Otherwise known as "Pink skulls are summery, really!"

Photos behind the cut! )

This is the sort of skirt design I am thinking of making if I get any of the Alexander Henry "Ghastlies" fabric.

Because I'm on a kick of looking for gothy "statement" necklaces, with skulls. Like ooooh, this Tarina Tarantino White Widow necklace. (clicky-link!)

Or this Betsey Johnson "Vintage Vicky" necklace. (yes, clicky-link!)

Or even this sort of necklace, made from all sorts of bits of vintage jewelry. (yet another clicky-link!)

(Okay, that one isn't the right colors for me, but I like the idea of it.)

One the one hand, I could make a necklace like that pretty easily. (Hoo boy, could I. My stash of vintage jewelry bits is kind of astonishing.) But would I ever wear it? Would it just look like a mess with my style? These are the things I'm not sure of.

This post brought to you by looking for distractions of shiny things, obviously. ::grin::
Dear Powers That Be, either one of these items would be a wonderful present for me. In case you were wondering.

Bat skull and feathers fascinator headband.

Gilded parakeet skull birdcage necklace.

(Yes, those are both clicky-links.)

I really REALLY want the bat skull & feathers headband. Hmmm, I wonder how that would work with my planned outfit for the Vampire Ball ... [livejournal.com profile] mineke, [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage, what do you two think? (I want opinions about that from the rest of you, too, but Katie and the Stroppy One are the two who know what my outfit looks like.)

(What's that, you say? Tell you what is involved in my Vampire Ball outfit? Why, a full ruffled skirt in b&w stripes, and a black polonaise with an attached pink satin waistcoat, trimmed with black velvet and pink satin buttons.)

::goes back to staring at the bat skull fascinator::
I am looking for an antique-looking skull and crossbones surrounded by Victorian-esque scrollwork, leaves, and flowers. I want to print the image onto iron-on transfer paper so I can create an appliqué to apply to a skirt.

EDITED TO ADD: What I really need is a good graphic of the sort of skull I want, and a separate graphic of scrollwork/leaves/flowers. I need reasonably high-res versions of these separate elements, because the Stroppy One would be able to collage them together for me via the magic of Photoshop.

Examples and clicky-links to the sorts of images I'm looking for:

The Bone Collector (I've sent a message to this Etsy seller asking her if it would be okay if I purchased one of these prints, scanned it, and made a iron-on transfer of it for my own use. I haven't yet heard back from her.)

Piratemod's Victorian Flourish.

Piratemod's Pirate King.

Strangemonster's Decadence of Love.

So! Suggestions? Clicky-links? Proclaimations of "Oh, that's easy! Here, look at this thing I made!"?

Yesterday's recipe on the Cupcake-A-Day calendar was for balsamic vinegar & strawberry cupcakes. I think I need to bat my eyes at [livejournal.com profile] domestinatrix to see if I can sweet-talk her into making a batch.
