We had to skip out on dinner with [livejournal.com profile] ladymoira last night, because we didn't want to risk the roads. We know we made the right decision, but still, boo! But we made cocoa, and we made cupcakes. Breakfast of gothy champions:

The freezing temperatures and icy conditions mean no one is really sure if we'll be able to get [livejournal.com profile] kambriel and Curse to the airport tonight, and the airline doesn't know if their flight will be will even be happening. "Call back in three hours", they say. "If your flight is delayed or canceled, you can change your tickets with no fee." In all honesty, things would be easier if their flight did get canceled, they stay with us, and then fly home in a few days.

(DISCLAIMER: I did NOT summon the snow demons in order to keep them here for longer. [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny, however, is looking pretty damn smug.)

In a little bit, all of us are going to get bundled up and walk to the grocery store for supplies. My boots with the best traction? My skeleton Docs.

And finally, here, have a photo of Constance bunny that [livejournal.com profile] kambriel took this morning:

We're home from Comic-Con, sanity and feet intact! And because [livejournal.com profile] ladymoria is EXACTLY that fantastic, she's making us yummy yummy salad for dinner. (She's staying at our place while we travel all over.)

By the way, gang, when I said "Don't destroy Seattle while we're gone", I didn't realize that I needed to add "Don't summon the Evil Orb", too. This weather does not meet with my approval. I would like to return it.

On a completely random tangent: hey, have any of you seen a black lady's camisole-type tank top for sale anywhere that has a white ribcage printed on it and a pink heart? I have one that has a red heart (and trim), but I really really want one with pink details. If you've seen one, please link me?
Today we fly home from NYC. We have a smidge over two days at home, and then we're off to San Diego Comic Con. Unsurprisingly, I'm a bit behind on reading LJ. (I've been trying to keep up, I promise!)

Anyway, hey, is there something going on with you that you think I should be aware of? Please leave a comment or send me mail!

And now, back to trying to wake up and pack.

In New York!

We had an uneventful flight, rode subways, and met up with our host. We had yummy yummy fish & chips for dinner, which made the Stroppy One happy. Like, almost beyond words happy. Then we went for a walk, and are now flopping around the apartment. Tomorrow is meeting (face-to-face for the first time) my agent, my editor, and my publicity person! And then the reading.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed for NO RAIN on Saturday. That would be very helpful.

You would think, wouldn't you, that trying to come up with what I want to pack for the NYC trip would not be so mind-numbingly difficult. But nooooo. I know what I'm wearing to the big picnic event, that's no question. But for Friday night's reading? No clue. For doing touristy things? Haven't the faintest idea.

The problem is, of course, that I have a bunch of items in my closets I am currently enamored with. But the weather in NYC this weekend is supposed to be ... warm. Well, warmer than *I* prefer. So no boots (unless I get very lucky, and a Certain Special Box shows up in the next few days), no stripy stockings, and cute stripy blazers or well-fitted black jackets (no matter how lightweight of fabrics) are Right Out. (Dammit.)

So. Black peep-toe flats? Lace or fishnet tights? (Helpful summertime tip I learned last year from someone on [livejournal.com profile] steamfashion: when you're going to be traipsing around in hot weather, wear fishnets or lace tights and dampen them with cool water. The water evaporates, thus keeping you cool! I did this at Disneyland during the recent L.A. trip, and it worked like a charm.)

Charming waistcoats, obviously (and oooh, I just got a fantastic one from Lip Service, wheee!), short-sleeved ruffly blouses, waist cinchers, fluffy skirts and petticoats, and maybe some bustle-y overskirts? Boy, do I wish I had a top hat made of black straw, and there is not enough time to get one of the natural straw top hats and color it.

And let us not even contemplate the complete dither I am going to be thrown into by contemplating packing for San Diego Comic Con. Oh lord.

Dear Dread Spirits of the Postal Service, if you could see your way to making two certain packages arrive today, that would be Very Helpful.

In addition to fashion dithering, I must dye my hair, job hunt, and write a GCS update. Which means I should go motivate myself to do stuff, instead of going "Oooh, shiny internets!"

My real home in Seattle, that is, not my spiritual home of the Haunted Mansion. (On one of my times through the Haunted Mansion, I asked the cast member at the door for my renter's agreement. He looked down his nose at me and said, in appropriately sepulchral tones, "I was not notified, miss".)

Anyway, there will be a longer post later on about my trip, and the things I learned at Disneyland. But for now, my usual post-traveling plea: I love you people, but you talk A LOT, and I don't think I'm up to a "skip=500" on my FL. If something happened that you think I should know or that you want to tell me about, please leave a comment.

(Oh, and an aside for [livejournal.com profile] poh: I got to see some of the costumes from the new Star Trek movie at the movie theater we went to. The Romulans have your ninjer boots.)

Now, back to job-hunting. Whee?
