- Went to the chiropractor, where he made my neck make horrible crunching noises. And lo! My headache went away! My wonderful chiropractor also showed me some exercises I need to start doing to strengthen my neck and shoulder muscles, so that maybe I won't get these headaches quite as often. Here's hoping.

- Altered my Beetlejuice fitted tee that arrived in the mail yesterday. It now has a scooped neckline with lace trim and B&W striped piping. Whee!

- Finished watching the DVD of Brazil that the StuntHusband loaned me. I had never seen it. Ever. Yes, I know, how the hell did I manage that? Let's just say there are some astonishing gaps in my my movie-watching habits, and leave it at that. Anyway, Brazil. Whoo. I wouldn't say fun, necessarily, but surreal and fascinating.

- Watched the DVD of the Frank Langella version of Dracula (which I had finally gotten around to ordering). I haven't seen it in ages, and had forgotten how swoony and pretty it is. Plus, Frank Langella keeps referring to it as a "gothic romance" in the bonus feature interview. Be still my bombast-craving heart!

- Decided my everyday top hat needed to be refurbished, so I rummaged around and found a length of wide antique black lace and a lot of black ostrich and coque feathers. I'll try to take a photo tomorrow.

- Redid my blood spatter manicure. Now with black smudges, inspired by snowcoma's version. Again, maybe pictures tomorrow.

Also tomorrow: writing, writing, writing. WRITING.
- So, is this headache a looming sinus migraine, or is something in my neck out of whack? It's at that awkward stage where I can't tell. As soon as I can convince Trinian Queen of Fuzzwumpia to stop sleeping on my feet, I will go take some Advil. Cat. On Feet )

- I tried a zombie ichor variation of the bloodspatter manicure using Orly's "Galaxy Girl", which is a blue/red/purple shimmer duochrome polish. I ... I think I'm underwhelmed. I may remove it tonight and go back to the traditional bloodspatter.

- I would like my award for being adult now, thanks. I called an agency and did stuff pertaining to dayjob. I fear that bout of productivity (along with the headache) has sapped my brain, because the idea of settling down and doing writing is making me feel a trifle woozy.

Okay, must remove the cat from my feet and take something for this headache. The coffee and food is obviously not going to fix it. Then I need to find my motivation ...
I apologize for the quality of the photos. It's hard to take pictures of your nails in mid-manicure! (Also, wow, the light in our living room is very yellow-tinged. Huh. EDIT: Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] kambriel for doing some fast color-correction work on the photos for me!)

Firstly, the photo that [livejournal.com profile] marc17 took of my nails on Saturday night!

How did I do that? Click the cut tag to find out!

I found the idea on Tumblr. )

I think this style of manicure would also look amazing done with dark green, blue, or a blue/purple duochrome color substituted for the blood red. Zombie ichor manicure! Oooh, I may have to try that next time.

So! Questions? Comments? If you try this, please post photos of your results in the comments!

  • I know people who are amazing cooks.

  • Sweetbreads are tasty. As are homemade pretzels.

  • Batter-dipped, deep-fried pickles or olives are addictive.

  • Jagermeister is merely the sweeter, less-aggressive form of Fernet. I like Fernet better.

  • If you appeal to my vanity, I am willing to hand out scary Jello shots.

  • People who really know better will have a Jello shot if I look expectantly at them while holding the tray of said Jello shots.

Also, my first attempt at the bloodspatter zombie manicure was a big hit:

(Yes, Stroppy One and Stax, I know I'm doing that weird thing with my chin again. Really, I'm trying to train myself not to do that.)

The rings on the other hand )

(My hand is resting on my "Rococo Violet" chocolate bar. Yes, chocolate and violet, from www.rococochocolates.com.)

For those of you who were exclaiming and wibbling over my garnet coffin ring, You should take a look at Coffin Gems.
Behind the cut-tag, two different Goth at the Office photos. One wherein I look a bit skeptical, the other where I look Very Disapproving, Indeed.

(Also behind the cut, a photo of my current ridiculous manicure, which involves black, pink glitter, and black faux nails that have a teeny-tiny skull and pink rhinestone on them. Did I mention ridiculous? Yes, very.)

Peeeeektures! )
