Wheee, the video for MCR's "Na Na Na" premiered! http://www.mychemicalromance.com/splash/

Oh BOYS. That was fun. Silly, ridiculous, and fun. I can't wait to read the related comic book.

(Yes, there is going to be a related comic book. Hello, do you know anything at all about Gerard Way?)

Grant Morrison as the bald, menacing bad guy! Frankie helping the little girl fire a rocket launcher! The ridiculous secret identity names the boys have! (Gerard is "Party Poison", Mikey is Kobra Kid? Okay.)

I need my own copy of this video, right now. WHY IS IT NOT AVAILABLE FOR INSTANT PURCHASE, ITUNES? YOU THWART ME.

(Yes yes, I am supposed to be writing this very instant. A new MCR video means I take a break and indulge in fangirl flailing.)

Wheeee!
I am working from home today, nursing a very upset stomach. After working from home yesterday so I could take care of some assorted errands. But considering I slept two hours past the alarm, and am feeling washed-out and queasy, going to the office was not an option. So today involves editing a whitepaper, answering emails, and maybe having some Hammer Horror Dracula movies playing in the background.

Yeah, I feel pretty wretched, actually. Please send distractions, preferably in the form of proper vampires, pretty boys in eyeliner, or clicky-links to stripy blazers.

I cannot brain today. I'm not tired (thank goodness), but am extremely fuzzy-brained and lacking in attention span. Ah, the hormonal joys of being female.

But! I have a chocolate cupcake sitting on my desk (thanks to a going-away party for one of my co-workers), and the mail today will bring me [livejournal.com profile] gailcarriger's new book Changeless, the big art book for Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland, AND the blu-ray of Sherlock Holmes. So there will be plenty of distracting things for me when I get home.*

Tonight, I must update the GCS Events page with info about my Norwescon schedule, the details for the celadon CD release party, and the reading at the Night Kitchen. I also need to work on the CD reviews for Toy-Box Trio and Faith and the Muse. Can I manage to do those things while watching Sherlock Holmes? Who knows. But I'm certainly going to try.

*Between Sherlock Holmes and Changeless, I am going to want to add EVEN MORE bustles, boots, and parasols to my wardrobe. I just know it.

What is it about today? I woke up feeling fairly well-rested and in a good mood, but now the demons of insecurity are slithering around. Mostly related to my submitting my resume for the full-time position that just opened up on the team that I am currently contracting for; I have the worry that submitting my resume through the external career site doesn't actually DO anything, and that my application will vanish away into some digital basement, never to be seen again.

Add to that the fact that I'm (still!) waiting on replies to some other things, and it all equals one easily-distracted and fretful gothy cupcake. Augh!

Writing. I should be doing writing.

Oooh, but Polyvore is a lovely distraction. See?

Of course, that stack of Gothic & Lolita bibles right there next to me is also calling to me.

Or I could finally decide to try reading book one of Vampirates. Because really, when else am I going to feel loopy and silly enough to read a book called Vampirates?

(I swear that if I do succumb to the lure of Vampirates, I will post a full review. Consider that a promise or a threat, whichever makes you feel better.)

Aaaand I still want a cupcake. ::sighs forlornly, back of hand limply pressed to forehead::

EDITED TO ADD: I wish I was better at creating sets on Polyvore. I just don't have the knack for it. Plus it makes me want to window-shop, which is dangerous.

The wonderful folks over at Redemption Klothing put up the sketches for the Lip Service Spring 2010 lines. (Yes yes, clicky-link!) Oooh, look at all the gothy-goth and Victorian-esque goodies! The Blacklist high-collar top and long-sleeved jacket, the Lolita Candy layered skirt, the Step In Time Like Clockwork underbust corset and button front jacket; all of those things make me squeak (weakly, right now) at the monitor. (All of those were clicky-links, but I'm sure you figured that out.)

Another nice distraction was my Mom calling to check on me, and then telling me about what Halloween merchandise she's seen out on the sales floor of the Fred Meyer she works at. She promised to keep an eye out for the (sure to be coming) stock of b&w stripy tights. (What, how else did you think I stocked up on them? I have connections.)

I am feeling just well enough to become easily restless and fidgety. This is bad, because as soon as I try to do something, my energy reserves run out. Maybe I should follow [livejournal.com profile] maiaarts lead and spend some time playing around on Polyvore? Would that keep me from becoming fidgety?

Hey! The H.P. Lovecraft Short Film Festival is this weekend! I won't be attending because I have other stuff filling up my schedule, but I wanted to help promote it. Take a look at this post for more info (Clicky-link!)

---

Speaking of promotion, on May 23 you really want to attend the Clang/Bang Cabaret Sepiachord event. (Clicky-link!) And guess what? Gothic Charm School is one of the co-hosts. Get dressed up and come on out!

---

In other news, I'm waiting on answers to some emails and it's driving me MAAAAAAAAD. Help me, I need pleasant distractions.
I am feeling tired and mumph-ish. Please give me distractions of eye candy or clicky-links of shiny things of a window-shopping nature?
1. Take a picture of yourself right now.
2. Don't change your clothes, don't fix your hair...just take a picture.
3. Post that picture with NO editing.
4. Post these instructions with your picture.

Camera phone Camera phone

Huh. Not a completely dreadful photo, I suppose. Yes, taken with the camera phone.
... that it's a good thing I don't drive. Because with the sort of day I'm having, if I DID drive, I would be very very tempted to flee the office and distract myself by going to see Sweeney Todd again. But since I don't drive, I cannot give in to this impulse, and will instead stay at my desk and read content specs.
