No, I'm not thrilled about this. I would like to feel better now, please, as I have things to do, and I want to go dancing on Friday.

One thing that is keeping me distracted is the news that my favorite sparkly improbable boy, Adam Lambert, is playing in Seattle in July. He's so pretty! And tall! And glittery! Yes, I'm going to the concert. With some friends who never, ever have counted as designated adults for me. Wheee!

Various people (including the Stroppy One) have told me about this, and I kept forgetting about it. Protective memory loss, maybe?

There's a Twilight convention happening in Seattle this weekend. (clicky-link, you've been warned) With, oh Bela Lugosi protect us, a Volturi Vampire Masquerade Ball on Saturday night.

I have the fear. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go stare at my collection of vampire novels and twitch. A lot.

(Have I told you people my theory about the "vampires" in Twilight? They're not really vampires. They're very, VERY confused elves or fairies. Hence the sparkling.)

Last night, after spending quite a long time flopped on the couch with a heating patch and a buckwheat pillow on my neck, I stretched and moved my neck around and was rewarded with an amazingly horrible popping noise. (The reaction from the Stroppy One: "Was that your NECK?!") And then the pain started to loosen its grip on me, oh thank goodness. Today, no migraine! I'm still going to my bonecracker chiropractor on Monday, though.

Hey Seattle peoples! If you don't have other plans, you should go to the Blackbird Orchestra CD release show! I think Blackbird Orchestra are wonderful, and am sad that I will not be able to attend this show.

Mind you, the reason I won't be at the show is because I'm going to a birthday party for one of my dearest friends, so while I'm sad about missing Blackbird Orchestra, I'm happy about socializing. Even if it involves a group outing to go see that movie with the teen werewolves and the sparkly vampires.

Yes. I'm seeing New Moon tonight. But I learned my lesson from when I was carted off to see Twilight, and I'm going to be filling the coffin flask with something stronger than rose liqueur. I'm thinking absinthe is needed.

The other thing that will get me through the Sparkle-Apocalypse is the knowledge that [livejournal.com profile] cass404 is coming up tomorrow so we can GO SEE MORRISSEY!! Dear Powers That Be, it would make me very very happy if the sainted Moz were to perform "Last Of The Famous International Playboys". I'm just saying.

Okay, back to doing laundry, stirring a pot full of pink RIT and a jacket, and figuring out which purse my coffin flask best fits into.

Post the first. I am up, dressed, and have had caffeine, ALL before I am usually awake on a Sunday. Sparkle field trip is go.

Sparkly vampire cupcakes:

I have brought a box of them into the office, but have not yet opened the sealed plastic bag. Mostly because I've been assured by other people that the sparklehearts are very strongly, cloyingly scented, and I don't know if I want to have that wafting around my workspace. However, I can report that the sparklehearts are, yes indeed, sparkly. Well, shimmery. I opened the box, looked at the shimmer, caught sight of ones that read "I ♥ EC", "Dazzle", "Lamb", "I trust you", and then promptly burst into horrified giggles.

In other news, yeah, I am also over at DW. I'm not giving up LJ for it, but hey! I'm always interested in new posting/social networking things. Even if I do keep forgetting to look at/update facebook ...
io9 has an entry about the Sweethearts Twilight candy. (clicky-link!)

And yes, because my friends DO think that way, I already have two boxes of these. [livejournal.com profile] haate, I still haven't decided if I should thump you for getting them for me. On the one hand, bwah-ha-ha! Conversation hearts that say "Bite Me"? Comedy GOLD, folks. Comedy gold. On the other hand, ohgod, Twilight merchandise*.

Oh, and I have I mentioned I'm going on a road trip to Forks this weekend, because I apparently find it difficult to refuse [livejournal.com profile] domestinatrix anything? There will be updates from the road, oh yes. Maybe I should take along a box of sparklehearts as a themed snack option ...

*Okay, fine, I not only purchased a sample pack of the Aromaleigh Twilight sparkle powders, but I ended up buying a full-size jar of "Lustre" (the one with the lowest amount of sparkle). But my fondness for sparkly makeup is well-known, and pre-dates the whole sparkly vampire craze, dammit!
Quick, someone tell me that I don't need to look into custom-blending and making my own lipstick. As in, blending pigments to get the right pomegranate/black cherry color, adding them to a base of melted beeswax, and pouring them into lipstick tubes.

I don't have time for this hobby. I don't. Even if it did mean I could (after trial and error) have my perfect lipstick.

::backs away slowly from the interwebs::

In other news: Fine, I admit it. I bought samples of the Aromaleigh Twilight Supernatural Face & Body Powders. (clicky-link!) Remember, I like sparkly makeup. Plus, the whole idea was too funny to pass up. I'll post a review of them after I try them out.
Official Hot Topic Edward Cullen body shimmer.

I ... I have no words. Other than that this is so terrible that it almost loops right back around to ridiculously fantastic. Official spaaaaaaaarkly vampire makeup! Genius!

Where do I fall on the issue? That I'm hoping the Twilight movie plays at one of the local theatres that offers food and drink, as that will save me the effort of having to hide a flask in my purse. Oh, and that I am not going to try and see the spaaaaaaarkly vampire movie on the opening weekend, because I don't want to be deafened by the shrieking fangirls.
Stephanie Meyer has made the draft of the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun (Twilight from SparkleBoy's Edward's POV) publicly available. (clicky-link!) Because the draft had gotten leaked last week.

A quote from her post: I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely. Hmmm, does that look like a classic symptom of the Great Flounce-Off to anyone else? (Rhetorical question, folks.) Any bets as to how long until the sparkly fans start up interwebs petitions begging her to finish it?

And, oh rapture, [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda has said she will recap the leaked chapters of Midnight Sun. Yaaaaay!
