Yesterday, we packaged up Tzepesh's remains and sent him off to the very nice people who are going to clean his skeleton for us. When he comes home, he will sit next to Dread Beast in his very own coffin box, and I will say goodnight to him every night, just like I do with Dread Beast.

That ... errand? Chore? Went as smoothly and painlessly as possible, considering I was already having a fairly low day. But now it's done.

The Insomnia Fairy visited last night, much to my dismay and loathing. As I said on tumblr/twitter/FB today's to-do list:

- Day job
- Write GCS prom article
- Not fall asleep on the keyboard

I have promised myself that if I get the GCS prom post off to the beta readers in a timely fashion, I can spend the evening reading the big art book that came with the Elfman & Burton box set.
Thing the first: Wow, I am hungry. Which is ridiculous, because I had my usual breakfast this morning. But I feel hungry enough to make me also feel a touch queasy. Dear Stomach, this is Not On. Also, I am craving a bagel with cream cheese and lox, and there is *nowhere* near the office that I can get such a thing. Hmmph. I hope the fig cereal bar I'm about to nibble on makes me feel better.

Thing the second: Remember my saying that I probably wasn't going to be purchasing any clothing for a while? (You know, in the previous LJ post?) The wonderful Laura at Retroscope Fashions posted preview photos of two new jackets on Steamfashion (clicky-link!) Why yes, I want the black & grey & white pinstriped Victorian-esque jacket, how clever of you to have guessed.

Thing the third: Lightboxes! Blue LED ones! They really work! We recently got one, and I've been using it for about 20 minutes in the mornings while doing my makeup. I must admit, I feel more awake for using it. Yes, the irony of me, a nocturnal-type gothy person who reads a lot of vampire books, benefiting from a lightbox is not lost on me. Stop giggling.

Thing the fourth: Shallow Fashion Details! )

Thing the fifth: I don't wanna go to my meetings today. For no particular reason, I just don't wanna.
This past weekend, [livejournal.com profile] cass404 and [livejournal.com profile] flyingtapes came up from Portland to join [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre and myself at the Cobra Starship show. Which was all sorts of silly fun, even if I was surrounded by shrieking 14 year olds.

That was Saturday. On Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] domestinatrix came over and played kitchen at my house. Since we already had a bunch of people over, I figured I should be a good daughter and call the parents. So Mom & Dad showed up, and [livejournal.com profile] domestinatrix got to play her favorite game of feeding everyone yummy food. I also spent part of the afternoon teaching Princess Tickybox how to draw sigils to protect herself from skerry monsters. What? That is part of a fairy gothmother's job, didn't you know that?

Needless to say, returning to the day job? Kind of strange. (Especially because I had taken Friday off and spent the day working on manuscript revisions.) Being back at the office feels kinda odd.

Events! That you need to know about!

Wednesday Oct. 29th, 6:30 PM: the Harper-Teen "Books With Bite" tour stop in Seattle (well, Redmond). Ellen Schreiber, the author of the Vampire Kisses series, will be at Borders in Redmond. (As will Nancy A. Collins and Claudia Gray.)

Friday Oct 31st, 7:00 PM: American Nightmare: A Halloween Horror Reading, with Michael Montoure. Wayward Coffeehouse in Greenwood.

Thursday Nov. 6th, 6:30 PM-ish?: Angel Ceballos is showing new work during the Nov. Artwalk at 619 Western Ave, Seattle – Starfish Studios, 4th Floor South. (There is a photo of me by her underneath the cut-tag at the end of this post, thus filling my vanity picspam quota for the week.) I won't be at this artwalk, because I will be away. But you should attend it!

Saturday Nov. 15th, 9:00 PM: My birthday party at Club V!

And now, possibly one of the most iconic photos that has ever been taken of me. )

Ohhhhh, cool and overcast and possibly rainy. Could the weather stay like this through Thursday evening, please? You people can have the orb back for the weekend, I promise. I just want proper weather until then. Really, I have a reason other than "Yay gloom!".

To celebrate proper weather, I am wearing my beloved Cavalli jacket from H&M. The one that [livejournal.com profile] e_juliana braved the crowds for to snag for me, the one that looks like it came straight from Adam Ant's closet. No, I didn't manage to get a photo taken this morning, because I was running a bit late.

... I don't really have anything interesting or clever to post at the moment. I just wanted to post Yay weather! So, what's up with you people?
Yay bats! Thank you very much for the v-gift bat on my profile page.

---

Tonight I will try to remember to post the photo of [livejournal.com profile] cass404, [livejournal.com profile] tolkiencub, and myself, taken before we headed out dancing on Saturday night.

... I don't have much to say right now, really. I made a stripey skirt with a ruffled hem this weekend, and hung out with [livejournal.com profile] cass404. I discovered a new-to-me paranormal/urban fantasy series of novels that I really like. Other than that, not much to report. Who knows, I may have more stuff to burble about later, after I have another pot of tea.
Busy. Busy busy busy. Not with work, really, because things are oddly quiet around my part of the Evil Empire. But I'm still busy. Stuff that has been going on includes:

- We went to the Herbfarm last Friday, as a belated anniversary dinner. It was fantastic, and I really need to write up a post about it that includes the menu.

- Trying to get holiday shopping done. As always, my mother is VERY DIFFICULT to shop for. Tomorrow night is the traditional shopping trip with my Dad, which I always look forward to. (For those who haven't met him, my Dad is AWESOME. And crazy. Our yearly holiday shopping expedition is one of the highlights of the holiday season for me.)

- Dentist visits. Let's just say it has been a Very Long Time since I saw a dentist (what with being somewhat afraid of them AND dental insurance wackiness), but last week I finally unearthed my courage and went to one. As it turns out, this particular dentist is very cool (and funny!), so my fear is lessening. (It helps that he has his office set up so I can watch DVDs while he's working on my teeth; last night's movie was Addams Family Values) I now have five new fillings, and next year I have to have all four of my wisdom teeth pulled. No, I am not looking forward to this.

- Writing. I've been working on a bunch of different things, and oh hey! I really need to post a new GCS column, don't I? I'd better finish the current one ...

So, yeah. Busy. Plus being distracted by various things like the Help the Crew donation drive (clicky link, and one you really should click!) that Allyson Beatrice is organizing. (You did know that the Writers' Strike has affected more than just the writers, right? Support the crew!)

Other distractions include discussions on [livejournal.com profile] steamfashion, and various people making sure I saw this picture. ([livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage, don't click that link. You'll roll your eyes and make a fondly exasperated noise, trust me.)

So, with all of that, I've not been around much. I've been reading people's posts, but not commenting a lot.

So I'll just end this update-y post with Shallow Fashion Details, shall I? )
So, are these overwhelming feelings of exhaustion and wooziness a sign of me coming down with something, or PMS? I don't know! Either way, I'm going to take it easy; if I do go for a walk today (which I know, I should), it will be a slow one.

I move to my new building (42) on November 15th. Which means packing, ugh. But it turns out that I will still have my own office, so no having to worry that my assorted posters, spo0o0o0o0oky postcards, and toy monsters will unnerve a new office-mate.

The best comment on the EGL headdress I linked to yesterday came from [livejournal.com profile] domestinatrix: Is there a nicer way to say 'mutton dressed as parlor maid fetish lamb'? Exactly the sort of sanity check I needed. I mean, I still think those sorts of headdress-things are cute, but now I will stop trying to figure out what they'd look like on me.

Today's outfit was put together with the intent of distracting me from my feeling unwell. [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage said I look like a somewhat stern governess. (Yes, that *is* a compliment in our household.) Behind the cut-tag, as always ... )

My former office-mate has already agreed to take a photo of this outfit. I'll try and get the picture posted tonight.

And now it is time for more tea, in a desperate attempt to stave off feeling unwell.
Busy busy busy. Halloween-y stuff (yay!) and work stuff. (Y'know, for someone currently with a beyond-nebulous job description, I have gotten a lot of work dropped on my head. I am not amused by this in the slightest.)

Thank you for all the nice comments on the photos, everyone! Quick outfit and location details for those that wants them )

In other random news, I'm considering breaking down and buying a compact of the palest MAC StudioFix I can, because I need to be extra-pale for Halloween and I do NOT want to go near any of the costume shops at this point.
- Work is ... a sucking void of entropy and uncertainty. There's still no word on what is going on with my team, what we're going to be working on, IF we're going to be working on anything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will hear back VERY SOON from a different team about an interview loop for them.

- Because work is a sucking void of entropy and uncertainty, it is making me listless and filled with ennui. Which is bad, because I've got lots of my own writing to work on, not to mention hey, it's October! One of my favorite months! So I need to shake off the work-induced torpor and really focus on my personal projects.

- I've got a consultation appointment on Sunday with Joe Who to discuss my next tattoo. Swirly bats on my arms, yes indeed.

- So, do any of you have clothing items you constantly search for, even tho' you may already own a couple versions of them? Two of mine are black low-heeled granny boots and black waist-length military-style jackets. Yes, I DO need more of both items. I do. Why are you looking at me like that? No, I do not change the buttons on ALL of my military jackets to pink ones. Just some of them. Of course, speaking of black military jackets and granny boots leads me straight to Shallow Fashion Details! Under the cut tag as usual.

More Cupcake Gothic Military, wheee! )

- Lets see, what else? I'm looking forward to the Unhallowed Metropolis signing party tomorrow night. I'm also looking forward to the Ozzy/Rob Zombie concert on the 18th. (What? You people know I'm a big fan of power chords and wildly over-the-top spectacle. Of course I'm attending the Ozzy/Rob Zombie show!) Oh, and I'm trying to decide if I am just going to give in and purchase S3 episodes of Supernatural off of iTunes, because there is no way I will be able to avoid being spoiled for what is going on.

That's about it for now. If everyone could wish me luck with job things and with writing, it would make me very happy.
I swear, I will try to find the time sometime soon to write proper posts about a bunch of stuff. Just ... not right now.

- The con was good. All the panels I was part of seemed to go really well, and I didn't want to strangle anyone. "Boundaries Doug!"

(Yes, I know, you've probably seen that quote in other peoples' journals. But it will never stop being funny, trust me.)

- I got two of my various copies of the Toronto Sun in the mail over the weekend. My interview (with photo!) was located on the inside cover page. Excuse me while I am (still!) amazed. Inside cover page! Where everyone can see it! (Note to self: go check the Sun's website and see if anyone wrote a letter about the interview.)

- Even tho' I was extremely tired (thanks to visits from the insomnia fairy all weekend), I got dressed up and went out to Vampire Kisses at Blacklight last night. [livejournal.com profile] djeternaldarkne played a bunch of music I like to dance to, AND I won a Fabulous Prize! Ooooh, new Siouxsie performance DVD!

- What else, what else? Oh, right. Between work deadlines, writing for GCS, clothing prep for C13, already-scheduled social events, and two upcoming concerts ... um, you may not see me around much. I'll try to check in on LJ every now and again to let people know I'm Not Dead, but that's about all I can promise at the moment.
