- Sinus headache. Painkillers and a pot of tea have not helped yet.

- Is this headache going to make it impossible for me to dye my hair today? I don't know, but I really need to do Goth Upkeep in the next two days.

- The news today is appalling and depressing.

- I should spend today writing, oh yes. But what I really want to do is go rummage through the fabric stash and maybe make a skirt.

To sum up: bleah. Time for more tea, and perhaps REALLY LOUD music.
The most recent issue of Rue Morgue magazine introduced me to the music Kristen Lawrence (clicky-link!), and I am very grateful.

She's an organist, composer, and singer, and she's created a lovely collection of Halloween carols. It's the sort of music that would be played in the parlor of a classic haunted house, and I adore it. Between this and my growing collection of music by Nox Arcana, my wish for atmospheric, symphonic-with-a-dark-twist music is being granted. Go give her a listen!
I decided to burn one of my "Mexican Cocoa" -scented candles. It is sitting in a Jack o' Lantern -styled candleholder, on the corner of the end table here by the sofa, where I can enjoy it.

I just watch Trinian, Queen of Fuzzwumpia and possibly the dumbest cat alive, hop up on the arm of the sofa, stick her nose at the flame and singe her whiskers. She looked confused and turned around, sticking her very fluffy tail directly over the flame.

Yes, my dim cat just tried to set herself on fire. The really sad part? This is not the first time she's done this. The main reason I don't burn candles often is because Trinian has no brain or survival instinct, and I have had nightmarish visions of her lighting herself on fire, panicking, turning into a running, flailing fireball on four legs, then setting the house alight.
