Today is my Dad's birthday! Everyone say Happy Birthday, Dad!
Today is also my parents' wedding anniversary. I miss you, Mom.

It's been a month since Mom passed. Thank you to everyone who has sent cards, emails, flowers, texts, and thoughts to us. (I keep looking at the thank-you notes I need to write, shuddering, and doing something else. I swear I will tackle them this week.)
There will be a remembrance party for her next month, and I will let people know the details as soon as we have them settled.

Today: not great. I was blindsided by a wave of missing Mom last night, right when we were settling down to go to sleep. I hate crying in general, but especially when I'm trying to go to sleep. So I have that post-crying hangover feeling today.
Also, I'm just tired and achy. Which is another reason for the ugh. Thank goodness I am working from home today, with tea and cats and comfort movies.

While I am not usually a PatD fan (I think they're okay, but they don't make me go all flailyhands), there is something about this video that makes me grin. So adorable!) (Which tangentially reminds me: jaborwhalky, tell me the gossip!)

Which I wanted when it was originally released, but couldn't quite convince myself to buy it. (The fandom had not fully claimed me at that point.) I figure none of you are quite as crazy as I am, and thus will not bid on it.

I remembered last night that I have two different lapel pin vases. So for a little while, I'm going to be wearing a flower from the assorted arrangements that people have been sending in Mom's memory.
In the next few days, I need to go pick up a bunch of silica gel, so I can also preserve the flowers.
(I also need to, oh, dye my hair and have the Stroppy One trim my bangs, but that will probably take me a bit longer to get to.)

My Dad and I are ... well, we're coping as best we can. Which means we're getting on with doing what needs to be done, and occasionally staring off into space or getting teary-eyed. I am trying to settle back into the routine of my usual life (dayjob, writing, and so on), because that's going to be what helps me the most right now. But I apologize in advance for being more scattered than usual.

She’s still in ICU, and will be for a while. Dad visits her every day, I go visit every other day or so. I DO believe she will recover, it’s just going to take a lot of time. My family appreciates the wishes and prayers you’ve all been sending. Thank you very much.

Her doctor put her back on the ventilator, she's still sedated, and she's still in ICU. BUT, her color has improved, and the swelling has gone down.

She’s still stable, but not really lucid. I saw her today, held her hand, and told her that everyone was sending her their prayers and good wishes.
