Apparently a lot of you folks say I should sell that particular stripey blazer. Heh. Some of you suggested taking fabric markers and coloring in between alternating black stripes, thus creating wide black stripes. I do like that idea. However, the Stroppy One suggested I do that with my pink fabric markers, which would give me a pink and white striped jacket with black details. I will wear the blazer in its current incarnation when we go run errands tomorrow, and ponder this idea. But feel free to tell the Stroppy One he's brilliant!

([livejournal.com profile] staxxy, no sequins. No. That feels too ... costume-y, for me.)
I am flopped on the couch, taking a break and waiting to feel less woozy. This is the conversation that went on inside my head:

MAGPIE PART OF THE BRAIN: OOooh! We should do our usual obsessive searching on eBay and eBay.UK for stripy blazers!

PRACTICAL PART OF THE BRAIN: Really? But we have ::stops to count:: three black & white ones. And three black & pink ones. Surely that's plenty?

MAGPIE PART OF THE BRAIN: OMG THAT IS CRAZYTALK ALL THE STRIPY BLAZERS MUST BELONG TO US.

Honestly, I don't know what it is. But at least once a week, I search for more stripy blazers. Ridiculous, I know.
I no longer have the urge to drill a hole in my skull to release the pressure of the migraine, which is a VAST improvement over yesterday. Also, the mutterings of the low self-esteem monsters have (mostly) dwindled away, thank goodness. So thank you to everyone who gave me kind words and clicky-links of distraction yesterday!

Hey, let's talk about ridiculous furniture coveting! Look at this antique couch on Etsy! (clicky-link!)

I covet that like MAD. [livejournal.com profile] kambriel said she would want to lounge around on it while wearing a deep red velvet dress. I said I wanted to lounge around on it wearing a black velvet military-styled jacket and bustle skirt, with pink details.

And while I'm on the topic of ridiculous coveting: I posted a photo of my dream boots on my Tumblr stream today. Boots that I probably couldn't walk in, are discontinued, and impossible to find. But MY GOODNESS, they're pretty.

Yes, I would wear them with the aforementioned black velvet military-styled jacket and bustle skirt with pink details, while sitting on the fabulous black-and-white striped couch. With a glass of absinthe. What? A girl can dream, can't she?
I found more shoes to sell off (including some new-in-box duplicates of certain pairs I love, but realized I don't need spares of), plus jackets and hats. I just need to find time to take pictures.

Also, why obsessive keyword searching eBay is useful:

What you can't make out in that photo is that the black stripes are edged with narrow pink stripes. Yes, the blazer came that way. It's by some British designer named Ben Sherman. I've never heard of him before, but look! He made me a blazer. How very helpful of him!

Tonight, doing some minor fit alterations to the new stripy blazer, and watching more of S2 Dexter. Have I mentioned I really really hate Lila? She's the perfect example of a certain sort of Psycho Chick I've run into in my past. Really, really hate. I have high hopes for her dying. (DO NOT TELL ME. I WILL FIND OUT, WE ARE ALMOST DONE WATCHING THIS SEASON ON DVD.)

Snow day! Snow day!
Taken in my back yard, 12/18/2008

We bundled up and took a walk to go get coffee and have lunch at Gordito's. Yes, this is what I wear in the snow. Wool tights, heavy cotton stockings, thick socks, and skully wellington boots kept my legs and feet warm. Also, I discovered that petticoats and bloomers are not only good insulation, but useful padding when one slips and lands on one's bum.
This week has been ... eh. Not great. And the next few weeks are going to involve me being patient, which is not something I'm at all good at. (If you listen closely, you can hear [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage and [livejournal.com profile] caliban1227 laughing at that understatement.) So! Today I dressed to amuse myself even more than I normally do. Yes, today is when I give thanks for the software industry's lack of a dress code.

SFDs! Black and pink, of course. )

In other Shallow Fashion News, Shoutfit is still down. There's a part of me that wonders if it's down deliberately. The assorted things I've found online about the start of Shoutfit suggest that the people behind it were hoping to be absorbed/purchased by one of the big fashion media publishers; the Shoutfit userbase becoming increasingly weighted with Goths, Steampunks, and other fans of non-mainstream and DIY looks probably worried them. But it's only a small part of me that is dabbling with that conspiracy theory; there's no need to line hats with tinfoil yet.
(Yes, I'm window shopping.)

So, I've been kinda-sorta coveting the Clockwork Cabaret jacket (Clicky link! WARNING, the model is wearing the jacket, stockings, and pink panties, so possibly NSFW) from Danger Dame for over a year now. More details, same warnings about the photos.

It's very cute. Not to mention black with pink details, and stretchy! But I'm still waffling about it. Thus, I turn to the invisible people in the glowy box on my desk for more opinions!

Oh, and another fashion-y question: cute Victorian-esque waist length jackets. Give me links, please. Yes, I need more of them. Really.
