- The auction for the Jacket of Coveting has not yet climbed out of my price range. ::makes covetous, grabby-hands motions at the monitor::

- Writing is ... going slowly, but starting to happen again. I need to make my list of projects that need to happen. Perhaps the first one should be a new GCS column. Or a review, because I adored [livejournal.com profile] cmpriest's Bloodshot, and want to tell the world.

- Another project I need to return my attention to is sorting and taking photos for a clothing sale, which will include Bags Of Mystery! this time. I need to do this partially because I'm in debt to the house, partially because I want to start setting aside money for the tattoo that will be in memory of Mom, and partially because I am in the beginning of a decluttering epiphany/freakout. So! Watch this LJ! Many shiny, frilly, velvety things, soon to be for sale.

- Oh, and yet another project: I need to order the spikes so I can customize another pair of shoes, this time taking photos so I can write up a tutorial for GCS. (And then probably auction off the finished shoes.)

- Plus, y'know, dayjob.

In other words, I'm keeping busy. And getting ambushed by things that remind me of Mom, but that's to be expected.
- iPod fully recharged: YES!

- The Stroppy One getting coffee later: YES!

Yesterday, I made enough progress that today is going to be more organizing than cleaning/weeding through things. A particularly frustrating thing is that there is a dresser down in our basement that would be great up in my storage room, but getting it out of the basement and up the perilously steep stairs TO the storage room makes it not worth the effort.

After the great Storage Room Adventure is all over, I may start setting aside one evening a week to sort through fabric and trims to make up interesting bundles to sell over on Etsy. Maybe.
- I have discovered the Lost Kingdom of Safety Pins!

- Oh wow, there's the far wall! Haven't seen that in ages.

- Do dried rose petals just spontaneously manifest in here? I'm starting to think so.

- Same thing with boxes of vintage lace, 'cos I don't remember buying a lot of these.

- I wonder what will happen if I pull on this random piece of ribbon? ::crash:: Oh, boxes will fall over because the ribbon is tangled around them. All righty, then.

I think next weekend will be the War On Clutter, The Sequel: Organizing! And I think I'm going to need to start checking out thrift stores for chests of drawers and such, to help KEEP things organized this time.

I got about a quarter of the Storage Heap Room O' Doom cleaned out and a bit more organized. There is still a LOT more to be done. To say that I am a packrat is an epic bit of understatement. My eventual goal is to turn that room into an office and sewing room. Is that even remotely possible? I don't know, but I'm going to try.

In dealing with the SRO'D, I am discovering that I have a lot of random pieces of fabric that I don't want. A LOT. My current plan is to just take everything I don't want and donate it to Goodwill or another thrift store.

Wow, I ache. Cleaning is better exercise than I realized!
All last year, I said "I'll tackle cleaning out and organizing the storage heap room after I'm done with the book!" When I needed to find a certain item of club clothing or supplies for sewing projects, unearthing them from the storage heap room was an exciting adventure. Would I find the black lace trim or velvet & faux-fur frock coat that I knew was up there somewhere? Maybe! (Well, usually. After 15 minutes or more of rummaging and heaving piles of ruffly skirts aside.)

But.

I'm done with the writing and editing part of the book, aren't I? Which means I really DO have to start The Great Clear-Out. Yes, it will be interesting and exciting, finding things I forgot I had. It will also be tedious, and really hard work. I am a pack-rat, to put it mildly. But it Must Be Done.

(This post brought to you by my rummaging through the storage heap room in an attempt to find a bag of fabric I KNEW I had. I eventually found it, but it took over half an hour.)
