Quick, someone tell me that I don't need to look into custom-blending and making my own lipstick. As in, blending pigments to get the right pomegranate/black cherry color, adding them to a base of melted beeswax, and pouring them into lipstick tubes.

I don't have time for this hobby. I don't. Even if it did mean I could (after trial and error) have my perfect lipstick.

::backs away slowly from the interwebs::

In other news: Fine, I admit it. I bought samples of the Aromaleigh Twilight Supernatural Face & Body Powders. (clicky-link!) Remember, I like sparkly makeup. Plus, the whole idea was too funny to pass up. I'll post a review of them after I try them out.

You don't need to look into custom-blending and making your own lipstick.

There you go. Service with a frown.

Get some MAC lipmix off the pro site and go to town, girlie. You KNOW you want to.

That stuff dried my lips out like there was no tomorrow. Ugh. I'd rather get pigments and oils/waxes any day.

But...will you wear them to Masquerade?

I just realized how close it really is, and I need to buy/sew a new petticoat. Oh noes!!

I may also make a skirt for the Friday night thing. I haven't gothed it up in a while and my wardrobe is deficient these days.

You could make it as gifts for friends and loved ones... You could start your own Gothic Charm School blend!!

I'm a helper!

if you want custom lipstick, you buy the pigments, and the cocoa butter, and I will make them for you. :P

I'm certainly not the person to talk you off the ledge...especially since I have everything to do it. You wouldn't get tubes any better than a chapstick, but Zenith does have lipgloss tubes with the foamy wand-thing now. And I'm experimenting with using cake frosting paste for stain, which would keep pigment load to a minimum.

What was that noise?

Ah, it was Peeve telling us to get to our respective corners and stop talking...

:-P

Cake frosting paste? Huh. Would I be able to get a deep pomegranate/wine tone with those?

There are other places to buy "real" -looking lipstick tubes, if we need.

Just like in the bad ol' days: mix black and red and make your fishnet shirts out of the pirate wench Halloween tights...

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Woo-hoo!

So I need black, red, and blue frosting paste. Maybe some pink, because the color I want always has a fuchsia undertone ...

From: [identity profile] alexiarnps.livejournal.com

It is just a stain by itself, but it would solve a lot of the coloring problems associated with trying to make red lipstick. Red pigment is transparent pigment dyed red and is unstable. A dye base keeps it from looking weird.

Poked around the website--I gave up on mineral makeup after trying Bare Escentuals (or whatever it's called) only to find it made me itchy and made my pores HUGE. So I might try this stuff! AND AND they have vegan high-quality brushes!! WANT.

You have the best links sometimes.

I am a huge fan of the aromaleigh.....I don't like makeup, but this stuff doesn't make my skin itchy or, more importantly, feel like I've just caked spackle on (I don't like things on my skin).
I also like that you can order samples, *highly* recommended for the face powder to get just the right color, or mix of colors for your skin.
Plus, pretty pretty colors.

The colors in the Gothic Lolita collection are *fabulous*. They're actually the eye shadows I wear the most often, because they're so versatile.

Why shouldn't you look into learning how to custom blend lipstick? I think that's a great idea. It wouldn't take up more time/energy/resources than endlessly shopping for the right lipstick, would it? You could trade in the jacket-shopping hobby for this one.

I should not know that makeup exists that will make my face look like marble.

From: [identity profile] metum-capere.livejournal.com

there are places that can match lipstick shades.. i haven't tried any of them though..
maybe check the interweb?

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Oh, I know. I've even used one of those companies to duplicate a color. But they're kind of pricy, and the color still wasn't perfect.

let me know how you like the powder. I use to use Makeup forever to get my ghostly pallor but they quit making the product that I loved so much so I'm looking for something new.

From: [identity profile] ozitonaranjo.livejournal.com

huh

Didn't know I could make a lip stain out of cake frosting... hmmm...

I love red lipstick but can't find the shade of red I want. Might have to try this.

From: [identity profile] sistawendy.livejournal.com

Tell you what: take that hobby up when you no longer need a job.

From: [identity profile] ethrosdemon.livejournal.com

If you start making lipstick, I want a true red without blue or orange undertones--TRUE RED, that is a matte and smooth.

Just saying.

Just a comment on your icon... I just saw that in my painting class slide show. (Minus the mask, of course.)

One more thing to eat your time that I think you will love

I think this will help you show people what you wear day to day and amuse the hell out of you.

I have now ordered many samples. Thank you for contributing to my ruination.
