- The Stroppy One just got off the phone with the vet. Tzepesh is eating of his own volition, so they may not have to put the feeding tube in. We have an appointment at 4PM tomorrow which, if we're lucky, will be his discharge appointment. He's going to be on steroids for life, but that's no big deal, really.

We're going to go visit him today; when the Stroppy One visited him last night, Tzepesh had more energy and was very affectionate.

- Have I mentioned that I'm going to be at SakuraCon? I am! And I'm doing a panel/Q&A thing at 10PM on the Friday night of the convention. Come on down, say hi!

- For those of you who went and looked at my DW journal: No, I don't cross-post much stuff there. I mainly use it for reading the folks who have migrated away from LJ. (I am not planning on leaving LJ, for various reasons. Including the fact that long-ago, the StuntHusband gave me a permanent account. All my things are here!)

- Okay, why did none of you tell me that the Slayer & Rob Zombie "Hell On Earth" tour is playing Seattle in August? Yes, I plan on going. Rob Zombie puts on a fabulous live show, and Slayer is always fun. (Tho' come to think of it, I never really owned anything by them. Slayer were always one of the bands the assorted boyfriends listened to.)
I've seen a couple of other people mention this stuff, and realized I should also do so. In addition to LJ, I can be found on Twitter, Tumblr, and Dreamwidth.

Whoo, tonight is the Portland MCR concert! To say that I am looking forward to this show would be putting it rather mildly. And then on Sunday, the Seattle MCR concert! Two MCR shows in three days! Lemme see your jazz hands! [/obligatory Killjoys reference]

Oh, and everyone wish me luck: because I am exactly that crazy, I entered the drawing to be selected as a "Road Reporter" for the Seattle show. The prize is photo passes and attending the Meet & Greet, and then you have to send them your write-up of the show within 10 hours. OF COURSE I entered the drawing.

In other news, April Fool's Day. No, I don't do April Fool's jokes or pranks. I spend the day being wary and suspicious of everything, which makes me kind of cranky. (I don't LIKE being wary and suspicious! That's not my default setting, dammit.)
Reading through [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre's line edits on fiction project is a perfect thing to do with a sinus migraine, right? Right. Writing is about SITTING DOWN AND WRITING, Cupcake. So you will do that.

(Seriously, if I wasn't so behind on my self-imposed writing schedule, I would do nothing today but flop on the couch and whimper. But things Must Be Done, so self-discipline is the key.)

Hey, have I reminded everyone about the SeaGoth Rummage sale coming up on Sunday? Not today, I haven't!

December 5th, 2010
4228 Stone Way N
Noon to 5pm

There are 23 Bags! Of! Mystery! awaiting purchasers, filled with goodies from not just my collection of crafting goodies, but from the Infamous BlueJay's stash, too. How can you resist? You can't, just accept your fate and buy a Bag! Of! Mystery!

---

Okay, enough distraction via internet. Time to get back to reading line edits.
Sunday, December 5th!

SeaGoth Swap Meet
December 5th, 2010
4228 Stone Way N
Noon to 5pm

Quoth [livejournal.com profile] alexiarnps: "There will be ample space for any one who wants to sell to have a card or folding table and a garment rack. This is 1021 square feet of hardwood with a full bathroom, kitchen and room for people to try on items (there will also be a full length mirror). Coffee/tea and cookies will be provided." If you are interested in selling stuff, contact [livejournal.com profile] alexiarnps.

Yes, I will be selling MORE STUFF. The wardrobe culling continues! I may even put together more Bags Of Mystery! to tempt people with.

There is going to be a wide range of things in all styles and sizes. I know Alexia is clearing out a lot of housewares, Coach bags, CorpGoth stuff, club clothes, and J.Peterman items. I am going to have clothes, fabric, shoes, and purses.

There will be more posts about this. Trust me, many, many reminders will be happening.
So, those ridiculously coy posting memes on Facebook about purse or bra color that are supposedly for raising awareness about breast cancer? You know, the ones that DON'T ACTUALLY MENTION CANCER? Yeah, people more articulate than I (like, oh, [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda) have posted very good rants about the idiocy of those memes.

However. There's a new one.

The example: )
"Hopefully this will raise awareness not only of Breast Cancer, but also of the practices that can help detect it early and prevent it from being a killer."

How, exactly, will these sorts of posts raise awareness of breast cancer and detection practices when they're just more coy, tee-hee nonsense?

You want to raise awareness about breast cancer? Then talk about it. Openly. Don't hide behind coy and giggly innuendo. TALK ABOUT IT. Talk about how it has affected your life. Talk about how stupid it is to put off scheduling mammograms. (Hi, I'm an idiot. I'm very lucky that the check-up I recently had was fine, and ignoring the reminders to schedule that appointment was REALLY DUMB OF ME. Don't use me as a role model for this sort of thing.)

My apologies to the handful of you who have included me on FB messages suggesting women make these sorts of posts. I know you mean well. But this sort of, well, pointless internet "activism" make me crazy.
The Seattle Steampunk Swapmeet:
September 18th, noon to 6PM.
All Pilgrims Christian Church
500 Broadway East (lower level)

The Great Goth Yard Sale, vol. II:
Sunday, September 26
Noon-4 p.m. (no early birds; you show up early, you get put to work on setup)
22nd Ave & E Columbia St, in the Central District

Yes, I'm going to be at both. Clothes, makeup, jewelry, BPAL, surprise bags of crafting supplies - trust me, you want to show up to at least one of these.

(The makeup, jewelry, and BPAL will probably NOT be at the Steampunk Swapmeet, but WILL be at the Great Goth Yard Sale.)

(You know what this means? This means I am doing even MORE culling of the closets over the next week or so. I will be stricter with myself about culling!)
(Reposted from [livejournal.com profile] rm's journal)

[livejournal.com profile] bifemmefatale's 16-year-old daughter has run away from home
in the Chicago-area. She is currently believed to be heading towards a
Rainbow Gathering in Carbondale, IL.

Her family is very worried about her. If you can take a
moment to take a look at this picture and keep an eye out for her, that
would be good

Yes, this is all a reminder that whatever you put on the internet could come back in ways you didn't expect. But that "feature" of the cross post including the title or first sentence of a (possibly) locked post? Aside from the potential for drama-farming, there's the very real issues of people who want to keep their LJ identity FAR AWAY from whatever public FB they may have.

The thing that has me raising my eyebrows however, is the incompatibilities between how LJ treats your content and how FB treats it. Essentially, LJ says "Hey, your content is your content", whereas FB says "Hey, your content is your content, until someone else posts it or links to it anywhere on FB. Then it's our content!"

(That's a very, VERY simple explanation of it all, but it does cover the important points.)

So. Double-check your settings (http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/?cat=extensions), and be very aware of what tickyboxes are available or highlighted when you're commenting.

Guess what? I'm going to have a table there. Yes, a local version of the Closet Culling Sale! Plus I'll be selling mystery grab-bags of crafting goodies. So mark your calendars and show up!
Here's your advance warning, gang! The closet-culling sale will happen on:

Friday, August 13th! Noon PST!

(Yes, Friday the 13th. I thought it was too funny to pass up.)

This time, the sale will be PayPal ONLY. Yes, I will ship internationally, but the usual caveats and extra costs will apply.

My chiropractor = wonderful as always. Whoo, my back and neck don't hurt anymore!
The Value Village in Edmonds (21558 Highway 99), as of today, had a bunch of interesting black cotton blouses (that were not quite Victorian-ish enough for me, but would be perfect for dressier corpgoth wear), some cute lace dresses (very 30s looking), and a vintage parasol with a black canopy in perfect condition. Yes, I passed over the parasol, because I realized my parasol collection is ... well, I don't really need another, and if I DO decide I need a new parasol in my life, I'm saving my pennies and buying the Signature Bella in b&w.

Now, back to writing and chores. (One of which is now "stain removal on the vintage pink & white satin, giant poof skirted 80s prom dress".) That will be transformed into a lovely ruffled skirt for me, oh yes.
Miss K's post about it is here: http://www.aromaleigh.com/aromaleighnews.html

I am very sad to see this. I understand why she came to this decision, and I wish her well. But damn. Aromaleigh had become my favorite cosmetic company, and the Victoria's Revenge collection was (I thought) the start of a wonderful new era.

For the next two weeks, she's offering a 35% off with the coupon code ADIEU35.

The Ballard Goodwill has, in the "Fashion Forward" section, a long leather (or it may be heavy vegi leather, I'm not sure) Tripp skirt for $20. It looked brand new, and had many buckles, snaps, and chains. I considered purchasing it and selling it on to someone, but decided to leave it there for some lucky gothling to find.

(The same store had a FANTASTIC pair of dusty rose & black granny boots. That were, alas, perched on 4" stiletto heels. Dammit.)

Y'know, in case you've been staring covetously at the Victoria's Revenge collection or something ...

And now, I try to write. I don't know if I'm in the headspace for it, but I need to make an effort.
Waking up with a sinus-pressure migraine

Not being able to eat or drink anything until almost noon, due to having blood drawn for my yearly physical

REALLY BAD sinus migraine, with bonus blood-sugar issues and a caffeine-deprivation headache. I've not really looked at LJ so far today. Which brings me to my usual request: if there's something going on that you think I should know about and possibly missed today, please send me email or leave a comment.

(I know trepanation is a bad idea. I KNOW. But golly, it sounds tempting right now. If I could just drill a tiny hole to release this pressure in my head ...)

I spent all day in a meeting, and have not seen email, LJ, or anything online at all. I'm going to try and get caught up on mail tonight. If there's something I absolutely need to know about, let me know in the comments, please!
