In which I am wearing a favorite stripy blazer, but that isn't enough to keep me for feeling mildly petulant and fussy. Why aren't I Vampire Witch Queen of the Universe yet? Why do I not have a butler to bring me another pot of tea? Why don't I have adorable plushie dolls of Dave Vanian and Gerard Way to keep at my desk? ::whiiiiiiiiiiiine::

I suppose I'll just have to go make my own dratted tea. ::mock-sulks::

I might be judging you. Or judging someone, at least.

I wore the stripey Ralph Lauren blazer today while we were out running errands, and I was able to pinpoint (with help from the Stroppy One) why I am dissatisfied with it, and why it's not something I can fix. The blazer is lovely, but the cut of it doesn't quite work on my short-waisted + busty figure. Into the sale box it goes!

I know exactly the style of jacket I want in a b&w stripe: the Mina jacket. (clicky-link to an Etsy shop!) But I've contacted the seller, and she doesn't have any suit-weight b&w striped fabric, alas, just lining fabric.

Have I mentioned that the amount of jackets and blazers and skirts I'm going to be selling at the Time Travelers' Rummage sale is rather enormous? I haven't even started the serious pull-everything-out-and-think-about-it closet sorting yet, but yeah. Lots of stuff. Seattle-area peeps, you will want to be at the sale on 3/10.
Apparently a lot of you folks say I should sell that particular stripey blazer. Heh. Some of you suggested taking fabric markers and coloring in between alternating black stripes, thus creating wide black stripes. I do like that idea. However, the Stroppy One suggested I do that with my pink fabric markers, which would give me a pink and white striped jacket with black details. I will wear the blazer in its current incarnation when we go run errands tomorrow, and ponder this idea. But feel free to tell the Stroppy One he's brilliant!

([livejournal.com profile] staxxy, no sequins. No. That feels too ... costume-y, for me.)
So, I have this stripy blazer. It's by Ralph Lauren (thank you, Marshalls!), it's got a lovely shape, and I've done some tailoring to it to make it fit me even better. But the black stripes are a skosh narrow. They are not wide enough for my preferred Beetlejuice/circus aesthetic.

While I was waiting (and waiting, and waiting) to fall asleep last night, I was thinking about this blazer, and what I could do to it. "Oooh!" I thought, "I could take some 7/8" black ribbon and sew it down each stripe. Huh. Or I could paint over the stripes."

Now, in the vaguely rational light of day, I realize I perhaps should get a sanity check on these ideas. That's where you people come in.

Help me, LJ hivemind! Be my sanity check! (Stop laughing.)
Thank you [livejournal.com profile] angldst!!

She is a clever darling, and made me a b&w stripy military jacket! And sent me Betsey Johnson socks that are black with pink leg bones and have bats!

::smooch::

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Today has been a somewhat meh day. Nightmares last night, followed by waking up with a sinus migraine this morning. That, plus frustrating and un-fun news relating to the ongoing job hunt means I am vaguely cranky.

But! I have two cats asleep on my feet (well, I DID, but the Stroppy One came downstairs, which means Tzepesh is going to abandon me to go be with His Human), we're going to one of my favorite local places for dinner, and I've been idly window-shopping for stripy blazers. (Yes, again.)

There's this one from Ebay UK, but even my love for stripy clothing cannot blind me to the fact that it looks ... oddly constructed.

Oooh, or there's a pink and black striped (!!!) blazer from Ebay US ... except that it's a size small AND it's the wrong shade of pink. (It is. That is more fuchsia/hot pink, and my preferred shade is cupcake pink.)

And then there's this black & white striped blazer, but sadly, it's a size medium, and I'd need at least a size large from that designer.

Do I NEED a(nother) stripy blazer? Oh, probably not. But it's fun to look.

Tomorrow will be better, yes it will. But for now, idle window shopping.
