I can't figure out if I really really like this, or if it's just the sleep deprivation amping up my "oooh, shiny!" magpie tendencies.

White and pink sugar skull fascinator. (Clicky-link!)

On the one hand: Oooh, skulls and pink and white and it goes on my head!

On the other hand: Wow, that's kind of ... busy, design-wise.

too busy, and not candy enough ---if they'd actually used a sugar skull (shiny or glittery white, as though made from sugar) instead of a standard issue toy skull with heavy black lines, it would be awesome. great idea, poor execution.

"Great idea, poor execution."

COMPLETELY agree. I thought for a second that my offbeat bride readers might like these, but there's a little too much going on. I feel like the only way these would work is if everything else you were wearing was completely plain. Even then ... that's LOT going on on your head.

I think it was also a mistake to put it on a distractingly made up and blonde Barbie-head mannequin . . . a dark-haired, traditionally made up model would have allowed the item to take the focus and pop its colors.

It's a nice idea but I agree that it's kind of busy. It seems a bit too busy for you though you could probably alter it a bit...

Carlee or I could make on 1000 times better. I think it looks cheep. By the way did you get my email responce. We should pick a date for coat transfer.

No. Not you. Not pink enough, and actually not sugary enough--the skull should be more obvious, both in size/placement and in design.

IOW, what everybody else already said. ;)

Hey, let's play "make a thing" - and you could make one of these much better from stuff in the craft parlor.

In fact, I should look at the calendar & send invites...

Yes, let's play "make a thing"! I love that game!

(Late March is bad, fyi.)

i think everything could be scaled down a bit, then it would be really pretty.

From: [identity profile] maudelynn.livejournal.com

oh, wait... it is scaled down and on a barbie head. sigh. my bad... it is very cute :)

Just butting in to say thanks for posting this link. I realize it would look much better on you than on a doll but...I am going to make my own version of a doll of this. I make creepy/pretty dolls and this is wonderful inspiration.

From: [identity profile] morseren.livejournal.com

Not sure but this appears to be on one of those Barbie makeover heads that are not as large as a human head of course but much larger than most doll heads...at least it looks like that is what she has them modeled on.

Personally, it's too much. It's trying too hard to be the corpse bride or something.

From: [identity profile] domestinatrix.livejournal.com

You don't want that. The flowers on it are cheap and nasty.

From: [identity profile] lylassandra.livejournal.com

Umm... it would be awesome if that were actually a sugar skull.

I agree that you may need one, but you need an actual (non-edible) sugar skull with pretty pretty designs on it.

I think you've lost your mind, but that may be just me.

Kind of busy?

That atrocity looks like Damien Hirst raping RuPaul with an unlubricated My Little Pony under the kid's table at an ill-advised Day of the Dead-themed wedding reception, as Vanna White performs the Heimlich maneuver on Ivana Trump, who, startled by the excitement, has choked on her pink champagne.

So no. Just no.

Indeed. Well said.

Jilli, your internet privileges have been revoked. Step away from your computer now while it self-destructs.

It's not like I was going to purchase it! I was just trying to figure out what about it appealed to me. No blowing up the computer.

Sometimes, I'm totally perplexed.

USUALLY, I'm co-conspirator in making Peev's head kerplode.

It is cheap looking. There is, however, one terribly fatal flaw in it, as far as you wearing it goes - it is mostly white, and not mostly black.

Yes, the skull is tacky instead of nifty. Yes, the design appears to be overly busy. absolutely, this can be made better.

But mostly, it needs to be far more black.

Speaking of clicky-links dear, I just got this email and when I saw the boots, I immediately thought of you.

No. Just no. This could be made so much better if they had used a glittery skull or one without so much business on it. The paint job just plain sucks.

And it needs more pink, maybe with just a touch of black so it stands out better.

My sense of humor is telling me I NEED this if I get the job I've got an interview for. That whole death and taxes thing just makes me giggle.
