A cross-over story for the fandom I wrote in last year, plus this year's (as yet unrevealed) fandom?

Three years and 92,642 words later, I have achieved a complete draft of the fiction project.

I'm really happy. I'm crying, but it's happy crying.

Good G-d, draft zero.

Goth at the Office: the final photo from this location. Off I go to have new adventures, and perhaps work for a different company.

But first, I have a writing project to finish.

Yuletide story: POSTED.

Threat level: HAHAHAHAHAHA, DONE! TAKE THAT, BEARS!

Cass and the Infamous BlueJay are wonderful beta readers.
I have a plot! I have 895 words written! I ... am only about halfway done.

In other words, I'm completely on schedule for Yuletide, right? REASSURE ME HERE, PEOPLE.
I'm writing. Really. Writing, writing, writing.

With kittens.

I always forget: one of the things I do when I'm stressed is think about doing something to my hair. I want to bleach some white streaks at the temples. Narrow ones, but still. It would involve hair color remover and bleach, two things I should probably avoid.

Yes, I could just get white-blonde micro-ring extensions and put them in. Maybe I'll even do that.

Randomly, here, have a picture of part of my current workspace. I have created a little writing nook for myself in the Library, with a comfy chair and appropriate decor.

I really, really like the advice on this list. I should print this out and put it on the wall of my workspace to remind myself.

Yesterday, we packaged up Tzepesh's remains and sent him off to the very nice people who are going to clean his skeleton for us. When he comes home, he will sit next to Dread Beast in his very own coffin box, and I will say goodnight to him every night, just like I do with Dread Beast.

That ... errand? Chore? Went as smoothly and painlessly as possible, considering I was already having a fairly low day. But now it's done.

The Insomnia Fairy visited last night, much to my dismay and loathing. As I said on tumblr/twitter/FB today's to-do list:

- Day job
- Write GCS prom article
- Not fall asleep on the keyboard

I have promised myself that if I get the GCS prom post off to the beta readers in a timely fashion, I can spend the evening reading the big art book that came with the Elfman & Burton box set.

So over the course of last night, I wrote 5,044 words, for a story that is due tomorrow. Those of you who follow me on FB got to see the real-time madness; I hope it was amusing.

The story is for an anthology that hasn't been officially announced yet, but when it IS, I will be telling everyone. So yes, it's fiction, and it's not part of the serial I've been writing for Steampunk Tales.

Tonight, I go over the feedback from my brilliant, lovely, talented beta readers, and tomorrow I send the story off. And then get back to the other looming projects, ahahahahaha.

I would like to offer heartfelt thanks to The Republic of Tea for their caffeine-free Chocolate Strawberry Red and Red Velvet Chocolate teas. (clicky-links!) They are scrumptious.

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] javagoth for making me an icon from The Unstrung Harp!

... you know what's going to be really funny? The 5K word story that's due Friday? May end up being longer than 5K words. While I'm waiting for email from the person I'm sending it to, I'm just going. To. Keep. Writing.

(4,275 words so far, and there's still at least three scenes that need writing.)

(2,803 of those were written *tonight*.)

([livejournal.com profile] staxxy and [livejournal.com profile] maiaarts, yes, this is getting sent to you when I reach a stopping point.)

(I like parentheses.)
I really, really need an LJ icon with something from Edward Gorey's The Unstrung Harp.

Trust me. I do.
Thanks to some shenanagins over on Twitter last night, I, um, now know what my next writing project is. So now my non-dayjob to-do list looks like this:

- Finish writing proposal for current fiction project. (TODAY, JILLIAN.)

- Send it and sample chapters to Agent of Awesome.

- Write new stuff for GCS.

- Write 5K of ridiculousness for that other possible project.

- Go go go on NEW new project, as the ideas for it are scurrying around your head and starting to bite you.

- Write more stuff for GCS.

Also, HOW MUCH do I covet this journal set on Etsy? (clicky-link!) Oh, lots. More than you might realize. Not because it's related to Titus Andronicus, but because of how it looks, and because it would be PERFECT for the NEW new project.

(I always have blank books that are specific to certain writing projects. The current fiction project has a Keep Calm and Have A Cupcake journal, the assorted silly steampunk stuff has a beautiful green & gold stamped journal, there's a big book of GCS notes, aaaaand ... yeah. That bloody notebook would be PERFECT. Curse this being solidly in debt to the house!)

---

Anyway, progress! My brain is starting to return, because I've been writing every night. Last night I worked on the book proposal, and then when I quit for the night to go take a bubble bath, I ended up spending most of the bath precariously balancing my Keep Calm and Have A Cupcake journal on the edge of the tub, because part of the story was jumping up and down and shrieking in my brain. So, progress. Yay.

REMINDER: I'll be at the Night Kitchen this Sunday night! Hijinks start around 8PM, please join us!

ATTENTION SEATTLE-AREA TYPES! This Sunday, 2/13, I will be doing a reading at The Night Kitchen! The fun starts around 8PM, please come join me. Tasty tasty food, delightful drinks, and me reading from either the Gothic Charm School book -OR- from the serial I've been writing for Steampunk Tales! Plus the usual sort of answering questions and burbling.

---

Writing is happening again. I've worked on the Mysterious Fiction Project for two nights in a row, and by "working on" I mean actually KEEPING the words I wrote, instead of glaring at the document and deleting stuff. Today/tonight, I write the proposal for it, then send that and the sample chapters off to my Agent of Awesome. Dear 2011, you know what would make me really happy? Another book deal. Keep that in mind, okay?

I'm doing my best to ignore the news right now, because incoherent rage and sorrow don't help me with making my (self-imposed) word count.

Instead, have a photo: Teatime with [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny, while we review story notes.

I hope everyone had a good night last night! Now, back to the writing, yay!
I am getting dressed up and going out tonight! I'm not going to dance AT ALL, which makes me a little sad, but I know is the right thing to do. But I'm going out! I get to see people! Wheeee!

(EDIT: I just realized this means that I could dress up in an impractical-for-dancing manner. Ooooh. Time to go stare at the wardrobe.)

A look inside my brain: last night, while waiting to drift off to sleep, my brain goes "Hey, remember that one black skirt? The one you haven't worn in, like, a year? How about adding rows of black ruffles on the back panel, and two rows of black velvet buttons in the front? That sounds like a good plan." So now I have a new sewing project. On top of the gazillion other sewing projects. First I need to check my stash of button blanks and make about 20 black velvet buttons ...

---

I managed to get some writing done last night, yay! I have blown the deadline I set for myself, thanks to the continuing rounds of the Plague, but am determined not to fret about it. It is not the end of the world if I take more time to work on it and have more to send off. IT ISN'T, BRAIN, SHUT UP WITH THE FREAKING OUT, OKAY?

---

Tumblr just weirded me out a bit, in a nostalgic manner. An old photo of me in my big-haired, quasi-Deathrocker stage just surfaced on a Tumblr I follow. The photo has been online for a few years now, but I don't remember if I ever posted it on Tumblr. Wacky! Hey [livejournal.com profile] jola, I'm assuming your Big Hair Challenge is about current-day big hair, not images from the Wayback Machine?
[livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny is helping me go through [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre's notes. Never argue with the Devilbunny editor. (Unless he says "needs more death-rays!". Why? Because they don't work with that part of the storyline, Clovis. No, they don't.)

A Devilbunny has many skills! A Devilbunny has many skills!

Reading through [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre's line edits on fiction project is a perfect thing to do with a sinus migraine, right? Right. Writing is about SITTING DOWN AND WRITING, Cupcake. So you will do that.

(Seriously, if I wasn't so behind on my self-imposed writing schedule, I would do nothing today but flop on the couch and whimper. But things Must Be Done, so self-discipline is the key.)

Hey, have I reminded everyone about the SeaGoth Rummage sale coming up on Sunday? Not today, I haven't!

December 5th, 2010
4228 Stone Way N
Noon to 5pm

There are 23 Bags! Of! Mystery! awaiting purchasers, filled with goodies from not just my collection of crafting goodies, but from the Infamous BlueJay's stash, too. How can you resist? You can't, just accept your fate and buy a Bag! Of! Mystery!

---

Okay, enough distraction via internet. Time to get back to reading line edits.

- Went to the chiropractor, where he made my neck make horrible crunching noises. And lo! My headache went away! My wonderful chiropractor also showed me some exercises I need to start doing to strengthen my neck and shoulder muscles, so that maybe I won't get these headaches quite as often. Here's hoping.

- Altered my Beetlejuice fitted tee that arrived in the mail yesterday. It now has a scooped neckline with lace trim and B&W striped piping. Whee!

- Finished watching the DVD of Brazil that the StuntHusband loaned me. I had never seen it. Ever. Yes, I know, how the hell did I manage that? Let's just say there are some astonishing gaps in my my movie-watching habits, and leave it at that. Anyway, Brazil. Whoo. I wouldn't say fun, necessarily, but surreal and fascinating.

- Watched the DVD of the Frank Langella version of Dracula (which I had finally gotten around to ordering). I haven't seen it in ages, and had forgotten how swoony and pretty it is. Plus, Frank Langella keeps referring to it as a "gothic romance" in the bonus feature interview. Be still my bombast-craving heart!

- Decided my everyday top hat needed to be refurbished, so I rummaged around and found a length of wide antique black lace and a lot of black ostrich and coque feathers. I'll try to take a photo tomorrow.

- Redid my blood spatter manicure. Now with black smudges, inspired by snowcoma's version. Again, maybe pictures tomorrow.

Also tomorrow: writing, writing, writing. WRITING.
