::sob::

Hey Sailor! is running a sale. The mini b&w striped tricorn with the pink details and the tiny pirate ship is on sale. (clicky-link!)

::looks at pictures, whimpers some more::

Dear Sandy Claws, I have been ... mostly good this year. And have learned from my mistakes when I wasn't good. I am very deserving of a tiny tricorn decorated with a pirate ship, I really really am.

Love,

Cupcake Goth

Thing One: I received confirmation that my contract ends the first week in January, thanks to budget. Which means I'll be job-hunting again. Anyone looking for a tech editor?

Thing Two: Work is busy. Here, have a photo. Look at the cute hat the lovely folks at Gloomth made for me!

Posted via LiveJournal.app.

Dear Powers That Be, either one of these items would be a wonderful present for me. In case you were wondering.

Bat skull and feathers fascinator headband.

Gilded parakeet skull birdcage necklace.

(Yes, those are both clicky-links.)

I really REALLY want the bat skull & feathers headband. Hmmm, I wonder how that would work with my planned outfit for the Vampire Ball ... [livejournal.com profile] mineke, [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage, what do you two think? (I want opinions about that from the rest of you, too, but Katie and the Stroppy One are the two who know what my outfit looks like.)

(What's that, you say? Tell you what is involved in my Vampire Ball outfit? Why, a full ruffled skirt in b&w stripes, and a black polonaise with an attached pink satin waistcoat, trimmed with black velvet and pink satin buttons.)

::goes back to staring at the bat skull fascinator::
I can't figure out if I really really like this, or if it's just the sleep deprivation amping up my "oooh, shiny!" magpie tendencies.

White and pink sugar skull fascinator. (Clicky-link!)

On the one hand: Oooh, skulls and pink and white and it goes on my head!

On the other hand: Wow, that's kind of ... busy, design-wise.
I think I just found the mini tricorn of my Cupcake Gothic pirate-y dreams!

Of course, it's TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS, so there's no way on earth I'm ever getting it. But good heavens, it's darling. Stripy! Pink! Adorned with a miniature pirate ship!

(Listen; do you hear that sound? That is the sound of [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage rolling his eyes, sighing, and possibly muttering "Walk away from the computer, Jilli".)

::gazes longingly at the hat some more, then returns to editing work::

Dear Sandy Claws,

Remember how I said I wanted mini hats for Christmas? I would especially like this pink and black top hat. (clicky-link!) Oooh, or this pink velvet tricorn. (clicky-link!) You know, just in case the Elf Labor Union negotiated for not doing millinery this season or something.

With lots of love,

Cupcake Goth
Not that I'm going to purchase any of these, but goodness, they're pretty. I blame [livejournal.com profile] charmingmonstrs for linking to them.

The main EGL brand I covet stuff from is the Alice and the Pirates line from Baby The Stars Shine Bright. (Yes, I have a huge weakness for pirate lolita, which probably can be traced directly back to my crush on Adam Ant.) Which is why mini tricorn hats with large bows (clicky-link!) and Victorian pirate button boots (another clicky-link!) make me go "Oooooh, wanty!"

(I do SO need more mini tricorns and top hats. I DO. Do not argue with me.)

Dear Sandy Claws, I have been very very good this year. Please bring me lots of cute hats. Which, you must admit, are a much more reasonable request than my annual pleas for an arc welder.

Love, Cupcake Goth.
Torrid is selling a mini top hat. (clicky-link!)

::boggles::

On the one hand, Torrid. Selling a mini top hat. What?

On the other hand, that's not a bad price for a pre-decorated sinamay mini top hat. I am considering buying one (and covering it with fabric), because I don't have a mini top hat in that particular size. (I have smaller and larger ones.)

But ... Torrid. Selling a mini top hat. I am perplexed.
I'm selling off two of the mini hats from my collection. I only have photos of one of them at the moment, but I'll take pictures of the other hat tomorrow night.

Marie Antoinette mini tricorn, made by Vienna La Rouge! $75

Never been worn. I had been coveting this hat since Vienna had posted teaser photos of it last year, but when I finally got it, I discovered that the color was more lavender than cupcake pink, which means it was the wrong color for me. Curses! It's beautifully made, but I know I won't ever wear it.

More photos, and Vienna La Rouge's original description of the hat )

The second hat I am selling is a very unusual mini top hat. It is made from black beading wire and copious amounts of glass jet beads. From the dearly departed Double Duchess Designs, it is *beautiful*. It is smaller than the rest of the mini top hats in my collection, and I have finally admitted that it just doesn't look right on me. Like I said, I'll post pictures of it tomorrow night. $45

If one of you non-Seattle types buy one of these, we'll figure out shipping costs at that time.

There are some other things I'm planning on selling off, so consider this a warning post of sorts. (Oh, and before I finally get around to putting it on eBay: I do still have the Vertigo Tarot deck for sale. See this post (clicky-link!) for details.)
