In case you didn't see it, yeah, [livejournal.com profile] jola cosplayed me to PERFECTION. Seriously, the Stroppy One scrolled past the photos, then had to scroll back because he didn't remember seeing those photos of me before.

But one of the funniest things about it? She made that post on Sunday, the same day as the Seattle Mourning Market. The outfit I'd already planned on wearing that day:

OctMourningMarket

... yeeeeaaaah

[livejournal.com profile] jola, I love you, and we need to twin outfits if we're ever at Convergence together. :D

As I said over on Tumblr: How did I get my lipstick to match my dress? Oh, you know, by mixing up some red wine, pomegranate juice, and the blood of those who thwart me. A simple DIY project ...

... hi. I'm really busy. And stressed. And tired. And pretty much ready for it not to be summer any more. So, how are you folks doing?

But wait! This is the important thing I wanted to tell you folks! Our very wonderful [livejournal.com profile] trystbat has had some not-good medical news. Her blog post about it is here, and, very importantly, the Donations and Resources page is here. If you can help out, please do.

I've been feeling cranky for the past couple of days (for no proper reason, "just" PMS playing merry hell with my emotions, grrr), so today I decided to armor myself by wearing a favorite outfit.

Striiiiiiipes. The Bastian shirt and ascot by my darling girl [personal profile] kambriel, so I can feel like my friends are with me, and my velvet ChicStar long waistcoat because it's one of my favorite garments right now. And one of my vintage ankhs on a glow-in-the-dark rosary, because it makes me smile a lot.

Also, I'm re-reading The Night Circus (yes, again, what?), and am SO READY to run away with Le Cirque des RĂªve right now, so wearing black & white stripes is appropriate.

But! WE'RE HITTING OUR WORK DEADLINE, WHOO! The ship party is Friday night, and then Saturday is my birthday! So, things to look forward to, even if I feel like I should be wearing cranky!bloomers right now.
Thank you [livejournal.com profile] angldst!!

She is a clever darling, and made me a b&w stripy military jacket! And sent me Betsey Johnson socks that are black with pink leg bones and have bats!

::smooch::

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The correct answer, of course, is that you are going to the University Bookstore at 7pm for the signing party for the Steampunk Bible! Libby Bulloff, Cherie Priest, and Jay Lake will be there, being fabulous. You really want to go. Trust me.
(Which you've already seen if you follow me on other social media places.)

(Yes, someone at the club asked me if I was a Christmas caroler. ::sigh::)

(The eyeshadow is Cupid (light pink matte), Gothic (shimmery red), Bleeding Poppy (shimmery burgundy), and Edie (super shimmery pink), all from Aromaleigh.)

Last night was wonderful. There were a bunch of my favorite people out, who made sure to keep me distracted when the DJs played songs that triggered my OMG MUST DANCE NOW! reaction. (Dammit, that was the first time I've not danced to "Bloodletting" by Concrete Blonde at a club, ever. Grrr!)

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] sistawendy! Welcome to being a girl, dearheart. I'm very happy for you.
SteamCon was LOT of fun. My schedule was really odd and scattered, and I didn't get to go to anywhere near as many things I wanted too. But I got to spend time with some wonderful friends, I met amazing people, and saw wall-to-wall fantastic outfits. I got to wear a fabulous outfit by [livejournal.com profile] kambriel in two fashion shows, purchased delicious tea, and discovered what two friends from high school are up to.

(I also discovered that MAC Prep & Prime will reflect flash from photography to an extent that it looks like I'm wearing whiteface. Hmmm, I am not thrilled about this.)

Would I go to SteamCon again? Yes, almost certainly. Wall-to-wall eye candy, people.

And now, I get [livejournal.com profile] kambriel and Curse as guests for the next few days! Wheeee!

Wednesday night, starting at 7PM! You all should watch Queenie TV!

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/queenietv

Firstly, because Queenie is wonderful, charming, funny, and one of my favorite people. She's the talented artist behind Pocket Full of Posiez.

Secondly, because I'm going to be a guest on the show! You really, really don't want to miss the sight of Queenie and me being all giggly and flailyhands about ... well, just about everything, really.

Have I mentioned that we have the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] ladymoira staying with us right now? We do, and it's so unbelievably awesome I can't properly express it in words. Let me put it this way: having a registered dietitian who loves to cook take over your kitchen every night? You WISH you were me and the Stroppy One.

I don't know what I am going to do when her visit with us is over. If I could wave a magic wand and have the basement turn into a guest bedroom + bathroom in the next three weeks (and not have it cost a zillion dollars and be a giant chaos engine, I mean), I would, and I would keep her here.

Yes. I'm gloating. I think I'm allowed to.

Everyone must go look at this picture right now! http://www.life.com/image/93166253

Those are my darling ladies [livejournal.com profile] kambriel and [livejournal.com profile] acid_poptart at the MOMA film benefit honoring Tim Burton. I am so, SO happy for them that they were able to be there!

Thank you for all the Bombast!/Symphonic Metal recommendations, peeps! I now have more Within Temptation on Renfield the iPod, and will be sure to check out the other bands you mentioned. Except Evanescence, because I already know that there is something about the vocalist's voice that makes me want to grind my teeth.

As I said to someone in the assorted comments, I really kind of live in a musical isolation chamber. I have the stuff that I listen to, and don't learn about anything else unless someone waves their hands and says "Jilli! You must listen to this!" Let me put it this way: I have been known to not only listen to the same playlist or band over and over for days, I have been known to listen to the same song on repeat for hours at an end, because my brain goes now is the time we listen to "Last Of The Famous International Playboys" and nothing else.

---

See that very spiffy stripey blazer I'm wearing? Proof that the Infamous BlueJay is a rock star.

We're home from Comic-Con, sanity and feet intact! And because [livejournal.com profile] ladymoria is EXACTLY that fantastic, she's making us yummy yummy salad for dinner. (She's staying at our place while we travel all over.)

By the way, gang, when I said "Don't destroy Seattle while we're gone", I didn't realize that I needed to add "Don't summon the Evil Orb", too. This weather does not meet with my approval. I would like to return it.

On a completely random tangent: hey, have any of you seen a black lady's camisole-type tank top for sale anywhere that has a white ribcage printed on it and a pink heart? I have one that has a red heart (and trim), but I really really want one with pink details. If you've seen one, please link me?

[livejournal.com profile] maiaarts commissioned Devout Dolls to make a Jilli doll. I got to meet the mini-me over the weekend.

The mini-Jilli even has her own miniature [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny!
