I'm certainly not going to be cross-posting anyone's comments to FB or Twitter. Please do me the same courtesy.

(Really, LJ? Really? Yes, I have journals that I sporadically update in other places, but I'm (for the most part) at home here on LJ. The StuntHusband gave me a permanent account ages ago, and all my stuff is here! But good lord, LJ makes a lot of bone-stupid "improvements".)

EDITED TO ADD INFORMATION FROM [livejournal.com profile] cofax7: "Okay, and here's an update you should be concerned about (LJ only): According to rivkat, the reinstated LJ pingback function includes notices of links from locked posts, and the content of those locked posts. Which means, if I have pingback enabled and you have pingback enabled, and I put up a locked post linking to your post and bitching about you--you would get a pingback notice with some of the content of my locked post."

[livejournal.com profile] cofax7 tested this and reported: "I just got a pingback from a locked post, complete with at least a hundred words of the locked post. Consider yourself warned."
Yes, this is all a reminder that whatever you put on the internet could come back in ways you didn't expect. But that "feature" of the cross post including the title or first sentence of a (possibly) locked post? Aside from the potential for drama-farming, there's the very real issues of people who want to keep their LJ identity FAR AWAY from whatever public FB they may have.

The thing that has me raising my eyebrows however, is the incompatibilities between how LJ treats your content and how FB treats it. Essentially, LJ says "Hey, your content is your content", whereas FB says "Hey, your content is your content, until someone else posts it or links to it anywhere on FB. Then it's our content!"

(That's a very, VERY simple explanation of it all, but it does cover the important points.)

So. Double-check your settings (http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/?cat=extensions), and be very aware of what tickyboxes are available or highlighted when you're commenting.
