I'm certainly not going to be cross-posting anyone's comments to FB or Twitter. Please do me the same courtesy.
(Really, LJ? Really? Yes, I have journals that I sporadically update in other places, but I'm (for the most part) at home here on LJ. The StuntHusband gave me a permanent account ages ago, and all my stuff is here! But good lord, LJ makes a lot of bone-stupid "improvements".)

cofax7: "Okay, and here's an update you should be concerned about (LJ only): According to rivkat, the reinstated LJ pingback function includes notices of links from locked posts, and the content of those locked posts. Which means, if I have pingback enabled and you have pingback enabled, and I put up a locked post linking to your post and bitching about you--you would get a pingback notice with some of the content of my locked post."
cofax7 tested this and reported: "I just got a pingback from a locked post, complete with at least a hundred words of the locked post. Consider yourself warned."

I'm also seriously considering not renewing my subscription in November. My journal will remain, though even that, if I can back it up somehow, I might go as far as to delete the last 7-8 years of material once it has been backed up, leaving only 1 to 2 years behind, if they are lucky.

And then there's the whole "I have a permanent account" thing here that I don't want to give up.

Damn it, LJ, this is why Dreamwidth is my current primary journal. (That and my addiction to icons, which sites like Blogspot seem to lack.) Stop adding 'improvements' which are nothing of the sort!

So you can't see who's sharing YOUR information, but no one can see if you are sharing THEIR information. It's sort of like the my guests thing.
Also, as long as you never log into twitter or facebook from here, it should be okay. I made sure that the passwords/usernames for both were unique so it couldn't do anything, and then went to facebook, and disable syncing.
Also, there's now tickyboxes to reduce how much you show up on searches for posting in your journal, and for posting comments. You can select to not show up at all, or select to show up everywhere and "Have your LJ promoted Via LJ".
The default is to share EVERY comment you've posted everywhere and to promote you.

I mean, I'm pretty sure that no one who would see any locked posts of mine would publicly crosspost anything, but still. The general potential for drama from this is amazing.

Without leaving lj (cause I like it here, damnit!) I see 4 options:
1. Trust your flist and comment however you want.
2. Not care about what anyone thinks and comment however you want.
3. Comment but keep neutral.
4. Stop commenting altogether.
Considering how many of my flist feels the same way about this new lj development, I'm leaning towards #1 with a little #3 meshed in for good measure. I mean, I'm not one to post drama or make inflammatory comments, but I have posted comments from experiences, vented, and gave advice to others that I'd rather not be everywhere.
