Y'know those "twist" lace dresses? Usually made by Nostalgia or Starina, with full skirts (usually with gauze gores to make the skirts even fuller) and princess seams?

I found one made out of good, heavy-duty and non-stretchy fishnet. By Lip Service. I don't remember ever seeing this in a catalog. But there it was on eBay, for a ridiculously low price, in my size!

It arrived today, and looking at it makes me suspect it was a production sample that found its way into the wild. There's a Lip Service tag in it, but no materials/care/line ID tag.

Flouncy, witchy, full-skirted dress, in good fishnet? Hello new summer dress, how are you? You will be paired with a cotton tank top and a super-full cotton skirt. And a giant sun hat, of course.
The Closet Culling Sale of Doom post will go up THIS FRIDAY (8/13) at NOON PACIFIC STANDARD TIME! Tiny hats! Boots! Jackets, skirts, blouses, Lip Service stuff! And remember, I'm only taking PayPal this time around.

So, clothing coveting. Lip Service's Step In Time line for Fall 2010, to be exact.

I love this fabric. LOVE. )

Have I mentioned how much I love the Blacklist Cameo jacket from Lip Service yet? I do. I want them to make this jacket style in alllllll sorts of fabrics.

And the back of the jacket )

Firstly, everyone should go read The Strange Case Of Mr. Salad Monday over at Tor.com. A story full of all sorts of steampunk-ish fun which I thought was wonderful.

Going to work orientation was fine. Ambien did indeed knock me right out, hurrah! (Send your pity to the Stroppy One, however, who got to bed very very late because of a deadline he's working on.) Orientation was exactly what I expected it to be: filling out paperwork and pep talks. Eh, whatever. I have a job!

---

This week involves filming some stuff for another GCS video, and then going to see Emilie Autumn and visiting friends! (Oooh, and going to Sock Dreams and Powells, yes.) And our wedding anniversary! Yes, we got married on Halloween. Of course we did!

(What the heck am I going to wear to the EA concert? Must dither over wardrobe.)

This week also involves working on two or three different writing projects, so I can get as much as possible done before the start of the new job next week. Sadly, my brain doesn't feel very capable of proper writing right now. Oh dear.

Another clicky-link! Redemption Klothing, the sweethearts, have posted the photos for the Lip Service Lolita Candy line. I. Am. DOOMED. Strangely, the black-on-black stripe colorway doesn't appeal to me. But the black and pink? YES PLEASE NOW NOW NOW. I want at least one of everything, including the men's shirt, in the black and pink stripe.
By about 10:30, I had nodded off over the computer a couple of times, and the Stroppy One realized he needed more sleep if he was going to be safe to drive to run some errands later. So, nappage happened, but only for two hours, and I no longer have the going-to-hallucinate-any-time-now sensation, so that's a bonus.

What I do have at the moment is a small(ish) fluffy white and brown cat sprawled across my arms. Apparently Trinian Queen of Fuzzwumpia has decided that now is the time for me to support her entire weight across my forearms. This makes typing interesting.

In shallow fashion coveting news, I have been lucky enough to see some preview photos of Lip Service's "Lolita Candy" spring 2010 line. I am DOOMED. Remember the first time I mentioned this line, and said that the colorways it was going to be offered in were black-on-black and black/pink? The black/pink colorway is black and pink striped. As in, my holy grail of fabric pattern. And in items that would fit in seamlessly with my existing wardrobe, such as knee-length full skirts with ruffles, ruffled blouses, a waist cincher (clicky-link to line drawings of the items!) ... yep, doomed.

---

I wonder if I have enough powers of concentration to go lay out pattern pieces and then put the fabric in a dye bath? This could be exciting.

The wonderful folks over at Redemption Klothing put up the sketches for the Lip Service Spring 2010 lines. (Yes yes, clicky-link!) Oooh, look at all the gothy-goth and Victorian-esque goodies! The Blacklist high-collar top and long-sleeved jacket, the Lolita Candy layered skirt, the Step In Time Like Clockwork underbust corset and button front jacket; all of those things make me squeak (weakly, right now) at the monitor. (All of those were clicky-links, but I'm sure you figured that out.)

Another nice distraction was my Mom calling to check on me, and then telling me about what Halloween merchandise she's seen out on the sales floor of the Fred Meyer she works at. She promised to keep an eye out for the (sure to be coming) stock of b&w stripy tights. (What, how else did you think I stocked up on them? I have connections.)

I am feeling just well enough to become easily restless and fidgety. This is bad, because as soon as I try to do something, my energy reserves run out. Maybe I should follow [livejournal.com profile] maiaarts lead and spend some time playing around on Polyvore? Would that keep me from becoming fidgety?

Things That Make Me Happy, Day the Second:

- Chocolove dark chocolate with orange peel.

- The "24 Songs About Vampires" playlist that [livejournal.com profile] smu made me.

- That I posted a new GCS entry today.

Something That Makes Me Go "Squeee!", Even Tho' It Spells Doom For My Spending Money:

Over in the [livejournal.com profile] lippy_addicts community, [livejournal.com profile] hirudo posted a rundown of what the Fall 2009 Lip Service lines are going to be. A shadow-stripe sateen ladies' military tailcoat? An EGL/EGA -influenced line with pewter bat clasps? More Victorian-esque jackets? Doomed. I am so doomed.
