MCR released The Black Parade six years ago today. It doesn't seem like it was six years ago, not even a little bit.

I realized they're now the band I've seen the most in concert, which is a little crazy when I also realize I didn't start going to their shows until The Black Parade era. (Yeah, I couldn't bring myself to go to Warped, even tho' I thought they were adorable and I really liked Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge.) Since December 2006 I've seen them on the KNDD holiday show, the Black Parade tour, twice on the "Black Parade is DEAD" tour (also known as the "NAP, MOTHERFUCKERS" tour), and twice on the World Contamination tour. The only band I've seen close to that many times is The Cure; yes, angsty boys in eyeliner playing guitar is a thing for me.

Steamcon! This weekend! Today is my last day in the office until Tuesday of next week. This year's theme for Steamcon is Victorian Monsters, so I expect to have a lot of fun. It's also the first Steamcon I will actually be Wearing A Costume for, instead of just slightly fancier JilliWear. No, I'm not going to tell you what the costume is, but I will post photos on Saturday night.

But first, more dayjob stuff, and Goth Upkeep tonight.

Seattle Steampunk University! I am going to be vending there - clothes, boots, and the ever-popular BAGS OF MYSTERY! (You really, REALLY want a BAG OF MYSTERY, as the both the Infamous BlueJay and Thea Queen Of Art handed me a bunch of stuff for them.

Noon to 6pm
All Pilgrim's Church 500 Broadway East

Come by, go to some Steampunk panels, buy some stuff, and say hi! All of my profits will go toward new tattoos, more gothy clothing, and maybe, just maybe, some Fluevogs; you know, terribly responsible stuff. ::grin::
What I wore:

Yes, I recently made a bat chiffon overskirt. The back panel of the skirt is covered with tiers of bat chiffon ruffles.

What I blew all my spending money on (spending money that was not set aside for the tattoo!):

A necklace made by Professor Maelstromme! (clicky-link!) Antique lace, a hand-painted image, and an antique straight razor. I've wanted something from Professor Maelstromme for AGES, and was delighted to finally meet her in the Steamcon vendors' room.

Alas, there is no trip to Steamcon for me today: the past week was ridiculously busy, and I am still not very good at pacing myself. The Lyme disease and gift-with-purchase maladies have made it clear that I am STAYING HOME today. Ugh. But I had fun on Friday and Saturday!

Yesterday was the first day of Steamcon, and as always, it was wall-to-wall eye candy. And the vendors' room. My G-d, the vendors' room. Hats! Tea! Corsets! Jewelry! Weapons!

I will be heading back there today, with the Stroppy One, the Stunt Husband, and Dad. Yes, Dad! Dad is a natural for Steampunk, so I wanted to make sure he got to go.

Must finish tea, help feed the cats, and then get ready. MOAR DRESS-UP!

(The theme for next year's Steamcon is "Victorian Monsters". Yes, I am already planning outfits.)
SteamCon was LOT of fun. My schedule was really odd and scattered, and I didn't get to go to anywhere near as many things I wanted too. But I got to spend time with some wonderful friends, I met amazing people, and saw wall-to-wall fantastic outfits. I got to wear a fabulous outfit by [livejournal.com profile] kambriel in two fashion shows, purchased delicious tea, and discovered what two friends from high school are up to.

(I also discovered that MAC Prep & Prime will reflect flash from photography to an extent that it looks like I'm wearing whiteface. Hmmm, I am not thrilled about this.)

Would I go to SteamCon again? Yes, almost certainly. Wall-to-wall eye candy, people.

And now, I get [livejournal.com profile] kambriel and Curse as guests for the next few days! Wheeee!
Firstly, thank you, everyone, for the birthday wishes! To celebrate my birthday, I got up earlier than I am used to so I could feverishly hit "refresh" on a Ticketmaster page until the presale for the MCR Seattle date went live. Mmm, concert tickets. (And yes, thanks to intense planning between [livejournal.com profile] cass404 and myself, we are going to both the PDX and Seattle shows. Bow before our fangirling!)

I am also considering Steamcon to be something of an unofficial birthday celebration weekend for me, so please come say hi!

---

Now to get some dinner, then decide on what the heck I'm wearing this weekend.
- Nine days until my birthday, whee! Not that I've made any sort of plans, because things have been busy, to say the least. But in nine days, I will be 42. Whoo, answer year!

- Eleven days until Steamcon! I'm on a bunch of panels and in two fashion shows, and I'll get to spend time with people I adore but don't get to see very often. So that will be fun. I should start figuring out my outfits, oh, now.

---

Sickly rundown: still exhausted, but with less feeling like I've been beaten with sticks, thank goodness. But I'm more congested. I do not like this trend. I would like to wake up tomorrow morning feeling perfectly healthy, thanks. Since I kinda doubt that is going to magically happen, more tea and decongestants are in my future.

My hope is that I have enough brain today to do proper writing, because I need to work on some GCS reviews and articles, and I really need to work on That Other Project. Oh, and I should call my parents today, yes. (Hi [livejournal.com profile] cupcakegothmom!)

---

::stares blankly at the laptop:: I'm sure there was something else I was supposed to be doing. I just can't think of it. Argh.
Tonight, starting at 7PM PST, I'm going to be on QueenieTV! I hope you can join us for the fun. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/queenietv

Want to bid on a personalized, signed copy of Gothic Charm School and help out someone in need? Of course you do! Go here: http://community.livejournal.com/savesnowssanity/6091.html

I will be at Steamcon, November 19th - 21st! http://www.steamcon.org/

I'm on a bunch of panels, and I'm walking in the fashion show for [livejournal.com profile] kambriel. No, I'm not really steampunk, but the growth of the steampunk community fascinates me, the overlap between Goth and steampunk fascinates me even more, and hey! It'll be a weekend full of people wearing interesting clothes!

---

Okay, now I go get ready for a day of running around, seeing people, and getting to go to the storefront for Clockwork Couture. Wheee!
