Last night, the StuntHusband, [personal profile] minim_calibre, and myself went dancing at the once-a-month new wave/goth/industrial night that the StuntHusband and I prefer. The DJs were in an odd mood, so there wasn't a lot of goth and industrial, but a lot of club music. Eh, I still got to dance a bit, and it was nice to get dressed up and flounce around for the evening.

And since it was Solstice, "dressed up" had to be extra-fancy, right?

(I am really proud of how that flower crown turned out. Rosemary from [personal profile] minim_calibre's yard, and roses from the grocery store. Also, shout-out to the Hannibal fandom!)
I observed it by standing in my back yard at dusk, quietly talking to the ancient apple tree that has a holly tree growing at the base and ivy twining around the trunk. Then I ran around the yard with a sparkler (mmmm, sparkler!), and left a candle in a jar burning in the yard.

Hey, we all create our own rituals as needed.

May the rest of this year be kinder to all of us than the first half.

Happy Solstice, folks. Now the light comes back.

I did NOT get to see the lunar eclipse last night, thanks to the cloud cover. But it was nifty just knowing that it was happening. Instead, I did what I usually do on a Solstice: talked to Clovis about what I wanted the next six months to bring. (Yes, I'm serious. Just nod, and accept that my particular forms of magic and ritual are different than most.)

Today is chores, chores, chores. Tonight is the traditional Father & Daughter holiday shopping expedition, also known as "How many people will Jilli and her Dad confuse!" It's one of my favorite holiday traditions. This year, to ward off "Are you a caroler?" questions, I think I will wear a B&W striped blazer, fluffy skirts, and my skeleton Docs. And a top hat, of course.
