cupcake_goth: A lady always carries a handkerchief. (dainty cliche)

I hate exercising. I find it tedious and boring. But, if I want to lose the weight that has crept on in the past few months (and oh yes, I do, because I worked too damn hard to lose all of it in the first place), I need to get back in the habit of exercising, along with keeping track of my food.

So. Exercise. I have ... failed at leaving my desk to go for walks. I keep telling myself I'm going to do it, and, well. Yeah. Hasn't happened yet.

But! We have an exercise bike now. For the past couple of days, I've been making myself use the damn thing. And let me tell you, there is an art to picking movies to watch while using the exercise bike. I need something that will distract me enough so I don't look at the timer every minute. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoneix? Not engrossing enough, apparently.

But Zombieland? Zombieland is perfect. Maybe the secret is gore?

Tomorrow, I'll try 30 Days of Night.

I have been rather lax for a while now about going for walks during the day. Yes, I have been using the Wii Fit (off and on), but I need to get back in the habit of a half-hour walk every day. Today, I couldn't bring myself to leave my office, but I did pace around my office for almost the entire length of an episode of Pushing Daisies. And then my iPod battery ran out. But, it was a walk (of a sort), and I think I'll find briskly pacing around my office while watching Pushing Daisies is something I'll be willing to find time for every day.

Earlier today, while staring forlornly at a topic one of my writers had handed off, there was a knock at my office door. The super-cool senior editor I work with had gone to run some errands, and brought back cupcakes. Mmmm, cupcake.

Tonight: start writing the next GCS on the bus home. Dinner, then possibly watching Let The Right One In (yay vampires!), and writing an email concerning perfumes.

Sometime before Thursday, I need to go through my petticoat collection and find the few that are mid-calf length, because my skirt for the Vampire Ball is above ankle-length. Yes, people will be able to see my feet, which is not my usual standard at a fancy dress-up event. But my black leather granny boots with the pink ribbons will be perfect with the outfit, so yay.
Argh argh argh. I have no sense of balance, apparently. If I keep using the dratted Wii Fit, will my sense of balance improve? Who knows?! I certainly can tell that I rest my weight on my left foot when I twirl while dancing, that's for sure.

Now, to sit on the couch and feel uncoordinated.
Speak to me of the Wii Fit, peoples. [livejournal.com profile] girlgoth demonstrated hers for me, and I admit, I am intrigued. I'd been idly thinking about finding out more about them for a while, and actually seeing one and how it works has made me even more curious.

Which leads me to the second part of the question. So, if I DID decide I wanted to get one, where would I find the best price on the whole thing: the Wii + the Wii Fit bundle?

*For those of you who are wondering why I am mildly amused to find myself asking about a Wii: I am NOT a video gamer. They just don't interest me. I will admit, I had fun singing along with Rock Band, but even that didn't fill me with the urge to play it lots and lots. So the fact that I am even contemplating getting a video game system for myself is possibly one of the modern signs of the apocalypse.
