The weather continues to be lovely. Cool, cloudy, and occasional rain. Weather that allows me to wear tights! And jackets! Yes, I know, there are swarms of you sulking because The Orb went away, but I am enjoying this weather while it's around.

---

I have a nigh-overwhelming craving for a really good iced Americano and some sort of starchy sweet thing. So really, I am craving an iced Americano and a pan au chocolat from Cafe Besalu. Which is nowhere near my office; as in, other side of the lake nowhere near. Dammit.

(No, going to the coffee stand at work is not even remotely a good substitute. The coffee at work is okay if you absolutely need a hit of caffeine and aren't too fussy about the taste.)

::holds up GothCard for a cliché stamp:: What is one of the only apps I have purchased from the iPhone app store? No, not any of the ones that make wacky noises, but the eBook of Dracula. Because having a copy of Dracula with me at all times makes me happy.

SFDs! I'll try and take a photo tonight, because there was no time this morning.

  • Black ballet flats with bows and silver skulls.

  • Not-quite ivory but not-quite white crocheted tights.

  • The b&w stripe/black paneled skirt that I talked about making in this post (clicky-link!). (For the curious, NO, I did not sew ball fringe to the hem of the scallops. I used a narrow black Venise lace.) The skirt is worn over a fluffy black petticoat.

  • A black chemise which no one can see, because it's worn under a princess-seamed black twill jacket. This jacket (clicky-link!), as a matter of fact, but I replaced all the brass buttons with black ones.

  • My hair pulled up under my usual top hat, a silver heart locket with a skull & crossbones tied around my neck with a pink satin ribbon in a bow, the usual rings, and my rhinestone "perkygoth" bracelet.

  • Makeup: YSL Touch Eclat under my eyes and a dusting of Aromaleigh high-res finishing powder. Eye makeup is MAC "pink opal" pigment from lashline to browbone, cupcake pink at the outer third of lids, Aromaleigh "gothic" pigment (a dark shimmery burgundy, stop snickering) blended on the outer corners and used as liner for the lower lashline, black liquid liner on the top lid, and black mascara. With MAC "currant" lipliner under Chanel "Vamp" lipstick.

Coming soon to this LJ, if I have the time: makeup reviews (China Glaze "Lubu Heels" nail polish, MAC "Bing" lipstick from the Cult of Cherry set), and a couple of YA book reviews (Generation Dead by Daniel Waters, and Vamps by Nancy A. Collins. A brief tangent: NANCY A. COLLINS IS WRITING YA, WHAT? I am confused.)

Wow, I really want good coffee. ::sigh::

I thought Cult of Cherry wasn't supposed to be out until tomorrow?

Can you tell I've been on makeupalley?

I went to the pre-release event last week! (Which, in addition to pretty makeup, had chocolate martinis and tasty snacks.)

Sneaky! Very sneaky!

So, love? Hate? Yay? Nay? Inquiring minds do not wanna wait. :-D

The short review of Bing: Ooooh, the closest duplicate I've found of the long-discontinued ORIGINAL formula of Revlon Blackberry.

I've been making cold brewed coffee at home, which makes for an incredible chilled drink. Perfect for the morning commute. I can give you my recipe if you want. For sheer geekiness, I'm storing the finished coffee concentrate in a 500 ml Erlenmeyer flask.

Not to rub salt in your wound but......I had the onion gruyere and ham and swiss pastry from besalu this morning.

Thats right, I am pig and I don't care.

I'm curious to read your review of VAMPS. As a matter of fact, one of my friends is a reader for a French YA publisher, and had to read this book for a possible future translation. She showed me the jacket, which we both thought was hilarious, but somehow never told me about the story...

Don't get me wrong, I own a lot of Nancy Collins' vampire books, and enjoyed them. And I'm a fan of YA paranormal novels, too. I just can't quite wrap my head around the notion of Nancy Collins, creator of Sonya Blue, writing a YA novel. And especially not the sort of YA novel that Vamps turned out to be.

I LOVE cloudy rainy weather for similar reasons. I can be more elaborate with my clothing. Oh, and while it had no black, this made me (http://15dollarstore.com/p/outer-edge-boucle-blazer/0153417442) think of you (there's a link). They have an all-pink one as well, under Jackets (near the very end). I'm looking for a nice, black, short victorian-ish blazer (that's priced cheap), and all I find is pink fluffy finery. *sigh*

I'm almost done with Generation Dead, I've enjoyed it tremendously so far although I had a hard time getting into it at the beginning - but that could be just all my "outside" stress wouldn't allow me to focus.

Sent you an email about stripy fun! ;)
