What is it about today? I woke up feeling fairly well-rested and in a good mood, but now the demons of insecurity are slithering around. Mostly related to my submitting my resume for the full-time position that just opened up on the team that I am currently contracting for; I have the worry that submitting my resume through the external career site doesn't actually DO anything, and that my application will vanish away into some digital basement, never to be seen again.
Add to that the fact that I'm (still!) waiting on replies to some other things, and it all equals one easily-distracted and fretful gothy cupcake. Augh!

Godwin would be proud
1) I AM Jewish. I have relatives who survived the camps. And more importantly, relatives who didn't.
2) I have a rather dark sense of humor (a Goth prerequisite) and a keen sense of irony. These were combined with the Lady of the Manners fashion sense and my own knowledge of obscure bits of uniformology* to make my comment.
3) My sense of humor and irony can also think of no better way to denigrate the Nazis than to repurpose their uniforms. Please note I said "modify" to me that implied removing explicitly Nazi symbology like swastikas and death's heads. Perhaps I should have been more explicit.
Therefore please allow me to offer a wholehearted and unreserved apology to you, the Lady of the Manners and anyone else who was offended. I truly did not mean to open this particular can of worms and I am sorry.
This is the last I am publically going to say on the issue. If anyone wants to continue discussing it with me, please send me a private message.
*Incidentally the black & pink color scheme was used only by the tank soldiers of the Wehrmacht</> (the German regular army) and not the SS. Despite Hollywood portrayals most SS were in fact uniformed in regular field grey. The Waffen-SS armor used a black & white color scheme.

Good luck with your application :) I hate applying by mail or online. Actually, I prefer to go and see the HR manager in person. It's hard but it works - well, it's worked for me so far.
