The most recent issue of Rue Morgue magazine introduced me to the music Kristen Lawrence (clicky-link!), and I am very grateful.

She's an organist, composer, and singer, and she's created a lovely collection of Halloween carols. It's the sort of music that would be played in the parlor of a classic haunted house, and I adore it. Between this and my growing collection of music by Nox Arcana, my wish for atmospheric, symphonic-with-a-dark-twist music is being granted. Go give her a listen!

I <3 Nox Arcana. They are utterly fabulous. Great for background music when playing Call of Chthulu.

I've discovered that Nox Arcana are perfect background music for when I'm writing.

Oh, that would be good.

Also, I have just gone and listened and she is now on my must have list.

What a wonderful discovery indeed ~ many thanks for sharing!

BTW, I thought of you when I was at MCR's London gig on Saturday night - most definitely bombastic!!

Eeee, you went to the London MCR show? Oh, you lucky, lucky thing! Tell me about it!

Ha ha, it was brilliant in every way! They played in a beautiful art deco venue and packed 22 songs including 3 from their upcoming album into their 90 minute set. The half hour changeover between bands while the roadies set everything up seemed to last an eternity, but once the band appeared and the opening notes of Na Na Na began, everyone went completely wild. It was relentless from the start with one hit after another from all of their CDs and there's a fantastic review (great pics too!) that puts it far better than I ever could here:

One of the most memorable moments was when Gerard asked a purple-haired female fan to come onstage in case he forgot the words to 'Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us'. She asked if her twin sister with a huge blonde mohican could join them & the pair of them went absolutely nuts singing along and dancing. I can't help but grin every time I think about it & this video captures it quite well:

MCR had this eldergoth type dancing & jumping around like a mad fool and I loved every minute of it as did the wonderfully enthusiastic and mixed crowd. Gerard said they plan to be around for another 10 years ~ let's hope so!!

I love Nox Arcana! They are perfect background music for when I'm doing paperwork at the school. I've gotten several students hooked on them as well!

Thanks for the recommendation. She sounds amazing and is a fantastic discovery, indeed! Already added some of her music. Tomorrow there will be more properly spooky music coming from the Drama room.
