Hi, I've been kind of quiet lately, because I am ridiculously, ridiculously busy. My team is understaffed right now (epic understatement there, and hey, if any of you are technical writers or editors and are job-hunting, drop me a line), so I am currently juggling ...

::stops to count, cross-references with the White Board o' Insanity::

... 4 different projects. All of which are happening right now now NOW.

In addition to work being Do All The Things, homelife is chaotic right now, too. The Stroppy One has a tight deadline, I have a tight self-imposed writing deadline for a project, and hey I probably should get around to writing another Gothic Charm School column, shouldn't I? In addition to wanting to find time to see my friends and family, get some exercise, and start trying to go to bed earlier.

Let me put it this way: I am having to work on reminding myself that pushing and guilting myself to Do All The Things is a quick ticket to exhaustion, CrazyTown, and finding deep emotional resonance and meaning in the lyrics of Pete Wentz*. Ahahahaha.

Anyway, here, have some Goth at the Office photos:

Behind the handy cut tag! )

... the idea of taking tonight off from my assorted responsibilities and projects sounds REALLY enticing. Hmmm.

*The new Fall Out Boy album is delightful, and I find a little too much fun in figuring out which lyrics are going to be rattling around in my head when I'm having a Bad Day.
It kinda is Do All The Things time in JilliLand at the moment. Since Monday I have:

- Covered a top hat with a new skin of antique lace.

- Made a couple paper roses from pages of Dracula.

- Day job, day job, day job.

- SENT MY AGENT THE PROPOSAL AND SAMPLE CHAPTERS FOR THE FICTION PROJECT, OMG.

- Sent email about being a guest at a local con.

- Helped throw a birthday party for Dad.

- Posted the information about the memorial for Mom.

- Went to therapy.

- Dyed a skirt several times, decided it wasn't going to work.

- Cleaned roughly a gazillion strands of faux pearls, then refashioned them into a huge, OTT necklace.

- Ran errands to return some things Mom had purchased.

- Laundry.

- More laundry, involving petticoats and square dance dresses.

- Made an appointment with a local vintage clothing store to talk to them about selling those petticoats and square dance dresses.

- Pestered my HR person until they were able to get the administrator for our health benefits to contact me with info I needed.

It would be nice to think I could maintain this level of productivity. But I know it won't last, alas.

You guys! As I was waiting to fall asleep last night, I was idly thinking of all of the upcoming things, and GOOD LORD, when did my schedule get this packed?

Coming up:

- Photo shoot.
- The Stroppy One's birthday, yay!
- Vampire Ball 3/27
- Norwescon 4/1 - 4/3
- The StuntHusband's birthday, yay!
- Faith and the Muse concert 4/11
- Reading at Night Kitchen 4/15
- HIM concert 4/17

All of these are very fun and exciting things I am looking forward to. I'm just kind of amazed at how busy my schedule got. Time to dust off my time-management skills, because in addition to all of that and the day job, I've got a bunch of writing to do. Whoosh!

Last night at Club V was all sorts of fun, if crowded, and a good wrap-up for a busy day.

Today is just as busy, in a different manner. Today is all about reorganizing and cleaning the library. Moving furniture, trying to find new storage places for things, the works. Ah well, it needs to be done, and needs to be done by Tuesday, for a particular reason that I'm not discussing yet.

Soooo, what that means is I should stop dawdling around on LJ, huh?
This week has been one long case of sleep deprivation. Which means I've kind of been in a "can't brain" state all week, and wow is that not helpful for getting writing done. At least now that the weather has decided to just go ahead and rain, I no longer want to drill holes in my head to see if that would help with the sinus headaches.

---

Good grief, the next handful of weeks are busy! This weekend, [livejournal.com profile] pix_kristin is visiting, yay! Next weekend, it's [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage's birthday! The weekend after that, the Vampire Ball in PDX! Then there's the Jill Tracy CD release party on April 1st (which [livejournal.com profile] tolkiencub is kindly escorting me to. On his birthday. This is one of the many reasons why he is the best stunt husband ever.), and then April 8 & 9 is another trip to PDX to see TWO MCR shows in a row. (Yes, I'm going to both. You can roll your eyes at me all you want, I don't care. Wheeeee!)

Along with all of that is a lot of writing I need to do, [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage working on a tight deadline, and oh, did I mention a mad scramble of stuff at work? Yeah. I may be kind of scarce for a bit.

---

One of my dreams last night was about me sitting in a meeting discussing color swatches and packaging mock-ups for a limited edition GCS line from MAC. Ha! I would love for that dream to come true (come on, you have to admit a "snarkling" lipstick would be FANTASTIC), but I'm not going to hold my breath until it does.

In Things I Really Should Be Aware Of news: it's a simple 5-minute bus ride to get from my office to a local thrift store. This is dangerous information for me to have.

::looks at FL:: Hey, I owe some of you email replies, don't I. I'll do those today, I swear.
I swear, I will try to find the time sometime soon to write proper posts about a bunch of stuff. Just ... not right now.

- The con was good. All the panels I was part of seemed to go really well, and I didn't want to strangle anyone. "Boundaries Doug!"

(Yes, I know, you've probably seen that quote in other peoples' journals. But it will never stop being funny, trust me.)

- I got two of my various copies of the Toronto Sun in the mail over the weekend. My interview (with photo!) was located on the inside cover page. Excuse me while I am (still!) amazed. Inside cover page! Where everyone can see it! (Note to self: go check the Sun's website and see if anyone wrote a letter about the interview.)

- Even tho' I was extremely tired (thanks to visits from the insomnia fairy all weekend), I got dressed up and went out to Vampire Kisses at Blacklight last night. [livejournal.com profile] djeternaldarkne played a bunch of music I like to dance to, AND I won a Fabulous Prize! Ooooh, new Siouxsie performance DVD!

- What else, what else? Oh, right. Between work deadlines, writing for GCS, clothing prep for C13, already-scheduled social events, and two upcoming concerts ... um, you may not see me around much. I'll try to check in on LJ every now and again to let people know I'm Not Dead, but that's about all I can promise at the moment.
