- Thing One: I have found someplace that sells straw versions of my usual black wool top hat. I am thinking of getting one, covering it with black lace, and then I would finally have a summer version of my hat.

- Thing Two: We never managed to see Sucker Punch in the theatre, but thanks to a video that scrolled by on Tumblr, I spent part of today browsing YouTube so I could listen to the soundtrack. Which I then bought. A remix of Bjork's "Army of Me" with Skunk Anansi! The cover of "Sweet Dreams Are Made of This"! The cover of "Asleep"! This thing is full of bombastic/crazy girl fun.

- Thing Three: A sign of how stressful and scattered this year has been: I had no idea that book 8 of the Vampire Kisses series had been released! My favorite sugary dark reading indulgence! ::flailyhands::

- Thing Four: A picture Libby (from Exoskeleton Cabaret, you know, Libby Bulloff) took of me during yesterday's trip to the zoo.

- Thing Five: There have been some great non-supernatural Gothic fiction suggestions arriving in the GCS mailbox. Someone made the very good point that all of Anne Rice's recent books are about, well, Jesus. I'm betting her (overwrought, bombastic, but cracktastic fun) writing style hasn't changed that much, even if she isn't writing about vampires anymore. However, I will admit that the suggestion of Flowers In the Attic made me raise my eyebrows. Sure, there's no hint of supernatural in it, and it IS a modern take on classic Gothic novel tropes, but ... yeah. I don't know if I'd feel comfortable recommending it.

(I occasionally pick up copies of it at thrift stores, flip through them in a state of mesmerized horror, and then decide that I don't need to take the revisiting the trashy reading habits of my youth THAT far.)

I remembered last night that I have two different lapel pin vases. So for a little while, I'm going to be wearing a flower from the assorted arrangements that people have been sending in Mom's memory.

In the next few days, I need to go pick up a bunch of silica gel, so I can also preserve the flowers.

(I also need to, oh, dye my hair and have the Stroppy One trim my bangs, but that will probably take me a bit longer to get to.)

Behind the cut, vertical striped stockings layered with shredded black stockings, and Fluevog Babycakes. )

Oooh, clicky-link of coveting: Lovechild Boudoir has their own site now, and my goodness do I want this jacket. (clicky-link!) Yes, I probably could customize myself something similar, but I like Lovechild Boudoir's work. (I have two bustle-y overskirts from them.) There's something about the combination of the pinstriped fabric and the extravagant ruffles that grabs me. But at $110 + shipping, it goes on the coveting list AFTER Fluevogs.

So far, people's comments about this outfit have been either about the Mad Hatter, or steampunk. (I am very amused that steampunk is more recognizable to the average tech worker than Goth.)

Behind the cut, a photo of my stripy tights and Babycake boots. )

And behind this cut, a to-do list for me so I can remember to do this stuff over the next few evenings. )

[livejournal.com profile] bloodengel and [livejournal.com profile] marc17 have posted their photos from the Mad Tea Party photo shoot! Go look at their LJs!

I really, REALLY need an LJ icon of this picture. Yes, I do.

So, do I want to put up with lots of smoke and crowds to attend the Malice In Wonderland event at the Merc on Saturday night? I kinda think I do.

(Wow, the Body Image Demons are making all sorts of comments in my hindbrain about my posting a photo of me in lounging-around-the-house clothes. I am trying to ignore them, yes.) Photo taken by [livejournal.com profile] staxxy, who is visiting and borrowing a cup of Internet. Yay! Now, back to housework and writing.

The rest of today's outfit:

(Where the heck did that little curly flip of hair come from? My hair is nowhere near curly enough to do that, and especially not when I've got it pulled back in pigtails. Odd.)

When I speak longingly of wanting to go to a picnic, yes, I DO envision something like this. (Clicky-link of gorgeousness and decadence!)

::sighs longingly, swoons just a bit::
This one being about kitties! Follow the clicky-links below.

Kitties of flumpitude.

More flumpiness.

But we want to go out! Why won't you let us?

Shoes are comfy!

Later on there will be another post with pictures of a very charming monster that now keeps me company at work. You Have Been Warned.
