Miss Erzabet No Biting, demanding pettings:

Went to Emerald City Comic Con for the day, met the Goblin King!

Made some new moss terrariums for my altar:

And, in looking through my witchy and occult books, unearthed an old favorite that might end up being bath time reading for the next few nights:

Last night I had a yummy dinner in MY OWN HOUSE, made for us by the Infamous BlueJay, and I got to pet my kitties (Erzabet let me know that leaving for that long is Not Acceptable to her), have a long conversation with Clovis, and then sleep in my very own bed next to the StroppyOne. So, so wonderful.

Today I am working from home and doing all the laundry so my clothes no longer faintly smell of cigarette smoke. While I'm doing that, here, have a few more photos from my adventures in Vegas:

Behind a cut-tag, for ease of scrolling. )

All in all, the conference in Vegas was very informative, but wow. A week is Vegas is ... overwhelming. Very much so. I'm glad to be home.

Do not argue with the editor, she has new fangs AND coffee.

(I went and got new fangs on Monday night, and went this time for incisors instead of canines. Yes, I am cheerfully wearing them around the house while working, because it amuses me.)

(I would say "fangs up", but that's more of a Cobra Starship thing. Of which I know the gesture for.)

Oooh, ocean!

Proof that I did not burst into flame, even in direct sunlight!

I now have a rock from the beach, and a small container of sand. I might have waved said container around while gleefully sing-songing "I have a jar of dirt! I have a jar of dirt!" Maybe.

(Yes, a PotC reference. OF COURSE I am looking forward to the new movie.)

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] cass404 (and her mom!) for a lovely day. Now we will have yummy food, and I will go back to reading work documents.

Baaaaaaby! That would be the very darling Connor, who reacted to me as if I were the bestest cartoon ever. (I tend to have that effect on babies.)

Out at the spookyclub with the StuntHusband. I was a touch apprehensive about going out (for a variety of reasons), but it was a very enjoyable evening.

I'm doing my best to ignore the news right now, because incoherent rage and sorrow don't help me with making my (self-imposed) word count.

Instead, have a photo: Teatime with [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny, while we review story notes.

About to start writing in 2011. Clovis helps. Writing in 2011. Clovis helps.

I hope everyone had a good night last night! Now, back to the writing, yay!
(Which you've already seen if you follow me on other social media places.)

(Yes, someone at the club asked me if I was a Christmas caroler. ::sigh::)

(The eyeshadow is Cupid (light pink matte), Gothic (shimmery red), Bleeding Poppy (shimmery burgundy), and Edie (super shimmery pink), all from Aromaleigh.)

Last night was wonderful. There were a bunch of my favorite people out, who made sure to keep me distracted when the DJs played songs that triggered my OMG MUST DANCE NOW! reaction. (Dammit, that was the first time I've not danced to "Bloodletting" by Concrete Blonde at a club, ever. Grrr!)

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] sistawendy! Welcome to being a girl, dearheart. I'm very happy for you.

OMG your hat plays music! OMG your hat plays music!
Not only was Domestinatrix's top hat made of metal, it had a tiny music box that played "Here Comes The Sun". I am consumed with envy.
Behind the cut, full-length photos of the dress, and a photo of the Stroppy One! )
People, I keep going back and looking at the photo of that wig I posted yesterday. Oh, the coveting! Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] alexiarnps and [livejournal.com profile] jaborwhalky, who gave me links to tutorials on how to make my own. But I know my level of patience and skill, and I think I just need to save my pennies (iieee!) and see if I can eventually buy that particular wig. Plus, I want to support talented artists.

Vampire Ball! Vampire Ball! This coming Saturday night! The Vampire Ball is actually THE big dress-up event I look forward to every year. It's the one that I know I am always going to attend. The Infamous BlueJay dropped off my finished dress last night, and it is, IMHO, EPIC. Eeeee!

Goth at the Office photos! I love this blazer. That doesn't mean that I don't want MORE, DIFFERENT pink & black striped blazers, but I'm very fond of this one. (And yes, I'm wearing black lipstick.)

Behind the cut, my sparkly mis-matched stockings and my Fluevog Sweet Peas )

Y'know what I need to find? B&W striped mid-weight twill, where the stripes are not quite an inch wide. I need about 5 yards. Anyone have useful links?

Off to the Ballard Market!

Guess what I've spent all day doing?

Yes, playing with my new doll. I ... don't think the Stroppy One quite realized the level of crazy finally getting a gothy-goth doll of my own would unleash. You would think he would have realized this, considering [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny's presence in our lives, but no. He didn't.

(To be honest, [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny is not one for accumulating clothes. He likes getting new bow-ties occasionally, but would much rather have minions and a zombie army. Which means that the full strength of my "Oooooh, doll! Doll clothes and accessories!" madness might not have been easy to gauge.)

Come, join me in this mild insanity. Really, it's fun! )

I am giddy with delight over having Lucretia in my life. [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny is thrilled that there is a gothygirl that he is bigger than, and thus thinks that he'll be able to boss her around. That's going to be interesting to watch.

Now, back to finding more accessories for her. A real quote from our house today: "Ooooh! My mini glow-in-the-dark crow skull is the right size for her hands!"

One of my Secret Santa people very kindly included a present for [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny; a flock of batty minions.

That is what a very smug Devilbunny looks like.

The Stroppy One does not like my whimsically mis-matched stockings, even tho' it is something I have done off and on for YEARS.

I kinda don't want to be at work today. I need to wrap presents. Not to mention that I've come up with a few crafty-type projects that I want to get started on. But I will be a good worker bee, and concentrate on the editing for my day job.

Tonight is the night of a family tradition: Dad and I go Christmas shopping. We have done this for ... well, since I was very small. We will go have dinner, try and figure out what the heck to get [livejournal.com profile] cupcakegothmom as presents, and generally hang out and have a good time. Yes, I deliberately wore my skelly Docs to try and ward off the inevitable "Are you a Christmas caroler?" questions that my top hat seems to inspire. Yeah yeah, I know, I'm still going to be asked that.

Note To Self: you need to track down more silver kilt pins, because they work very well as a vaguely punk-ish way to turn pendants into brooches.
I hope everyone had a good Solstice. I am looking forward to more light. Not because I like sunlight all that much, mind you, but because things have been dark for a lot of people lately.
I need to take another bash at writing the post that will be the intro to the more informal reviews section on GCS. I would say maybe tomorrow night, but ahahahahaah. I need to wrap presents. I also need to email the delightful organizers of the Mourning Market and talk to them about a possible GCS reading at the next one.
Okay, time for coffee (thank you, oh darling Stroppy One! The scone was very tasty, too.), and back to editing. For there being hardly anyone in the office, I have a surprising amount of work.
I give you Cupcake Goth Vs. Frosty The Snowman.

(Hint: I win.)

Obey the Cupcake, Frosty. Don't argue. Obey the Cupcake, Frosty. Don't argue.
Cupcake conquers Snowman Cupcake conquers Snowman
The Snowpocalypse will happen according to MY wishes.

A shopping question: Have any of you seen white or ivory crocheted or lace tights for sale anywhere? Sock Dreams doesn't have what I'm looking for. I haven't had a chance to check out Target yet.

The weather has finally changed from OH MY GOD IT'S FREEZING to merely chilly and damp, and I am so, so thankful about it. My sinuses no longer hurt.

The weekend was very fun. Two different holiday parties in one night, and then going to the Mourning Market with [livejournal.com profile] geekmachine and [livejournal.com profile] chronivore, who were deligtful company as always. This edition of the Mourning Market was even better than the last one, and not just because people could hear each other this time. (A note to any alternative market organizers: It's a great idea to have bands perform at the event, but in reality, it means everyone has to shout to hold a conversation, which is not an ideal browsing and shopping experience.)

The next Mourning Market is slated for around Valentine's Day, and there's a slight chance of a Gothic Charm School reading happening at it. We'll see, and I'll let you all know as soon as I have more info.

Look at my ridiculously creepy-cute new handbag! Yes, from a vendor at Mourning Market; I added the pink bow and the cameo ring.

Shallow Fashion Details photo! Around my neck I'm wearing a glow-in-the-dark resin crow skull (on pink and black ribbons) that I purchased from [livejournal.com profile] mrsoles, because I AM that silly. I am also wearing the lovely charm bracelet that [livejournal.com profile] girlghoul made for me.

Thing One: I received confirmation that my contract ends the first week in January, thanks to budget. Which means I'll be job-hunting again. Anyone looking for a tech editor?

Thing Two: Work is busy. Here, have a photo. Look at the cute hat the lovely folks at Gloomth made for me!

Thank you to everyone who responded to my post yesterday. All of those comments were EXACTLY the sort of thing I needed to make me feel better. Look at you people, winning at NanoWrimo, posting shiny things, posting pictures of puppies and kitties and bats! And ... smiling sharks, but that made me giggle, too.

Today is MUCH better, thank goodness. Even if it is freezing cold, and I keep hearing rumors of possible snow in the next week or so. (No. I do not want snow, thanks. The Snowpocalypse last year was QUITE ENOUGH, thanks.) I am wearing a thermal silk shirt under my stripy blouse, and leggings over my tights. (Well, the leggings have leg bones printed on them, so that is part of the reason I'm wearing them. But also for warmth!) And black fingerless gloves that my Mommy knitted for me. (Hi Mom! Post a comment or something!)

Have I mentioned my weakness for Betsey Johnson accessories? Not her animal-print stuff, that's too over-the-top even for me. But thanks to discount stores such as Ross and T.J. Maxx, I have a collection of her hosiery (pink and black stripe, whee! Pink skulls!). Alas, I suspect that this necklace that I'm coveting (clicky-link to eBay!) will not be turning up at a discount store any time soon. But it's sparkly, vaguely Victorian, and combines pink, black, and skulls. It's like she made it just for me!

Here, have a Shallow Fashion Details photo. You might notice something different about me. ;)

The Morrissey show last night was a wonderful experience. He did not perform "Last Of The Famous International Playboys", alas, but it was still a great show. His voice is still as strong as ever, and [livejournal.com profile] cass404 made flailyhands of excitement at each other through the entire thing.

One of the things that astonished me was that people climbed up on stage and ran at Saint Moz. I just wasn't expecting that to happen. Stage security did their best to intercept the fans and usher them off-stage, but at one point I think there were three different audience members dodging security. ([livejournal.com profile] cass404 and I looked hard to see if any of those fans were in a black suit, but no. [livejournal.com profile] morthael showed some sense and restraint.)

Sparkly vampire movie. Oof. Hey look, Cleolinda has put up the New Moon In 15 Minutes! You should go read that. What *I* will say about the werewolves and sparkly vampire movie is that I found it hilariously awful, wow the CGI was bad, the quote of the night was "It's a metaphor!", and I am devoutly glad that I took a flask of absinthe into the movie theater with me. (I do not usually condone smuggling alcohol into public events, but there was NO WAY I was getting through that movie completely sober.)

However, thanks to suffering through one travesty of something supposedly to do with vampires, I have decided that I have healed enough to tackle writing the long-threatened review of Dracula The Undead tonight. This is your warning.

I think my taste in footwear is regressing a bit. I can't really think of another reason why I'm suddenly browsing eBay for Dr. Marten's boots. Okay, part of the reason is that [livejournal.com profile] cass404 has these gorgeous corset Docs (clicky-link!), and I find myself quite enamored of them. What a pity that I'm pretty sure that a US size 6 in Docs won't fit me, otherwise I would have nabbed the pair I just linked to. But no, my shoe size is 7.5 - 8 -ish nowadays, and I fear those boots in a size a 6 would lead to pain and suffering. But they're very pretty.

Yes, I'm wearing black lipstick in this photo, which means that yes, I wore black lipstick to work. I'm quite pleased with it.
