Bad:

- The Insomnia Fairy visited last night. I traditionally sleep even worse than usual during PMS, but eeesh. If I ever catch the Insomnia Fairy, I am going to mount it in a lovely glass-topped box with a lot of shiny shiny pins.

- Writing the next Gothic Charm School has been a complete loss this week. Part of it is due to my my brain being all unfocused and wonky, part is my being intimidated about saying the wrong thing.

- I have a MASSIVE MASSIVE headache. I can't tell if it's a sinus migraine, or if something in my neck is out. I am hoping the meds and the iced tea will help. I may piteously whimper at The Husband to go make a run for iced coffee and some sort of sugary thing, but will feel awful for doing so because he's behind on HIS deadline and was unwell yesterday. Dear self, you need to take those driving lessons ASAP.

Good:

EDITED TO ADD: Hey, I'm on Goths In Hot Weather today! http://www.gothsinhotweather.com/ (scroll down to see me and Mary Poppins!)

- Oooh, I get to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] staxxy today!

- I am going to try and go visit [livejournal.com profile] maiaarts tomorrow!

- I am going to try and attend the gallery showing for [livejournal.com profile] carpe_jugulum and [livejournal.com profile] robotangel on Saturday night!

- I'm making progress on the closet culling. Soon, I move on to the taking photos of everything part.

Possibly good, possibly bad:

I've been slowly browsing through the clicky-links of distraction you lovely people sent me. Oh goodness, the List of Coveting has grown. [livejournal.com profile] carpe_jugulum hon, I blame you for my sudden NEED to own these. (clicky-link!) Really, if I had the money, these would go on the top of the "Hit the shiny purchase button" list. Before new lipstick, even.

From: [identity profile] indigo-tide.livejournal.com

There are too many shiny purchase buttons on the internet and probably not enough shiny pay bills buttons. But those are never shiny when I do find them anyway.

"I traditionally sleep even worse than usual during PMS"

I have that too. I would love to get rid of it, but I guess it's hormone related.

Those Gothsinhotweather people only gave you a 5 for gothiness? Fie on them, I say! FIE.

Wheeeeeeeee

I would be SO HAPPY to see you tomorrow! I assume after noon (I have learned my lesson about how early the Goth Girl gets up)

Hi, sweetie -- another great post!

By chance, I saw another intriguing blog in LJ's "spotlight" for this week. Like yours (and unlike mine), it is not especially interested in prurience (to put it as nicely as possible). But, in a wholly nice way, the first posting on it was about the writer's days as a dominatrix. (No kidding!)

Hugs, Justine

From: [identity profile] staxxy.livejournal.com

honestly, I am surprised you wouldn't rather have these: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&listing_id=28944204

what with them being black and white and having a black lace ruffle and all. Or is it the size issue? You may simply need to ask about that.

From: [identity profile] javagoth.livejournal.com

Those are polyester/lycra blend vs a cotton/lycra blend. The cotton ones will be a bit cooler and potentially more comfy...

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Oh, I know the cotton ones would be cooler. But, like I said to Stax, it's a sizing issue. An entirely theoretical sizing issue, as I have no spending money, alas!

From: [identity profile] javagoth.livejournal.com

The ones you're coveting are actually the cotton ones. The ones Staxxy pointed out are the polyester ones...

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Sizing issue. And it's all theoretical anyway, and I am in debt to Fluevog. :-)

From: [identity profile] valdary.livejournal.com

Its the night sweats that keep me awake, Even with no covers or clothing I am melting. Then the second I get off the bed I am utterly and absolutely frozen. Yaargh!

Nice clicky link of distraction for you, very cool earrings, http://www.bugemporium.com/page/1076029 and if you ever do catch that pesky fairy they do insect display cases too.

From: [identity profile] valdary.livejournal.com

Did I mention the leather bracelets with real wasps and scorpions

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Before I go look at the clicky-link, I must ask: are there spiders on the page? I am ridiculously arachnophobic. (Yes, I know, a goth terrified of spiders is a sad, sad case. But I can't help it.)

From: [identity profile] valdary.livejournal.com

Ants, weevils, iridiscent beetles, and scorpions. No actual spiders on that page but I can't guarrantee the rest of the site being spider free. Some of the buggy creatures are quite leggy if you find that offputting but not actually arachnid

I have the feeling the two are NOT unrelated.

Maybe some pretty hatpins will help?

Those stripey pants remind me of ruffled pants (http://xylemclothing.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=30) I got at the Green Festival last fall (there was an on-site sale too). OMG, cutest thing, so comfy, & soy/organic cotton too. I get compliments & "where'd you get those???" every time I wear them. Great for summer too.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

I, of course, would just wear them around the house. Because leaving the house in trouser-type things? Nuh-huh.

I am soooo tempted to see if I can figure out how to make my own version.

From: [identity profile] trystbat.livejournal.com

Wearing them, it almost looks like a skirt. And then you move. The ruffles at the bottom are *so* full & swingy! Also, on me, they're a little longer than tea-length.

I wouldn't try to reproduce this one or your clicky-link exactly since they're both in knit fabrics, which are PITA to sew. But that Etsy seller had uber-ruffly bloomers in non-stretch cotton that would be easier (esp. if you could find nifty laces!).

I've often bought or made standard poufy bloomers, but then I end up not wearing them bec. they just look 'eh' or too poufy (unless under a skirt). These knit styles are sleek enough at the hip to wear solo.

You should be on Hot Goths In Weather, not Goths In Hot Weather.

Aww, lookit you all gussied up in Disney! I think I met that same M.P. cast member once. She's very charming.

Lovely picture on Goths in Hot Weather!

I'm looking forward to the next blog entry, though I can understand how it could be difficult to fully address. Maybe it can be posted in more than one part?

I have many pins to donate to this cause. Ugh last night was awful and it took two naps to even begin to feel proto-human.

From: [identity profile] indilwen.livejournal.com

oh, yay, you have livejournal! more fun stuff to read :)

Now all I want to know is...HOW did I not know Goths in Hot Weather existed until now? That's it...I'm getting on that page somehow.

From: [identity profile] lunakitten.livejournal.com

You know, I was too unfocused at the time to send in anything for the goths of color article, but I would have liked to contribute in some way. If you'd like, I'd be happy to look it over for you.
I can give you my POC/Sociologist/Goth credentials if you'd like. :D

I have a link for you, sweetheart...

My order of this was sent out to me this past Monday...

I can hardly wait to get it in the mail. *whimper* You know that ketchup commercial "An-tic-i-pa-ay-tion. It's making me wait..." I'm about to 'splode. *sigh*

For your PMS, I would recommend Passionflower Tincture. Dropperful in a glass of water. What it does is switch off the mind chatter so you can shut down and get some rest. It leaves you a whole lot less fuzzy than anything over the counter or prescription.

Cool pic with Miss Poppins! ;)

From: [identity profile] erischild.livejournal.com

*blink blink* when you say "driving lessons" exactly what are you solving for? 'Cause, I'm pretty sure one or two of us could help out with that.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Driving as in vroom vroom beep beep, me finally getting a driver's license. I figure that at 40, I'm old enough to be allowed to operate a motor vehicle. :)

From: [identity profile] erischild.livejournal.com

Ah. Yes. we could definitely help with that. I'm not even that easy to freak out, with patience and good explany things too. But not with sticks, I can only drive those in an emergency.

From: [identity profile] mimi-monsterr.livejournal.com

I feel your pain on the coveting! I absolutely *need* the Lip Service Lost Velvet Empire Burning Empires jacket, I think I may die without it... :( alas I have no pennies!

Is your dear husband interested in cleaning a bit of his closet? :)

Hey, guy goths need cheap stuff too and we cannot pull off wearing some women's clothes. No matter how much try. :)

Headaches, PMS, and Insomonia that is just so unfair.

From: [identity profile] sinicallytwsted.livejournal.com

Awwww ;0( *HUGS HUGS* I hope you can get a visit from the Sleep Fairy instead of that pesky Insomnia one.

From: [identity profile] jayorin.livejournal.com

-Ah, the insomnia fairy. I know this creature very well. *Hands over pins for the cause*

-As for the goths of color, darling, don't worry! You have advise coming out of the ying yang for it, and I have always known you (since I read your website a year or two back) to always be sensitive and intelligent. On subject that freak a lesser person (like me) out. You will be fine, I promise!

-I hope the headaches and PMS gets better, and I feel your pain on the driving thing (buses in central florida are just a pain!)
