Last night I went to bed early and took sleeping medication. I fell asleep quickly. I STILL couldn't wake up this morning. So, working from home it is! Which means I'll be just as productive and get laundry done, so bonus?

I also managed to get writing done last night, ohthankgoodness. My goal is to get the next GCS column off to my awesome beta readers tonight, and then post it on Friday. And if I'm really good, I'll get started on the next GCS column and get started on the next story installment for Steampunk Tales. We'll see.

Remember yesterday, when I was talking about looking at my two Deborah Lewis handbags and seeing if I wanted to affix a skeletal hand to either of them? It turns out I don't, because that idea would look clunky and pasted-on with those two purses. So oh woe, I guess I'll have to make do with those handbags being decorated with pink skull cameos. Woe, woe is me. ::winks::

Speaking of Deborah Lewis: as far as I can tell, she's not making handbags or parasols anymore. But if you're curious about the folding parasols, there IS one on eBay right this instant (clicky-link!). They really are nice parasols (even if I ended up making a new canopy for mine out of black taffeta with tiny silver stars).

Okay, back to never-ending copy edits, and waiting for the Amazon shipping elves to deliver my copy of Vampire Kisses 7. Have a good day, peeps!

It is particularly frustrating that I went to bed at a "decent" time last night AND took sleeping meds, and yet feel like my sleep was wholly defective. Enough so that I am taking advantage of the ability to work from home today. I know I'll be more productive at home than I would be at the office, and if I need to go take a nap, I CAN.

[livejournal.com profile] torreybird is a genius. I already knew that, but yesterday she helped me figure out the solution to my "What am I wearing on my head?" and "What jewelry?" dilemmas for Vampire Ball. Yay! (There will be photos AFTER the event. No, no pictures before. Yes, I know, I'm silly.)

Also for Vampire Ball, tonight I have another fitting for my outfit, which also means I get to spend time around the Infamous BlueJay, which is always a good time.

(Note to Self: decide which boots you are wearing to the Vampire Ball.)

Okay, back to editing documentation bugs. And more tea, ohgoodnessyes.
Dear Whatever Powers and Muses I Need to Beseech,

I would like to have Words Back, please. I reeeeeaaally need to write, and I want to. So, can I have my words back?

Thank you!

Sleep. So, I've mentioned that I'm nocturnal AND an insomniac, right? (I have vivid memories of being 4 or 5 and being wide awake into the small hours of the night, quietly playing with my toys because I couldn't fall asleep.) The Stroppy One, not pleased with this gradual slide into waking up at 11:30 or noon, has convinced me to try going to bed at 1:30-ish on most nights, and getting up around 10:30 in the morning. Okay, I can see the good points in this, especially since job-hunting probably works best during daylight. Except that I go to bed at that time, then lie awake until around 3:30, listening to the Stroppy One sleep. Let's hope the re-setting of my sleep schedule takes effect soon.

---

I left the b&w stripy fabric in the hibiscus tea bath overnight. I am going to rinse and see how it turned out very soon. If it didn't darken the fabric enough for me, my back-up plan is to run it through the washer with about a tablespoon of Rose Pink RIT. Just enough to add a faint blush to the white, not enough to make it really pink.

Okay, time to see if Words are NOT Gone. Wish me luck!
Show And Tell: Fables And Fields Green by Blackbird Orchestra.

Thank you to Amy, Cass, and Plei for being super-fast betas on this one!

(Carlee, the Noxenlux Chapeau review will be the next one. ::grin::)

In other news, I slept poorly last night, but had dreams of being at Disneyland. ::sigh:: My spiritual home, it calls to me. Not that I am going there this year. We have other travel plans (yay!), and the Stroppy One has requested that we not set foot in a Disney property for a while, as the Kingdom of the Mouse is not his spiritual home. I respect that. But that doesn't mean that I don't miss Disneyland.
A sure sign I have been without an office job for a while: my body clock has reasserted its natural setting, and I am incapable of falling asleep before 2:30 - 3:00AM, and being woken up at 11:30AM seems perfectly reasonable. The only problem with this is that my darling husband, The Stroppy One, likes daylight, and would be happiest getting up at something like 9:00AM. ::shudders delicately::

But! While I was awake and tootling around the internets at two in the morning, I learned about micro ring loop hair extensions! Human hair extensions that you attach to your head in a process that's kind of like latch-hooking in miniature! And why look, eBay has them in pink! (Clicky-link!) I am going to think about this a bit more (and find out which of my local friends I could sweet-talk into helping me add the extensions to the back of my head), but I think this is the best way for me to add pink to my hair without doing any (more) damage to it.

Bad:

- The Insomnia Fairy visited last night. I traditionally sleep even worse than usual during PMS, but eeesh. If I ever catch the Insomnia Fairy, I am going to mount it in a lovely glass-topped box with a lot of shiny shiny pins.

- Writing the next Gothic Charm School has been a complete loss this week. Part of it is due to my my brain being all unfocused and wonky, part is my being intimidated about saying the wrong thing.

- I have a MASSIVE MASSIVE headache. I can't tell if it's a sinus migraine, or if something in my neck is out. I am hoping the meds and the iced tea will help. I may piteously whimper at The Husband to go make a run for iced coffee and some sort of sugary thing, but will feel awful for doing so because he's behind on HIS deadline and was unwell yesterday. Dear self, you need to take those driving lessons ASAP.

Good:

EDITED TO ADD: Hey, I'm on Goths In Hot Weather today! http://www.gothsinhotweather.com/ (scroll down to see me and Mary Poppins!)

- Oooh, I get to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] staxxy today!

- I am going to try and go visit [livejournal.com profile] maiaarts tomorrow!

- I am going to try and attend the gallery showing for [livejournal.com profile] carpe_jugulum and [livejournal.com profile] robotangel on Saturday night!

- I'm making progress on the closet culling. Soon, I move on to the taking photos of everything part.

Possibly good, possibly bad:

I've been slowly browsing through the clicky-links of distraction you lovely people sent me. Oh goodness, the List of Coveting has grown. [livejournal.com profile] carpe_jugulum hon, I blame you for my sudden NEED to own these. (clicky-link!) Really, if I had the money, these would go on the top of the "Hit the shiny purchase button" list. Before new lipstick, even.
