kambriel's LJ: Last month I got an email about an opportunity/contest to "Design a show-stopping shawl for Stevie Nicks". I was
immediately inspired & began work on it right away ~ here's the finished
result!
Voting starts today! I'd love if you could go take a
look, and vote if you feel moved to do so :) Many
beautiful/sentimental/artistic pieces have been made or sketched for
this, and I hope Stevie (& everyone!) has a wonderful time going through
all of the pieces she's inspired.

Good: the migraine that flattened me on Tuesday has completely dissipated.
Good: I had a (MUCH TOO SHORT) visit with Kambriel last night!
Bad: Kambriel and Carolee aren't hanging out in my living room right now, and Kambriel is flying home to the other side of the country tonight.
Good/Bad: I remembered some things about self-care, and dropped out of vending at the Steampunk University this weekend. Good because hey, I realized that I needed the downtime, bad because vending there is always fun.
Goth at the Office: wearing a necklace made from an antique straight razor, like you do.
Good: I had a (MUCH TOO SHORT) visit with Kambriel last night!

I don't know if you people have been paying attention, but kambriel has been making some ASTONISHINGLY lovely new designs.
One, there's the Jacqueline the Ripper Sherlockian Greatcoat. Look at that. LOOK AT THAT. The attached capelet! The sweeping skirt!
But the design that calls to me? The one that just went straight to the "Good G-d I must own that" list of coveting?
The Susperia Gown. It's the same fabric as one of my favorite blouses, the Femininja Cowl, but it's a full-length witchygoth gown! Eeeeeee!
kambriel my love, you are a genius, and I don't say that lightly. Also, I am incredibly lucky to know you, and I wish we lived nearer to each other.

Today is a wonderful day? You know why? Because it is the birthday of two of my favorite people in the world.

SteamCon was LOT of fun. My schedule was really odd and scattered, and I didn't get to go to anywhere near as many things I wanted too. But I got to spend time with some wonderful friends, I met amazing people, and saw wall-to-wall fantastic outfits. I got to wear a fabulous outfit by kambriel in two fashion shows, purchased delicious tea, and discovered what two friends from high school are up to.
(I also discovered that MAC Prep & Prime will reflect flash from photography to an extent that it looks like I'm wearing whiteface. Hmmm, I am not thrilled about this.)
Would I go to SteamCon again? Yes, almost certainly. Wall-to-wall eye candy, people.

Happy birthday to Princess Lillian Tickybox, who is OH MY GOODNESS FIVE today! I am still kind of freaked out by her turning five, because she was a wee tiny infant just, like, yesterday. (That tiny baby I'm holding in my LJ icon? That would be Tickybox.) But five she is, and I'm very happy to be her Auntie Jilli.
