Her doctor put her back on the ventilator, she's still sedated, and she's still in ICU. BUT, her color has improved, and the swelling has gone down.
The very short form: 20 some years ago, my Mom had leukemia (and has been in remission since I was about 11). Due to chemotherapy and transfusions, she has Hepatitis C - no big deal, she wasn't contagious, it was just one of those things. Until it finally caused cirrhosis of the liver.
The main thing right now is to get her system stable and her breathing on her own. Once that happens, then treatment for the liver issue can be figured out.
Dad says thank you to all of you for the well-wishes and prayers, and promises that if he needs anything, he will let me know immediately. The same goes for me to all of you.
Stroppy One has been a Very Good Husband through all of this, and been taking care of me. I don't know what I'd do without him.
((A tangent: I don't think I want to use my "hiding" icon for the ongoing Mom posts, but I don't think the "leeches" icon is exactly appropriate. Hilarious, but maybe not appropriate. Time to look at all my icons again.))

When my liver failed there was talk of liver dialysis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liver_dialysis). At the time the closest hospital doing it was in Chicago. I don't know how far it's come in the past six years. Just something you might want to ask about.
