It's 11:39AM, and I am still in my pjs.I've been out of bed for 39 minutes. Hello, unemployment!

Last night's sleep was ... fitful, I think that's the word I want. My brain was being a not-fun place as I was trying to get to sleep, and replaying things from my past that I didn't want to be revisiting, thanks. I have learned that in times like those, the best things I can do are concentrate on the sound of the Stroppy One breathing as he sleeps, and have [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny resting nose-to-nose with me. Both those things are very comforting.

---

Today involves chores (laundry, re-starting my unemployment claim, scheduling some appointments) and writing. Tonight involves sewing, as I need to get started on making and embroidering the various bloomers I'm going to be selling at Mourning Market in Feb. Yes, I will be offering some of the "Cranky" bloomers for sale! Along with books and art prints and little fuzzy heart brooches.

---

Speaking of selling, why I need to finish clearing/organizing the Storage Heap Room: I was rummaging around up there last night, searching for something in the part I hadn't gotten during the last clear-out. I didn't find what I was looking for, but I did find a vintage 70s Gunne Sax calico dress, the box where all the safety pins I ever owned went to hide, a book I had forgotten I owned, and a pair of Olde Skool batcave gothy boots, all pointy toes and buckles. With hardly any scuffing on the toes! Since I already have a pair of Olde Skool batcave gothy boots, these newly-discovered ones will be going in the "Sell!" box.

will you be selling the Crankypants bloomers online in the future? I'd love a pair!

Eventually, yes! In fact, if there are any left over from Mourning Market, those will be the first ones offered online.

Ooo, tell me more about these boots? *puppy eyes*

I'm a long-time reader (new follower on LJ) of your column as the Lady of the Manners. I offer my sympathy, as well, about the fitful sleeping. That my own darling snores--likely with sleep apnea--such that I have to wear earplugs, doesn't help--but I've rarely slept well since HS. I'm 27 now, for the record. I've since then learned to cope, and I do recommend learning to tell your 'mind' that likes to reply unpleasant things "SHUT UP". (Or have clovis do it--much love to the devil-bunny.) Meditation can help, in those moments too, when needed--along with music. Stuffed animals most DEFINITELY help. (Has her own collection, including wee-ninja Sousuke and vampire Bat plushie George.)

So, really, just sympathies and my best, as well as my admiration for your writing. Both as part of GCS and on your LJ.

Boots: They're the classic gothy boot. Black leather, pointy toes, zips up the front, and has 9 straps and buckles on each boot. The toes are a little worn and scuffed, but not a lot.

Sleep: I'm a life-long insomniac. I have memories of being about 5 years old and not being able to fall asleep. I stayed up and quietly played with my toys or read. As I've gotten older, the insomnia/noisy brain has gotten worse. Ugh.

Ooo, I wish I had money to see about buying--although I don't think they'd be my size, nor do I think you'd want to pay for shipping. (I'm on the East Coast, by BWI Airport.)

I'm right there with you in the insomnia department, although I remember it being far worse from HS on through 'til now, compared to when I was younger. I also had trouble sleeping, and would often read or make up stories in my brain.

Kij is coming over Wednesday evening (I think), but other than that, both evenings should be fine!

Either evening works for me, and I'd love to come see you. Do you have a preference for either people all at once or people distributed over different evenings? Either way works for me.

what size are those boots? Also, picture of said boots?

just so you know, I love the black suede boots with the silver metal trim on the toes that you gave me when I visited you. They go fabulously when I want to take my zoot suits in a darker direction.

Woe, for you wear your boots one size larger than I do!

Psst: have you found any coats in the Storage Heap Room? You mentioned that you might have some.

I made this for you. http://strawberrygoth.deviantart.com/art/The-Lady-of-the-Mini-Bats-150115296

Hope you sleep better.

I'd ask you the cost of the Gunne Sax dress (I ....sorta collect them. I have three dresses and a skirt!), but I have a feeling it's a larger size than I wear.

Word of advice: Ebay that sucker. Some of the more popular styles of Gunne Sax I've seen go for over a hundred bucks. And if you do, include a picture of the size tag....I'm endlessly irritated by people who tell you "it's a modern 4/5" and the measurements but not the size on the tag. They'll take a picture of the tag that points out it's a real Gunne Sax and cut the size number out of the picture! Hellooo, if I know why the real brand is worth more, I know what size I wear. I know I wear a 7 or 9 in older clothes. Gah.

Hi you're awesome!
Best advice I ever got for insomnia (I have a tendency to lie awake thinking very hard about stuff eg. what am I going to wear tomorrow? lolz!)

concentrate on imagining a silver ball
visualise every tiny detail of your silver ball
if you find yourself thinking about something, just stop and reconcentrate on that silver ball
it might help to repeat a word of phrase over in your head eg. nothing

nowadays if I lie awake thinking for too long I know I only have myself to blame, for not concentrating hard enough
but sometimes, I WANT to lie awake and think! Anyway hope this helps!
