The Clockwork Heart event on Friday night was all sorts of fun. Everyone looked great dressed up in their steampunk finery. I was able to catch up with a couple of friends I don't get to see very often, and discovered a new band to listen to. (Toy-Box Trio. They're quirky and charming; it's a well-known fact that playing vaguely circus-y music with a toy piano will always get my attention.)

Saturday involved going to the MAC store to play with makeup. (NO, I did not purchase anything from the new Hello Kitty line. None of the colors really grabbed me.) Saturday night was spent eating chocolate cake, trying out a new recipe for lemon drops, and watching episodes of Dr. Who. (We've now finally seen "Blink", and wow, was that a good and creepy episode.) (Yes, we are very behind in watching Dr. Who.)

Sunday was wheeee, baby shower! Which meant seeing people and nibbly food, things I am in favor of.

Today I unpacked my new office. Put more of my postcards and pictures up on the walls, arranged the books, the tea collection, the tea pot, and set up the monsters' tea party, all of which are necessary for the office to feel like MY office. Tonight is going to involve flopping on the couch and writing up a bunch of email I owe to people. And maybe starting on a jacket alteration project, I don't know. Oh, and deciding what the next GCS column is about, mustn't forget that part!

The office I am being moved into was already empty. I took advantage of that fact and put some of my posters up in the new space already.

[livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage stuck around my office today to help me pack, and then drove me home. So now I am working from home (until next week, whoo!), and am contemplating making myself some tea and a piece of raisin pecan toast with Brie.

In other news: WEATHER! It was snowing at work when we left (but not sticking), and it's snowing here at home (but not sticking). Dear Snow Demons, I didn't invite you back. Shoo. And take these flickering beginnings of a sinus migraine with you, thanks.

You know what the best part about working from home is? Besides the being with the Stroppy One and the kitties? That I will get to sleep in. Mmmmm, sleeping in.
Whoops, I didn't post any Things That Make Me Happy for a few days. Because I wasn't online much, not because I was dreadfully unhappy or anything.

Happy-making things:

- The movie Coraline.

- Chocolate martinis from the Dilettante.

- Spiced hazelnut/almond butter.

- Black/silver holographic glitter nail polish. (Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre!)

- Sleeping in.

- New corsets!

- Friends calling to come hang out.

- Going out dancing.

In other news, I'm packing up my office for the Giant Office Move that is happening in my org. I loathe packing. The office move has also made me realize that I need some sort of drawing of a chibi/cartoon-y version of me*, wearing headphones, with a note that says "Knock loudly, I'm listening to music". Because I always keep my office door closed and I have headphones on, so if someone is shy about knocking, I don't know they're there.

*Don't think that you people giggling and muttering "So, exactly the same as you usually look?" has escaped my notice. I keep telling you I am not entirely a cartoon character, but people never believe me ...
