People, I keep going back and looking at the photo of that wig I posted yesterday. Oh, the coveting! Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] alexiarnps and [livejournal.com profile] jaborwhalky, who gave me links to tutorials on how to make my own. But I know my level of patience and skill, and I think I just need to save my pennies (iieee!) and see if I can eventually buy that particular wig. Plus, I want to support talented artists.

Vampire Ball! Vampire Ball! This coming Saturday night! The Vampire Ball is actually THE big dress-up event I look forward to every year. It's the one that I know I am always going to attend. The Infamous BlueJay dropped off my finished dress last night, and it is, IMHO, EPIC. Eeeee!

Goth at the Office photos! I love this blazer. That doesn't mean that I don't want MORE, DIFFERENT pink & black striped blazers, but I'm very fond of this one. (And yes, I'm wearing black lipstick.)

Behind the cut, my sparkly mis-matched stockings and my Fluevog Sweet Peas )

Y'know what I need to find? B&W striped mid-weight twill, where the stripes are not quite an inch wide. I need about 5 yards. Anyone have useful links?
Would one of you lovely UK-based folks be willing to bid on an eBay auction for me, and then if you win, ship it to me in the USA? I will pay all costs, naturally.

Remember the Miss Selfridge pink candystripe velour/velveteen blazer I've long been searching for?
Picture of it behind the cut! )

Guess what is up on eBay UK, finally in my size?! The only problem is the seller is only willing to ship within the UK. Woe! Woe is the Cupcake Goth!

So, yes. If one of you wonderful peeps in the UK is willing to help me out with this, please leave me a comment. Thank you so much!

Whooo, tired. This is the first time in a while that the concept of "Friday! Weekend!" has been really important to me. Ah, the things we get used to when we don't have a day job. So, we had WEATHER last night. House-shaking, I wonder if the collection of tea cups are going to rattle right off of the shelves WEATHER. It was amazing! The cats were Not Amused At ALL, but the Stroppy One and me stared out the windows in rapt astonishment.

I have a new guilty pleasure TV show. Oh Vampire Diaries, I didn't expect you to end up being vaguely good and entertaining. But the show already has a more entertaining and complex plot than the books (yes, I've read them, this surprises you how, exactly?), and ... okay, I'll admit it: add a snarky, mostly evil, just wants to eat people and be a vampire -sort of vampire character, and I am enraptured. Which is not bad going for a show where for the first three episodes, I firmly believed that the best performance was being turned in by the fog machine.

SFD photo! I don't know if I'm going to continue posting daily outfit photos, because I don't want to turn into a picspam posting, attention-craving bad internet cliché. (Yes, I worry about these things.) But it has been fun documenting my outfits this week! I couldn't get a good photo of the back of the skirt, but the back panel is layered in 3 tiers of 9" wide ruffles, for extra fluff and bustle-y-ness. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. p>

And now, more tea, and on to the work project that just got handed to me.
Firstly, everyone should go read The Strange Case Of Mr. Salad Monday over at Tor.com. A story full of all sorts of steampunk-ish fun which I thought was wonderful.

Going to work orientation was fine. Ambien did indeed knock me right out, hurrah! (Send your pity to the Stroppy One, however, who got to bed very very late because of a deadline he's working on.) Orientation was exactly what I expected it to be: filling out paperwork and pep talks. Eh, whatever. I have a job!

This week involves filming some stuff for another GCS video, and then going to see Emilie Autumn and visiting friends! (Oooh, and going to Sock Dreams and Powells, yes.) And our wedding anniversary! Yes, we got married on Halloween. Of course we did!

(What the heck am I going to wear to the EA concert? Must dither over wardrobe.)

This week also involves working on two or three different writing projects, so I can get as much as possible done before the start of the new job next week. Sadly, my brain doesn't feel very capable of proper writing right now. Oh dear.

Another clicky-link! Redemption Klothing, the sweethearts, have posted the photos for the Lip Service Lolita Candy line. I. Am. DOOMED. Strangely, the black-on-black stripe colorway doesn't appeal to me. But the black and pink? YES PLEASE NOW NOW NOW. I want at least one of everything, including the men's shirt, in the black and pink stripe.
Should I bid on a black-with-pink-pinstripes stretch velveteen jacket on Ebay UK, even tho' the seller has not replied to my question about if they would ship to the US? Because black-with-pink-pinstripes, ooh!

---

I am working at home for half the day today, and then am on vacation for a few days for socializing, wheee! The two best things about working from home: sleeping in, and the Stroppy One venturing forth to go get really good coffee.

---

No, I still haven't gotten replies to the emails I was wound up over. But! I called one of the people in question, got the feedback I needed, and made sure that my emails did get to them and didn't just vanish into the aether. So yay.

---

I will have bound proofs of the GCS book soon! ::flails excitedly::

eBay UK just sent me email letting me know that there's an auction up for the pink & black striped Miss Selfridge blazer that I'm constantly searching for. Is the blazer in my size?

::stamps feet::

No, no it is not. Not even close.

Someday one will appear in a size 12 or 14, and it will be mine. SOMEDAY.
The dread spirits of Ebay.co.uk are mocking me.

MOCKING ME, I TELL YOU.

There are TWO different auctions for the the pink & black candy-stripe blazer I am searching for. One is for a size 6, one is for a size 10. I need a size 14.

Excuse me while I stamp my little feet in vexedness.

(I'm also searching for the black & cream striped blazer from Miss Selfridge in a size 14, because the website is sold out. Why are all the good stripey clothes in the UK? Whyyyyyy? Like I said, shallow fashion whining. My life, it's so difficult.)

EDITED TO ADD: I wonder if I should make a "I'm looking for this item" post to [livejournal.com profile] gothfash?

Anyway, in happier and less shallow news, I am making progress on the writing! I am now HALFWAY done with the first draft of the project. Progress, it happens!
Now with bonus Shoutfit links at the end! (The photos are not the bestest ever, but hey! At least I'm finally taking photos, right?)

As always, behind a cut tag )
Today I am wearing the Lip Service jacket (clicky link to eBay!) that I spent most of my free time last week customizing.

"Customizing?" I hear you say? Why yes. Because I am (possibly) crazy, I hand-colored all the white on the jacket with Copic markers (clicky link!) in "Sugar Almond Pink". Copic markers are waterproof, and you can buy ink refills for them, which means they're perfect for clothing modification.

Coloring the jacket was a strangely soothing activity. It was something I could do while watching movies or talking to people, and now I have a Victorian-esque pirate-y jacket with pink & black striped trim. (I also now have a matching waist cincher, which was easier to color than the ruffles on the jacket.)

(There will be a photo of the newly-customized jacket posted to Shoutfit in the next couple of days. My co-worker and former office-mate likes to take photos, which means she doesn't mind helping me document the outfits I wear to work each day.)
This time, with bonus DIY notes at the end!

Summer. Not one of my favorite seasons. )
DIY notes. I'm including them because, well, I thought I would give people an example of the regular level of customization I do to things I wear. There is very little that I buy "off-the-rack" that does not get customized in some way, whether it be changing the buttons, adding trim, or (in some cases) being turned into an entirely different item of clothing.
