Do you ever have those days where, as the day drags on, you become less and less happy about what you're wearing? (Don't fib, I know you do.) Yeah. So as the day has progressed I have realized that the waistband on this particular knee-length full skirt is too big, so the skirt hangs in a way I find exasperating. (Yes, even over the petticoats.) The black wool jacket is about 2" too long, so instead of sitting at my waist, it crumples at it. And when I tailored this particular thrift store find I apparently didn't do it enough, because the jacket seems to be about 1.5" -2" too big through the waist. As a final annoyance, I've decided that the stripy heart & bat patch I added should not be on the left arm, but really should have gone above the left breast pocket.

In short, I'm not as pleased with this outfit as I thought I would be. Grr. Everything I'm wearing is going straight back on the alterations pile when I get home.

Amazingly enough, I actually have.

My bane is socks - the elastic wouldn't be strong enough, and they'd fall down and bunch up. I seem to have finally found socks that work (huzzah!), but have socks fail 1/2 through your workday just bites.

All the time! Estrogen? Is a bitch. Swap "less and less happy" to "actively embarrassed" and that's my way of things about 1/3 of the time. My work wardrobe is not what it could be. I find it hard to dress my age (I actually skew towards too old, but too young for me is even worse) and I go through shoes like nobody's business. For example--the otherwise pretty polka-dotted microfiber dress I'm wearing today hits me at mid-calf. A more flattering, less weird hemline would be 6 inches higher without being at all provocative. I get compliments on the dress, but I feel old in it. I keep putting off whacking the bottom of it off. I can't face alterations right now. I have 5 new pairs of pants I can't even wear because I'm too busy and stressed and can't deal.

And my pantyhose is too tight. I bought size "tall" for Target and have found it inadequate. Barely tall enough and tight on the tummy. I would be more comfortable in their 1X. I don't even care what size I am but I would like the damned tights to be properly labeled.

I'll bet neither one of us looks as we feel.

Change "clothes" to "hair" and I'm right there with you.

I can't keep the damn stuff under control today. It's all sliding out of barettes and wisping everywhere.

Humph, I say.

Waistband too big? Jacket not tailored at the waist? Ever think that maybe you're just losing weight? This could turn into a good thing!

While I would be delighted to think this is because I'm losing weight, I don't think that's the case. I've been, um, rather slack in the eating properly and exercising realms lately.

I failed to notice any of that, but then I was either talking to Mario or running to catch up with you. I'm fighting the urge to suggest selling what you don't want to bother with altering. (How's that for preterition?)

I can honestly say that there have been many days where I have changed outfits at least 3 times. Not including club nights where of course you change in something either a little more 'clubby' or something you wouldn't mind getting a drink spilled on. Don't get me started on those 'nasty' times of the month when nothing looks good and I just want to dump my closet and start over. So in short, I feel your pain :)
