We had to skip out on dinner with [livejournal.com profile] ladymoira last night, because we didn't want to risk the roads. We know we made the right decision, but still, boo! But we made cocoa, and we made cupcakes. Breakfast of gothy champions:

The freezing temperatures and icy conditions mean no one is really sure if we'll be able to get [livejournal.com profile] kambriel and Curse to the airport tonight, and the airline doesn't know if their flight will be will even be happening. "Call back in three hours", they say. "If your flight is delayed or canceled, you can change your tickets with no fee." In all honesty, things would be easier if their flight did get canceled, they stay with us, and then fly home in a few days.

(DISCLAIMER: I did NOT summon the snow demons in order to keep them here for longer. [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny, however, is looking pretty damn smug.)

In a little bit, all of us are going to get bundled up and walk to the grocery store for supplies. My boots with the best traction? My skeleton Docs.

And finally, here, have a photo of Constance bunny that [livejournal.com profile] kambriel took this morning:

You know what one of the fantastic things about my current team is? Work at home Fridays. Yes, I got to sleep in a little bit today, and get to do my editing work in the company of the Stroppy One and the cats. Yay!

Tonight is a going-out-dancing night, with the StuntHusband, [livejournal.com profile] kiltlad, and a special guest appearance from [livejournal.com profile] caliban1227 and his lovely girl (who's LJ name escapes me at the moment). I ... have no idea what I'm going to wear tonight. Oh, the dithering! (The Stroppy One helpfully suggested "Clothes. Black ones. With some red.")

Promoting a talented friend! G.D. Falksen has a story that is eligible for a Hugo nomination!
It is The Strange Case of Mr. Salad Monday, (clicky-link!) which I thought was all sorts of clever fun. You can vote for it to get a Hugo nomination by going here.

(He is also up for getting a Campbell Award: http://www.writertopia.com/profiles/GDFalksen)

Now that I've made him very bashful by talking about his story, please go vote for him!

Okay, back to editing, and trying to determine if this headache is due to sinuses, not enough food, or not enough caffeine. Oh, and I should probably call my chiropractor, too.

Have I mentioned how much I love music playlists or mixes that friends give to me? I really do. Whether it be music someone thinks I'd like or that I need to learn about ::blows kisses at [livejournal.com profile] djeternaldarkne and [livejournal.com profile] smu::, or mixes where every song was picked because it reminds them of me, I love them.

Things have been a little ... erm ... hectic, that's the word, here in Cupcake-Goth-Land. No surprise there, what with the job hunting and the OH MY GOODNESS BOOK RELEASE NEXT WEEK (!!!), and a bunch of other stuff going on. So while working on Stuff tonight, I decided to put on the mix [livejournal.com profile] staxxy made for me a few years ago. It's entitled About Jillian, and I really do think it's one of the best mixes anyone has made specifically for me.

A track listing )

Have I mentioned that I consider [livejournal.com profile] staxxy to be the Queen of Mixes? She is.

Okay, break-time is over. Back to work!
