So over the course of last night, I wrote 5,044 words, for a story that is due tomorrow. Those of you who follow me on FB got to see the real-time madness; I hope it was amusing.

The story is for an anthology that hasn't been officially announced yet, but when it IS, I will be telling everyone. So yes, it's fiction, and it's not part of the serial I've been writing for Steampunk Tales.

Tonight, I go over the feedback from my brilliant, lovely, talented beta readers, and tomorrow I send the story off. And then get back to the other looming projects, ahahahahaha.

I would like to offer heartfelt thanks to The Republic of Tea for their caffeine-free Chocolate Strawberry Red and Red Velvet Chocolate teas. (clicky-links!) They are scrumptious.

Realizing that I have all the ingredients to make a batch of vanilla cupcakes with chocolate buttercream frosting? Perhaps dangerous.

Perhaps.

But it gave me an excuse to use my bat-festooned cupcake wrappers.

Good things about today:

- I discovered that the Blackbird Candy Shoppe has been absorbed into the Fieldhouse branch of Blackbird, and they do indeed still stock the Rococo Rose and Rococo Violet chocolate bars.

- I tried absinthe black salt caramels, and good heavens, are they tasty.

- I went to a birthday party for a lovely three year old girl, and got to play in a room full of bouncy castles. Giant bouncy castle slide! BOUNCY CASTLES. This may come as a surprise to some of you, but I love bouncy castles. LOVE.

- I have realized that I have the perfect velvet jacket and narrow pink ruffled trim to create a version of the jacket that [livejournal.com profile] zombieplaything drew me wearing.

- At the thrift store, I discovered a hardback book titled The Clovis Incident. Yes, I purchased it. I have no idea what it is about, and don't really care.

Wheee! I hope the coming week is as good as today.
After we went to the Ballard Farmers' Market yesterday, I decided to stop by the Blackbird Candy shop, with the intention of picking up another of the amazing violet chocolate bars from Rococo Chocolates.

BLACKBIRD CANDY SHOP IS CURRENTLY CLOSED.

::cue stamping of feet and general sulking::

I love floral-infused chocolate, and Rococo Chocolate's violet and rose chocolate bars were the best I'd ever found. Does Rococo Chocolate ship to the US? Ha. No, they do not.

Woe! Woe and despair!

Theo Chocolate had a fantastic rose & ginger dark chocolate bar, but it was a Valentine's -only special. (I knew I should have picked up more of them!)

Do any of you lovely folks know of good rose or violet -flavored chocolates?
Victory is MINE!

- 8 boxes of things to go to Goodwill.

- 7 big bags of trash to go to the dump.

- Lots and lots of paper and cardboard for recycling.

- 9 storage bins of fabric.

- 2 storage bins of assorted trim, ribbon, and lace.

- Clothes hung up in the closet and on the clothes rack, omg.

- All of the bits and pieces for jewelry-making in one box! (In no way organized, but all in one box!)

- 1 storage bin full of clothes that I'm either altering or selling.

- The kingdom of safety pins now lives in its own little fortress. (Also known as a fancy box.)

I found the far wall! I found the floor! Also, my storage room apparently comes with a fine layer of bat and star confetti, sequins, and glitter. No, I'm not surprised by this.

And now, I am going to flop on the couch, drink my vodka, rose, and tonic, and eat half a brownie. Later tonight, I will bathe in blood. (Yes, I purchased more vividly-colored bath salts from [livejournal.com profile] staxxy. What can I say, sometimes a girl just needs to bathe in blood.)

(Yes, Stroppy One and Stax, I know I'm doing that weird thing with my chin again. Really, I'm trying to train myself not to do that.)

The rings on the other hand )

(My hand is resting on my "Rococo Violet" chocolate bar. Yes, chocolate and violet, from www.rococochocolates.com.)

For those of you who were exclaiming and wibbling over my garnet coffin ring, You should take a look at Coffin Gems.

A simple indulgence? Chocolate. Yes, I know, a stereotypical answer, but it's true. I currently have three bars of Theo Chocolates ginger & rose dark chocolate stockpiled, because I love it so and it's a seasonal offering. when I have a day job, I keep a bar of dark chocolate at my desk.

Would I consider giving it up permanently? Not for money. If absolutely dire health reasons were the reason, then yes. But for money, even oodles of it? No. Partially because I really like chocolate, partially because the chemicals in dark chocolate work really well on my biochemistry, and are actually very helpful in dealing with some of my bad brain days.

... now I want chocolate. And coffee. (Like that's a surprise.)

Today involves writing, taking pictures, and possibly starting a clothing alteration project I've been thinking about. The next ruffled skirt project is going to be from cream & pink striped fabric (well, sheets), and may also involve black velvet piping on the seams and hems of the ruffles. Maybe. Let's see if I want to work on something that fiddly. (But my goodness, it would be striking.)

Oh! And I have to email [livejournal.com profile] jaborwhalky. (Now that I've written it here, I will remember to do so, right?)

I'm having an exasperating day. I am also suffering from a sinus headache that is making me entertain longing thoughts of self-trepanation, and I'm just not in a very good mood. So I repeat: bah. And grrrr.

So! I'm going to distract myself by talking about perfume. Oh Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, why do you want to take all of my money? You see, in the Valentine's Day limited edition scents (available until March 13th), there is a collection named Box of Chocolates.

Ooooh, chocolate perfume )

Wow, I am in a terrible mood. I should go eat lunch; maybe that will help.
We checked out Cafe Dilettante's new location up on Broadway today. I've been going to Dilettante since I was a small child, but I hadn't been there in a few years because, quite honestly, the service had gone far, far downhill.

The new incarnation of Dilettante, however, is fantastic. The space is lovely, and a much better layout than their old location. In addition to the chocolates, cakes, and ice cream treats, they have a menu of savory nibbly foods and entrees that I will try on future visits. They also have a full bar, and a menu of assorted speciality chocolate martinis. Imagine a chocolate martini made with vodka and Dilettante's infamous Ephemere* sauce. A large, generously-poured martini. Why yes, I am still a bit tipsy from it.

*Ephemere sauce is a thick, rich chocolate sauce that is essentially chocolate truffle filling in semi-liquid form. It is absolutely delightful.
