I have two fairy tales left to write.

TWO! THEY WILL BE DONE BY THE WEEKEND, I SWEAR THIS ON MY POINTY BOOTS.

Anyhoodle, did you know that I'm part of a Kickstarter? You should totally go back it. And tell other people to back it. Yes. Trust me on this.

The big Gothic Charm School post about the Kickstarter for My Summer As A Goth!

My beta readers and sanity check people went above and beyond for this one, as it was written under a somewhat compressed deadline. I love you people, thank you!

Now, I always ask if you charming folks would help spread the word about new GCS posts. It's especially important for this one, because the more people who know about the Kickstarter campaign for the movie, the better the chances that the project will be funded.

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who has helped with the Kickstarter for My Summer As A Goth! We're off to a great start. Expect to see a lot of posts from me about it, because I want this project to succeed and start filming next summer.

The Super-Secret project I've been working on can now be talked about! My Summer As A Goth is an indie teen comedy, and our Kickstarter page is live! Please check it out, help promote it, and pledge if you can!

I am really excited about this project. The script is delightful, and the people involved in the project really do understand Goth. I am very flattered that they asked me to be their "Go-To Goth".
The Nocturnal House: Anno Dracula. Where I talk about one of my favorite vampire books!

ALSO! That talented husband of mine has a blog post up talking about a possible Kickstarter project, and he'd like feedback from people. Go read it and give your opinion! http://www.peteventers.com/blog/2011/08/01/kickstarter/
Let me tell you about a Kickstarter project I'm backing: Varney the Vampire: A Tale of Arteries and Absolution.

It's a 6 issue comic about Varney the Vampire. Who is real, wants to set the record straight after Bram Stoker plagerized his life to write Dracula, and has recruited his struggling screenwriter nephew to help him. Of course, there are some problems. Varney is feuding with a coven of witches, and his nephew isn't completely convinced that Varney is really who he says.

This is the sort of thing that makes me giggle. I have a ridiculous fondness for the sprawling penny dreadful tale of Varney the Vampire, and the idea of him wanting to finally claim the spotlight sounds like snarky fun. After I made my Kickstarter pledge for it (and convinced [livejournal.com profile] skarrin to do the same), the writer Scott Massino contacted me via Twitter and FB, and we've been talking ever since. Scott is a good guy with a wicked sense of humor, and has been kind enough to send me art from the first issue. Also, this project is Scott's dream and his way of getting his life back after some really awful health issues that wiped out everything he had. (I was supporting this project *before* I knew that, but that information makes it even more impressive that he's doing this.)

This series is going to be all sorts of fun. Vampires! Pop culture commentary and snarky humor! Wonderful art by Marcio Takara (who did art for The Incredibles comic)! So go take a look at the Kickstarter page. If you decide to become a backer (and I hope you do!), tell 'em that Jillian sent you. Thanks!
There's a Kickstarter for the amazing Transmetropolitan 2011 art book, which is going to feature some brilliantly-talented artists. Including my husband. If you can donate, please do!

Things I don't have time for (nor budget, really):

- I need to learn how to do stencils on fabric of somewhat elaborate fonts. I have a D.I.Y. project that depends on it. What I REALLY want is to embroider some phrases (in really elaborate fonts), but since (1) my embroidery skills aren't all that, and (2) I do not have the budget for a fancy-pants embroidery machine, stencils are probably the easier option.

- I need one of the 12 pound bag of bones. Yes, I do. I have at least three different projects that rely on my having reproduction human skeletal bits, not just hands. Anyone want to get me a bag of bones? ::grin

Another thing I don't have the budget for:

- [livejournal.com profile] maiaarts and her hubby (who I think has an LJ, but I don't remember it at the moment) (EDIT: Ah-ha! [livejournal.com profile] celedon, thank you [livejournal.com profile] staxxy!) gave me a vintage fortune-telling tea cup for my birthday last month.

I really shouldn't become obsessed with collecting fortune-telling tea cups. I know this. But look at this one on eBay! Ooooh.

Okay, I must go Do Stuff, as I have plans for this evening!
