- I got home from PDX on Sunday night. I had a lovely time (as always, because [livejournal.com profile] cass404 is awesome like that), but it's also Very Nice to be home with the Stroppy One and our cats.

- Today's to-do list: dayjob, laundry, clear & organize the library table, set up a dye bath, overdye the new hair extensions, and get some writing done tonight. Of course, this all hinges on me having enough energy. Stupid collection of health issues.

(Oh wait, two other things on the to-do list: email my doctor with my weekly status, and read through the very helpful links about Lyme disease that [livejournal.com profile] femmenerd gave me!)

- So, the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW! BARBOSSA! MERMAIDS! BLACKBEARD! Look, I know that many people (and reviewers) had problems with the movie. Thought the plot was thin-to-nonexistent, felt the actors were phoning it in, blah blah blah, whatever. I spent the entire movie in a state of flaily-handed glee. It was a very fun romp, the mermaids were some of the best I've ever seen in movies (actually scary, wheee!), and I need more pirate-styled jackets and fancy tricorns NOW. Also, On Stranger Tides had one of the BEST cameos I've ever been surprised by. I made squeaky noises out loud at it.

- Finally, but most importantly: congratulations to my pseudo-sibling [livejournal.com profile] caliban1227 and Larisa, his lovely fiancee! I'm very happy for the two of you!
Here, have a bunch of scattered bullet points!

- Last night's Sepiachord show featuring Unwoman, Nathanial Johnstone, and Harlan from Toy Box Trio was brilliant. And yes, is part of the reason I am coveting a theramin. (To be honest, I've idly wanted a theramin for YEARS. But now I really really want one.)

- In celebration of it being work at home Friday, I am wearing ... my new black & pink PJ pants with a Pirates of the Caribbean print. A print of pink pirate skulls, cursed Aztec gold, and compass roses. I love them. No, you don't get a photo.

- Looking at photos of various deathrockers thanks to my Tumblr stream has not only made me nostalgic for Big Hair, but has also given me a (very mild!) craving for a deathhawk. (There is no need to stage an intervention, Stroppy One. I am not shaving the sides of my head. I promise.)

- So far I've had a pot of chai (Nutty Guru from the wonderful Sip-T company (clicky-link!)) and a double Americano. I still want more caffeine. Should I wait until the Stroppy One brews coffee later on, or should I have more tea?

Writing. I should be doing writing.

Oooh, but Polyvore is a lovely distraction. See?

Of course, that stack of Gothic & Lolita bibles right there next to me is also calling to me.

Or I could finally decide to try reading book one of Vampirates. Because really, when else am I going to feel loopy and silly enough to read a book called Vampirates?

(I swear that if I do succumb to the lure of Vampirates, I will post a full review. Consider that a promise or a threat, whichever makes you feel better.)

Aaaand I still want a cupcake. ::sighs forlornly, back of hand limply pressed to forehead::
I think I just found the mini tricorn of my Cupcake Gothic pirate-y dreams!

Of course, it's TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS, so there's no way on earth I'm ever getting it. But good heavens, it's darling. Stripy! Pink! Adorned with a miniature pirate ship!

(Listen; do you hear that sound? That is the sound of [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage rolling his eyes, sighing, and possibly muttering "Walk away from the computer, Jilli".)

::gazes longingly at the hat some more, then returns to editing work::

::sighs some more::
At least for a little bit. Why? Because it's Pirate Night at the Merc. It's a non-smoking Pirate Night, and [livejournal.com profile] djeternaldarkne is the DJ. Of *course* I'm going. Mind you, I'm planning on getting there early and only staying for about two hours, because I'm tiiiiiiiired, but do you honestly think I'd miss a chance to dress up in my gothy pirate finery? Of course not!
