• I know people who are amazing cooks.

  • Sweetbreads are tasty. As are homemade pretzels.

  • Batter-dipped, deep-fried pickles or olives are addictive.

  • Jagermeister is merely the sweeter, less-aggressive form of Fernet. I like Fernet better.

  • If you appeal to my vanity, I am willing to hand out scary Jello shots.

  • People who really know better will have a Jello shot if I look expectantly at them while holding the tray of said Jello shots.

Also, my first attempt at the bloodspatter zombie manicure was a big hit:

The nails look fantastic.

I wish I knew where I could purchase deep fried olives.

Oh, absolutely. I didn't even know deep-fried olives *existed* until I read this post, but now I want some.

those nails look amazing! I would love to be able to do that!

Ooooo! Pretty pretty rings!

So THAT'S the look that got people to do Jello shots . . . Hee!

How could anyone possibly resist Spooky Mary Poppins holding out a tray of Jello shots?

Re: Can't Resist

I don't think I did, however, there was too much Goldschlager. The cinnamon, it burns. (The jello shots were layered Goldschlager, Jaegermaester, and Baerenjaeger.)

Re: Can't Resist

Okay, I'd have resisted easily after the first bite, because while I love Goldschlager and Barenjager and have a high tolerance for burniness, Jaegermeister is too vilely cough-syrupy for my taste.

My friends make pina colada jello shots -- sweet and lethal!

Ohhhh... very nice! I definitely want to do that for Halloween.

Just checking. :)

I have usually found them rather bland, but admittedly I mostly had them in school. How did you have them prepared?

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

They were breaded and pan-fried. And they had some sort of amazing mushroom gravy on the side.

From: [identity profile] recalcitrant-lj.livejournal.com

Shniztled, if that is a word, and the gravy was a mushroom doppelbock gravy, and I would like to have it with everything I eat from now on, please.

I find it most amazing how many German words made it into the English language. :D
Anyways, I had to look up what sweetbreads actually are, and they turned out something not very bread-like at all. How very interesting.

Deep fried pickles are absolutely delicious. Especially when dipped in either hot mustard or sweet chilli sauce. I also put some parmesan cheese in the batter, might try crushed bacon next time.

I second this request! (makes large eyes, flaps eyelashes, whimpers slightly)

I'm consoling myself with the thought that there was probably almost nothing I could have eaten.

Please don't tell me otherwise. ;)

I am in so much envy, mainly because I paint my nails at about the level of a six year old (though I'm getting better!) and yours look fantastic. The Jello shots sound interesting, but unfortunately I don't drink!

Speaking of blood-spatter and zombies, ArtsWest (repertory theater up at the Alaska Junction) is going to be putting on 'Evil Dead: The Musical' from Oct. 20 to Nov. 13, and even if it's not your cup of blood pomegranate tea, I bet you know people who'd like to come, so the invitation from me can be considered officially extended.

All though they can be tasty, the words Sweet breads have been a little weird and uncomfortable for me since I read Happy Hour of the Damned and Road trip of the Living dead, both by Mark Henry.

I'm sorry to be a nuisance, but could you please tell me where you got the bone ring (the one on your pinky) I've been looking for one like that forever and can't find one! Thank you!

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Oh, no problem! I just don't know if my information will be particularly helpful to you. The bone ring came from a jeweler in London by the name of Crazy Pig. I purchased it about 10 years ago, and I have no idea if he makes that style of ring any more.
