"Due to a lackluster turn out of applications for the March 10th Mourning Market, we regret that we are canceling the show. We will let you know when our next show will be held and when applications will be accepted."

So now I ponder if I should (finally!) set up an Etsy store and sell the Deluxe ElderGoth Nostalgia bags that I was planning on creating. Each bag would have a vintage gothy magazine (of the Propaganda/Carpe Noctem/Ghastly/Permission sort), dark lipstick, eyeliner, incense, and a bunch of other Goth Nostalgia fodder (lace, ribbons, jewelry, vintage fliers, and so on).

Not that I should be thinking about this sort of thing right now. I need to be concentrating on WRITING, not any other sort of project. Because telling myself that will TOTALLY make it happen, right? Right.
I know that any money I make at Sunday's Mourning Market is going to be spent on a trip to the dayspa, because spending a day DOING NOTHING, wandering from hot pool to sauna, and getting a body scrub will be really good for me and the Antibiotic Cellular Death Explosion (TM the Infamous BlueJay). But what I want to spend the money on?

The Shrine "Toreador" jacket in black (clicky-link!)

That, or my next tattoo. I really, really am craving new ink. Plus, the next tattoo is in memorial of my Mom, so it's even more important to me.

I will be a smart cupcake, and spend money on something that will give me health benefits. That doesn't stop me from wistfully window-shopping, tho'.

This coming Sunday, I will be vending at Mourning Market! Gothic Charm School books, art prints, Cranky!Bloomers, book roses, and maybe some other extra-special goodies! Please come visit! (And, y'know, buy stuff, because I'm hoping to turn a profit and maybe get my next tattoo. ::grin::

Today was busy. In addition to brunch with fabulous people, today was the big supply run for Mourning Market items. Blick art supplies, two thrift stores, Marshall's, Michael's ... I'm sure I'm forgetting somewhere.

Anyhoodle, I now have 8 pairs of blanks to make Cranky!Bloomers!! I have teacups to paint! I have books to make roses from! But it was a lot of running around, and now I am going to fall over. And watch episodes of True Blood with the Infamous BlueJay and Heather, because that's how we decompress around here.
- Today is the last day of the dayjob, which means I am now freaking out thinking about all the things I need to get done. I have realized that I need multiple To Do lists to keep everything in order. Ahahahahahahaha. My eventual dream/goal is to become successful enough that I can hire a personal assistant. Because ZOMG, that would make life simpler. (So would a housekeeper.)

- I am in a better mood today. Okay, I feel kind of overwhelmed, but I don't feel unreasonably cranky or low. I will take what progress I can get, thanks.

- EVENT! EVENT! I am vending at Mourning Market on August 21st at Club Motor! Wheeee! Gothic Charm School books and art prints, Cranky!Bloomers, book roses, and maybe some other exciting things. If you're in the Seattle area, please stop by! http://www.mourningmarket.com/

- The settings for cross-posting between DW and LJ are thwarting me, currently. Which means doing this by hand, whee.

- I talked to my doctor yesterday: according to my latest bloodwork, the numbers for the marker for the Lyme disease dropped! So the current mix of antibiotics and supplements I'm on are working, oh frabjous day! But I still need to learn/remember that I have to factor in a day of crashing after an event, grrr.

- Accessory sanity check: how ridiculous would it be to take my cupcake pink vintage vinyl purse (a frame style with kisslock closure), and sew a skeleton hand (decorated with a black satin bow at the wrist, of course) on it? In other words, just like most of my other purses, but with the color scheme flipped. *I* think it would look great, but I realize I may be in the midst of a decorate ALL THE THINGS with bones! frenzy.

Random things:

- I'm in Portland! (And it sounds like roughly a gazillion people I know will be here over the weekend.) I'm here for one of my regular visits to [livejournal.com profile] cass404, with an extra bit of secret side project meetings. So, y'know, fun and hijinks! The only downside is that one of the secret side project meetings is at 8:30 in the morning on Saturday. Oh dear. Everyone think awake thoughts at me on Saturday, please?

- Speaking of Portland, oh hey! GearCon is happening this weekend, and a bunch of nifty people will be there, including Cherie Priest, Unwoman, and oodles of other steampunk-y types. I don't know if I'll be able to manage stopping by, but I may try.

- If you're in Seattle on Friday night, you should go to El Corazon to see Shedu! If I were in town, I'd be out to cheer them on, so obviously some of you peeps should go do that for me.

- A cool and badass thing related to SDCC happening this weekend: http://comicconpervs.tumblr.com/ . A Tumblr blog dedicated to taking and posting pictures of the creepy asshats who try to take surreptitious up-skirt photos of women at the con. I fully support this sort of public shaming for those jerks, and have been telling everyone I know online about the project.

- Event Advance Warning! I will be vending at Mourning Market in August! Cranky!Bloomers, literary roses, copies of the Gothic Charm School book and art prints, and (if I have the time to make another pair) spike-adorned shoes. (The time-consuming part is needing to take photos of the process, so I can post a tutorial on GCS.)

So! Stuff! Things! I hope all of you folks are doing well.
I'm incredibly tired, and have a huge To Do list* that is staring meaningfully at me. So no Mourning Market for me. But! All you other Seattle people should go! Shop, and take pictures! And post them! So I can live vicariously through you! (Here, have some more exclamation points!!!!)

*This To Do list may, just perhaps, include more clothing culling. Consider this a very vague advance warning.
- Thanks for all the input about the deathrock safety pin blazer idea, folks! I spent last night with the seam ripper and safety pins, and I think the jacket turned out splendidly. I am thinking of wearing it to Mourning Market on Sunday.

- Which leads me to my next point: Seattle people! Go to Mourning Market on Sunday! 12 - 5 PM at Motor, 1950 1st Ave S. Support your local alternative craftspeople!

- Last night, while the Stroppy One was working on a project and I was putting safety pins in a blazer, we watched The Vampire's Assistant. I was very pleasantly surprised by it! A far better movie than I had expected, and my only real quibble with it is also the reason I haven't read the Circ du Freak series: ZOMG GIANT SPIDER, DO NOT WANT, THANKS. Yes, the movie version of Octa was bright red and blue and a bit cartoonish. Still moved like a damn spider, and that's a big part of my phobia right there. Let's just say there were sections of the movie where I shrieked, hid behind [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny, and waited for the Stroppy One to tell me when it was safe to look at the screen again. Hi, I'm a goth and I'm terrified of spiders.

- PSA for Aromaleigh users: the Voile and Glissade foundations are being discontinued, as are Pure Cover and Pure Rouge. Argh! I am consoling myself with the knowledge that mineral makeup doesn't ever go bad, and so have made an order to stock up on my precious Alabaster Glissade (with an extra jar of Ghost, just to be safe). And on my next Aromaleigh order, I need to stock up on the Bleeding Poppy and Skeleton Key shades from the limited edition Victoria's Revenge line.

Okay, time to finish my second pot of tea, edit some more docs, and then go play with makeup.
It was lovely to see folks at Mourning Market! Thank you to everyone who came by and said hi, and an extra-big thank you to folks who purchased goodies. ::grin::

Coming soon to this LJ: three pairs of "Cranky" bloomers for sale. (So those of you who were sad you weren't, oh, in Seattle, you still have a chance at them!)

I did indeed end up purchasing a(nother) hat from [livejournal.com profile] noxenlux Curse you, Carlee! But it will be a good "everyday wear" hat for me, so it's totally justifiable. Really. (Plus I had saved up for it.)

Tonight is low-key flopping on the couch, I think. Next week, writing up the proposal for the second Gothic Charm School book to send to my Agent of Awesome.
Remember! This coming Sunday, myself and oodles of other talented people will be vending at the Mourning Market! 12-5PM at Club Motor (1950 1st Ave Seattle, WA 98134). I will be selling the Gothic Charm School book, art prints from the book, hand-embroidered "cranky" bloomers, and stripy heart brooches. Come on by and say hello!

---

Yes, I have been thinking about a second Gothic Charm School book. (Because I ... have too much free time? Something like that.) An obvious subject for me to expand upon would be fashion, because hello, I like talking about clothes. (I'm considering including a few tutorials, but I'm leery of treading over well-worn ground that others such as Voltaire have covered.)

Which leads to my question! What sort of things would you like to see in another Gothic Charm School book? Tell me in the comments. Brainstorming is fun!
It's 11:39AM, and I am still in my pjs.I've been out of bed for 39 minutes. Hello, unemployment!

Last night's sleep was ... fitful, I think that's the word I want. My brain was being a not-fun place as I was trying to get to sleep, and replaying things from my past that I didn't want to be revisiting, thanks. I have learned that in times like those, the best things I can do are concentrate on the sound of the Stroppy One breathing as he sleeps, and have [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny resting nose-to-nose with me. Both those things are very comforting.

---

Today involves chores (laundry, re-starting my unemployment claim, scheduling some appointments) and writing. Tonight involves sewing, as I need to get started on making and embroidering the various bloomers I'm going to be selling at Mourning Market in Feb. Yes, I will be offering some of the "Cranky" bloomers for sale! Along with books and art prints and little fuzzy heart brooches.

---

Speaking of selling, why I need to finish clearing/organizing the Storage Heap Room: I was rummaging around up there last night, searching for something in the part I hadn't gotten during the last clear-out. I didn't find what I was looking for, but I did find a vintage 70s Gunne Sax calico dress, the box where all the safety pins I ever owned went to hide, a book I had forgotten I owned, and a pair of Olde Skool batcave gothy boots, all pointy toes and buckles. With hardly any scuffing on the toes! Since I already have a pair of Olde Skool batcave gothy boots, these newly-discovered ones will be going in the "Sell!" box.
