Guys, guys! My Vampire Requiem replica skirt should be shipping out in two weeks!

::claps hands delightedly::

I'm still conflicted about brand replicas in EGL fashion. On the one hand, making copies of other people's work is dodgy at best, and artistic theft at worst. On the other hand, the big EGL brands apparently can't be bothered to make their items to fit larger sizes, which is beyond annoying. I would have to buy two of the original AatP Vampire Requiem skirts to turn them into one skirt that would fit my 33" waist. And that's supposing I had the sort of mad money to blow on something that frivolous. The skirt originally retailed for over $200, and if I've got over $400 to spend, I'm buying something custom from Kambriel, something from Fluevog, or getting a tattoo.

(Also, having seen EGL brand garments up close and in real life, you cannot convince me that the workmanship/materials are worth that high of a markup. If I ever get some fabric custom-printed via Spoonflower*, the Infamous BlueJay would be able to help me make skirts that were far better-made than the stuff I've seen from EGL brands.)

To sum up: whoo! Black Vampire Replica skirt! Soon to be mine!

* Yes, there are vague plans afoot to create my own gothy-goth prints for fabric. I just have to wait for the Stroppy One to have some free time in his schedule ...

So. Replica skirt!
I am still haunted by my longing for a skirt in this print:

From the Vampire Requiem line, by Alice and the Pirates. It probably wouldn't fit me, and when it was released it was over $200. Now, it's considered rare (and is the dream print for a lot of people in the EGL community), and pieces from that line go for INSANE amounts of money.

But every time I see a photo of the ivory colorway of the print, I sigh.
Apparently it is the time of year when very expensive things I covet come into existence.

Behold, the new print from the Gothic Lolita brand Baby the Stars Shine Bright:

The skirt (but in the wrong colorway):

$200. Aaaand probably wouldn't fit me anyway. But oooh, I love that sort of print. Look at the details!

(As someone else on [livejournal.com profile] egl said, this print makes up for the Vampire Forest print (clicky-link)) from Alice and the Pirates, BtSSB's sub-line. Which, with a name like "Vampire Forest", should have been more enticing to me than it is.)
Now that I'm done traveling for a while (as far as I know), I'm culling the closets. Yes, that includes shoes and boots. Because I am going to purchase myself those Fluevog Babycake boots. I've been coveting them for too damn long, and I don't want to run the risk of them being discontinued.

When I'm a little more awake and coherent, I'll burble about Innocente Seraphim. The short version: Wheeee! That was a lot of fun, and I'm planning on going back next year.
Thing the First: As some of you know, I have been stuck in a game of Spin the Wheel of Re-Org at work lately, which has had caused me to be sullen, unmotivated, and filled with ennui. As of Friday evening I am now an Official Member of the editing team I was kinda-sorta loosely affiliated with. Hurrah, I DO have a job! I am also going to be moving to a new building in a couple of weeks. (The new building is closer to the cafeteria with the tasty Mexican food, so I must remain diligent in going for walks every day.)

Thing the Second: You all know I'm fascinated with Elegant Gothic Lolita and Elegant Gothic Aristocrat styles, right? Not the suffocatingly frilly, ruffle-covered baby doll stuff, of course, but knee-length skirts, petticoats, and frilly blouses are things I've adored for years now. I've been looking at the [livejournal.com profile] daily_lolita and [livejournal.com profile] egl communities off and on for a few weeks now, and I think it's starting to affect my brain. Because, really, I'm pretty certain that something like this black headdress (clicky link!) would veer waaaaaay too far into mutton dressed as lamb territory. But I keep looking at it. I suspect I'm going to have to make something similar (and wear it around the house while watching [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage's eyes roll right out of his head) to get this out of my system.

(But I still want a mini crown headpiece (clicky link!). That particular bit of coveting hasn't changed.)

Thing the Third: Shallow Fashion Details!Under the cut-tag, as usual )

I'm selling 2 different EGA-style dresses. They're both very nice, just not full enough for my petticoats. Both dresses are professionally made (by cosplay companies out of Hong Kong), and are made from mid-weight poly-cotton.

Both dresses approximate measurements are:

Bust: 40"
Waist: 34"
Hips: 44"

Pictures of the dresses are here. I'm asking $60 for each dress, not including shipping.

Anyone interested? If so, post a comment and we'll figure things out from there.
