Y'know, I hope that the American public will recognize the selection of Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate for the cynical ploy that it is. Or that they'll at least realize that this country does not need another four years of Republican "leadership". But that hope doesn't keep me from worrying.

So, coffee. Yesterday I caved, and purchased a double-tall iced Americano from the cafeteria. It was ... what I expected. As in, over-roasted, on the bitter side, and while certainly recognizable as coffee, it wasn't the coffee I was craving.

This morning, because I wanted GOOD coffee badly enough to get out of bed earlier, we went to Cafe Besalu and stood in line. And stood in line. And watched the Connector Bus sail down the street, heading to the stop I pick it up at. But! The bus was running early, the driver waited at the stop, and I was able to finally satisfy my craving for a heavenly double-tall iced Americano and a pain au chocolat AND still catch my bus.

(A couple of you made the very sensible suggestion that I get a French press and keep some good coffee at work, thus solving the whole problem. Which is a clever idea, except for the fact that I don't really drink coffee that often any more. I've almost entirely switched to tea; it's just that every now and then I crave REALLY GOOD coffee.)
Stephanie Meyer has made the draft of the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun (Twilight from SparkleBoy's Edward's POV) publicly available. (clicky-link!) Because the draft had gotten leaked last week.

A quote from her post: I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely. Hmmm, does that look like a classic symptom of the Great Flounce-Off to anyone else? (Rhetorical question, folks.) Any bets as to how long until the sparkly fans start up interwebs petitions begging her to finish it?

And, oh rapture, [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda has said she will recap the leaked chapters of Midnight Sun. Yaaaaay!
