Tumblr user spitegoblin asked: I’m curious– What style of clothing would y'all wear if public ridicule, financial limitations, and general inconvenience weren’t a thing?

My answer: Exquisitely tailored frock coats in silk and velvet and lightweight wool, gossamer silk ruffled blouses, and huge, full skirts with layers of lace, ruffles, and beadwork, or that are layers of scraps and tatters of jaw-droppingly beautiful fabrics.

So, pretty much how I dress now, but with perfect tailoring and insanely luxurious fabrics. I would keep [livejournal.com profile] kambriel in queenly luxury while she made beautiful things for me.

What about you folks? Tell me your fashion dreams!

What? I think it's a great plan!

In other news, OH G-D OH G-D STABBING MIGRAINE OF DOOM. Which I'm just trying to power through, because I've got Stuff To Do. Dammit.
January: Dear Cupcake Goth, Writing. You are supposed to be writing.

February: Dear hiring manager for that full-time tech editor job at the Big Software Company that I applied for IN NOVEMBER;

March: The weekend was very fun, what with the clothing sale, the trip to the zoo, dressing up as the Mad Hatter (and turning [livejournal.com profile] kiltlad into the White Rabbit), and then a birthday party for one of my favorite little girls.

April: What I DO care about is that today is the birthday of one of my oldest friends!

May: What happens when there are dueling iPhones:

June: Also known as this is what happens when you look at lots of deathrock fashion photos.

July: The Finishing School of Flail, [livejournal.com profile] maiaarts, [livejournal.com profile] staxxy, and the Stroppy One = wonderful people who provide sanity checks and beta reading, yay! I love them very much.

August: I am upstairs in my (organized!) storage room, writing descriptions and taking photos for the next closet culling sale.

September: I'm certainly not going to be cross-posting anyone's comments to FB or Twitter. Please do me the same courtesy.

October: Looking at the various photos of the Monster High dolls over on [livejournal.com profile] daily_doll makes me want to spend a day playing with Lucretia Evangeline.

November: Me sitting in front of [livejournal.com profile] pix_kristin and [livejournal.com profile] noisedesign's house, waiting for trick-or-treaters.

December: Reading through [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre's line edits on fiction project is a perfect thing to do with a sinus migraine, right?
Pie pie pi pi pi pie!

Today is Pi(e) Day! Blog about pi or pie!

Well all righty then! First things first: I am Not A Math Person. No, seriously. My lack of understanding for math and math-related things is near-legendary among my friends. (I once passed an algebra class by adhering to the theory that when in doubt, X = 8.)

But, Pi! It's an irrational number, how cool is that? Okay, yes, I immediately think of the definition of "irrational" as in how it is frequently applied to me, instead of the mathematical definition, but still! Nifty, and think I'm going to spend a bit of my afternoon reading up more about Pi.

As for pie, the yummy baked treat: why yes, I am in favor of it. I really should bake more pies, because strangely enough, I'm really good at making pie crust. [livejournal.com profile] domestinatrix thinks it's because I don't work the crust too much; my enthusiasm and attention span for baking lasts just long enough so that I don't fiddle too much with it.

A last note to leave you with: one of my dad's favorite jokes in my childhood involved the time-honored punchline of "No, Pi are round; cornbread are square".

Seen all over my FL:

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything [within reason] : latest movie watched, last book read, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal if you are so inclined.

I will put one caveat on this: I won't discuss politics, sorry. Oh, and one other caveat: I will TRY to answer things, but it may take a bit.

Shallow Fashion Details! I am MUCH HAPPIER with today's outfit than yesterday's. Everything fits properly, for one. And stripes! Stripes are always good. Details behind the handy-dandy cut tag, for ease of scrolling past by the disinterested.

1. How are you stereotypically female?

I like all the trappings of girly-ness: frilly skirts, makeup, perfume, shoes, hats, lace, complicated and frivolous underthings, arcane skin-care rituals, the whole be-ribboned package. I also express my emotions freely, and have a tendency to try and take care of others. Oh, and the bad female stereotypes: I'm horrible at maths, and I must admit that logic is not usually the dominant thing in my decision-making process.

2. How are you stereotypically male?

I speak my mind without worrying about any sort of reprisal. I think setting things on fire and/or blowing them up is grand entertainment. I'm not easily freaked out by violence or gore. I don't seek the approval of others, unless it's somehow necessary for my job. (Don't get me wrong, I LIKE the approval of others, but I don't agonize about how to get people to Like Me.)

3. What parts of you do you consider unclassifiable as either gender?

Imagination, intellect, and observational skills. Drive. Passion.

4. Do you think you are primarily male, female, or neither in characteristics?
Oh, I 'm definitely primarily female. There is no doubt about that.

5. If you could be born as any gender, knowing the gender prejudices as they are now, which would you choose to be?

Female, even with the obstacles and gender prejudices that women face. If you're smart, you can work around those. (If you're smart, devious, and slightly unscrupulous, you can make those obstacles and gender prejudices work for you, and that's all I'm going to say about that.) Plus, as every other woman I know who has participated in this meme has pointed out, multiple orgasms.

Yeah, the movies meme. I was tagged by the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] pvcdiva.

Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to list 10 movies: your 5 Favorites & your 5 Guilty Pleasures. An explanation should be included. Then, pick 5 of your friends and tag them. No tag backs.

But first, a Disclaimer! My favorite movies are subject to change at a whim; I have no cut-and-dried Favorite Movies List. Honestly, my Guilty Pleasure movies are far more likely to remain constant. With that said ... )
Who to tag, who to tag? [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage, [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre, [livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson, [livejournal.com profile] paperdol, [livejournal.com profile] pix_kristin

Why? Oh, why not. Because I'm waiting for writers to hand off more content, and need a distraction.

But I'll put it behind a cut-tag, so people can scroll by with ease. )
