Yeah, the movies meme. I was tagged by the lovely and talented

Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to list 10 movies: your 5 Favorites & your 5 Guilty Pleasures. An explanation should be included. Then, pick 5 of your friends and tag them. No tag backs.
But first, a Disclaimer! My favorite movies are subject to change at a whim; I have no cut-and-dried Favorite Movies List. Honestly, my Guilty Pleasure movies are far more likely to remain constant.
Favorites:
Auntie Mame Rosalind Russel! Being Zany with a capital Zee! Auntie Mame is one of my role models (except for that whole becoming a widow part). "Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!" Really, what other motto do you need?
Moulin Rouge Look, I know it's derivative, okay? But it's gorgeous, and everyone bursts into song and dance numbers at emotional moments, and there are absinthe fairies and EVERYTHING is drenched in theatrical excess. I love it.
Fairy Tale: A True Story A sweet movie that is very loosely based on the story of the Cottingley fairy photographs. It's about belief and magic, and I still get a little happily weepy when I watch it.
Big Fish Again, a movie about belief and magic. Not to mention that the dad in the movie is a larger-than-life character who tells larger-than life stories, which is something that will always win me over, narratively-speaking. (To be completely honest, I hate hate hate the son for most of the movie. I think he's a jerk, and while I'm glad he's redeemed at the end, I still feel like hissing almost every time he's onscreen.) Big Fish is a movie I can only watch when I'm in a certain mood, because I cry through most of it. That doesn't change my love for it one bit.
Addams Family and Addams Family Values Yes, both being listed as one movie, because in my head they are. They're note-perfect. They're almost everything I aspire to be; happy, quirky, and with a strong sense of self. With a fabulous house.
Guilty Pleasures:
The Phantom of the Opera (Yes, the Joel Schumacher version.) Oh God, the fabulous excess and cheese! The unrestrained bombast! This movie makes me gleeful. It's not that I like the music, or that I think it's a particularly good movie. But goodness, it's fun to watch.
The Lost Boys Huh, another Joel Schumacher film. But but but, rebellious pretty-boy vampires! Plus, one of the best movie taglines in history: "Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire." I watched it something around 40 times in the theatre (thanks to it staying at the local two-dollar theatre for the entire summer), and it was one of the first DVDs I ever bought.
Zoolander A comedy skewering the fashion industry? With cameos and jokes you'd only get if you've read 5-10 years worth of Vogue? Awesome! Plus the judge for the walk-off!
Dracula The Coppola version. Oooh, so pretty! Yeah, it's not at all faithful to the novel, Keanu's attempt at a British accent makes me wince, and Anthony Hopkins is too over-the-top even for my tastes. But it's so gorgeous and lush, and has vampires. That pretty much sums up what I look for in guilty pleasure movies, doesn't it?
Interview With the Vampire Again, gorgeous, lush, and hey, vampires! Yes, I will put up with a lot of silliness for pretty costumes and vampires.

I also love Dracula because it's such glorious, ornate eye candy. But yeah with the not-actually-a-good-movie thing.
And The Lost Boys -- one of my favorite-ever movies, and not a guilty pleasure, either. Love it!

Me too! I share your guilty pleasures vampire movies love. I add to that the Dracula with Frank Langella from the late 70's - because it was the first Dracula movie I saw - my mother and my oldest sister let me go with them. I've been in love with vampire movies - particularly Dracula ones ever since. It wasn't until the last year that I read the original book they were derived from so I could just enjoy them for what they were. I can see where some folks don't like them changing the story for the big screen but there were parts of the book it was hard to get through and I think it would have been a hard sell in it's orginal form...

How much do I fail as a goth?
And you haven't seen me yet with "natural" blonde hair. I told my adorable hairdresser I wanted "newscaster hair" and she giggled during the whole process. (She's used to giving me Big Extensions in Odd Colors the day after tax season ends.)
(Why no, I don't read people's LJs nearly frequently enough. Someday I will break down and set up a FL.)
(Tea party? *poke poke*)
