Tonight is the night of a family tradition: Dad and I go Christmas shopping. We have done this for ... well, since I was very small. We will go have dinner, try and figure out what the heck to get [livejournal.com profile] cupcakegothmom as presents, and generally hang out and have a good time. Yes, I deliberately wore my skelly Docs to try and ward off the inevitable "Are you a Christmas caroler?" questions that my top hat seems to inspire. Yeah yeah, I know, I'm still going to be asked that.

Note To Self: you need to track down more silver kilt pins, because they work very well as a vaguely punk-ish way to turn pendants into brooches.

I hope everyone had a good Solstice. I am looking forward to more light. Not because I like sunlight all that much, mind you, but because things have been dark for a lot of people lately.
---
I need to take another bash at writing the post that will be the intro to the more informal reviews section on GCS. I would say maybe tomorrow night, but ahahahahaah. I need to wrap presents. I also need to email the delightful organizers of the Mourning Market and talk to them about a possible GCS reading at the next one.

Okay, time for coffee (thank you, oh darling Stroppy One! The scone was very tasty, too.), and back to editing. For there being hardly anyone in the office, I have a surprising amount of work.

kilt pins are always a wonderful thing. They will forever remind me of Vivienne Westwood.

Your boots are fabulous. Not caroller-like at all!

Have fun with your dad!! Good luck with shopping. I hope too many people don't ask about you being a Christmas caroler. :-) Good luck with everything and enjoy your coffee!

Oh yes, I use kilt pins to turn bracelets and necklaces into brooches as well. It makes for a very interesting accessory!

Very nice and Christmas-y outfit :)

Re: It's obvious

I just saw a play where they made the 3rd Ghost into something resembling a Ringwraith!

Some folk friends of mine have been telling me about a carol that goes "Arrest those merry gentlemen"

Thank you!

A lot of my skirts are the "dolly bustle skirt" from Retrosocpe Fashions (www.retroscopefashions.com), and then I customize them with appliques and whatnot. The skirts that I make myself are from a pattern that I drafted off of the "dolly bustle skirt".

Mr. Husband and I are moving from our current home in London to Edinburgh over the summer. I'll have to gather some kilt pins for you; they'll be easy enough to come by for me!
As far as the caroling issue goes, I've had a silly idea for years about trying to get together a bunch of other Goths to go 'round singing "Nightmare" songs instead of Christmas carols.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

The Fabulous StuntHusband and myself have been threatening to start a Nightmare Before Christmas caroling group for years, but neither of us are organized to do it.

(My real husband, the Stroppy One, just shakes his head at us whenever the StuntHusband and I start wittering on about this.)

I think a Nightmare caroling group is something that's far overdue, if it hasn't already been done somewhere. "Kidnap the Sandy Claws" would sound FABULOUS.

Good luck with Christmas shopping. Hope it isn't too crazy.

What's the heart on your skirt made of?

Nope. Definatly not a caroler, unless Tim Burton has his own version of "A Christmas Carol". But Nightmare Before Christmas caroling sounds fun. ^_^
I bet you're going to get asked for pics anyway.

I sat on Santa's lap today, but I forgot my camera.

Now I really, really want to see you in a cupcakegoth-colored kilt, with possibly just a little layer of pink petticoat peeking out from under it. You would look completely adorable.

I've been hunting kilt pins too, they are so useful. Ha, the boots definitely say "goooooth stayback", but they also definitely look cool.

I get a delightful mental picture of you, when accused of being a caroler, showing off your skellyfeet. Nyeh heh heh heh.

I saw someone downtown yesterday and immediately thought, "Oh look, that woman dresses almost as nicely as Jilli - oh wait... nope, she's just a caroler."

:o)

I don't see any reason for skelly boots to preclude you from being a caroler.

From: [identity profile] spiderpiggle.livejournal.com

lol you look far too creepy cute to be a caroler!

How is it that holiday time = more work for us office types?

No less than ten people brought in computers for repair Monday. It was beyond insane.
