cupcake_goth: A lady always carries a handkerchief. (dainty cliche)

Hello, DW and LJ peoples! Please forgive me, 2 shots of Fernet and one vodka martini means I am rather tipsy.

So far, 43 is pretty awesome. Let us hope that it today sets the tone for the coming year, which means ... um ... low-stress, pretty things, yummy food, and zomg tipsy. Yeah, that works for a theme for the coming year.

(Peoples, I am SO TIPSY. I have not had this much alcohol for a very long time. Gracious.)
The Infamous BlueJay stopped by on Monday night to give me my birthday present early.

Vintage Fluevogs! The ones I'd been pining for!

I am very lucky. I have wonderful, wonderful friends. I also have pink & burgundy boots!
- Nine days until my birthday, whee! Not that I've made any sort of plans, because things have been busy, to say the least. But in nine days, I will be 42. Whoo, answer year!

- Eleven days until Steamcon! I'm on a bunch of panels and in two fashion shows, and I'll get to spend time with people I adore but don't get to see very often. So that will be fun. I should start figuring out my outfits, oh, now.

---

Sickly rundown: still exhausted, but with less feeling like I've been beaten with sticks, thank goodness. But I'm more congested. I do not like this trend. I would like to wake up tomorrow morning feeling perfectly healthy, thanks. Since I kinda doubt that is going to magically happen, more tea and decongestants are in my future.

My hope is that I have enough brain today to do proper writing, because I need to work on some GCS reviews and articles, and I really need to work on That Other Project. Oh, and I should call my parents today, yes. (Hi [livejournal.com profile] cupcakegothmom!)

---

::stares blankly at the laptop:: I'm sure there was something else I was supposed to be doing. I just can't think of it. Argh.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to everyone who came out last night and wished me a happy birthday! I had a wonderful time last night. (And am drinking my second pot of tea in an attempt to wake up.)

Because I am a scatterbrain, I didn't bring my camera. I know that [livejournal.com profile] tolkiencub and [livejournal.com profile] geekmachine took some photos, though.

Now, to wake up enough to do the final bits of work on the manuscript. Then dinner tonight with the parents, yay!

Thank you again, everyone. It was a lovely night.
Come out to Club V tomorrow night and help me celebrate my birthday! (I would especially love it if people dressed up, no surprise there.)

For those who've attended Club V before: I won't be at the "usual table". (yes, there is a usual table. shush.) When I'm not on the dance floor, I'll be in the back room. Please stop by and say hi!

(Also, the birthday festivities include a rare out-at-the-club appearance of [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage. Yes, for my birthday I get to go out with The Husband and The Stunt Husband!)

So! If you can come to Club V tomorrow night, I'd be delighted to see you.

Club V at Neighbors Underground
1509 Broadway "Front Door"
Doors open at 9PM
Saturday, November 15th at Club V: my birthday party! Come help me celebrate turning 40 (on Monday, but I'm having the party early)!

---

I've got other stuff I want to post about, but I need to run to my next meeting.
Why?

Because it is [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage's birthday today!

Happy birthday to my wonderful husband!! I hope the coming year is even better than *I* think it will be for you. I know it will be better than *you* think it will be. ::grin::

I love you!

Yes, it is my mom's birthday today. Happy birthday, mom! No, I didn't order snow for your birthday. I swear I didn't.

My birthday weekend was lovely, and thank you to everyone who wished me a happy one! 39 feels no different than 38. For that matter, 39 really feels no different than, say, 30 did. The weekend involved going out to dinner with my parents, and a fancy tea party. [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage, because he is a wonderful and indulgent spouse, surprised me with the mini tricorn from Topsy Turvy Design that I have been coveting for many many months. Let me tell you, that hat is a showpiece of quality construction. Absolutely beautiful, and I can't wait to wear it!

Jacket geebling! My H&M Cavalli jacket arrived this weekend, and my goodness, is it pretty. And it fits me! (I suspect this means that the Powers That Be behind this line went for a touch of vanity sizing, because I *know* I am not actually a size 10, but I'm not complaining.) Since the jacket does fit me through the bust & waist, all I need to do are the minor tweaks I have to perform on every jacket I ever own (adding back vents so it doesn't bunch awkwardly over my petticoats). For those of you who also coveted this jacket, check your local consignment stores in about four to six months, because I can't imagine that most of the people who bought this jacket will actually wear it.

SFDs! Behind the cut-tag, as always.

My "new" team is very nice. People keep stopping by to see how I'm doing, to see what progress I've made in decorating my office (the answer being Quite A Bit), and to see if I have any questions about the topics I'm working on. In other words, they're interested in helping me succeed, instead of the sink or swim school of training I usually experience. It's a nice change.
