My doctor's office called with the results of my C4a test. It came back at 4,800. Normal is 2,600. What's really important to know is that my previous numbers were 64 thousand. Hey, I guess I am an over-achiever or something. ::rolls eyes weakly::

C4a is a protein marker that shows immune system activity. The higher the number, the harder your immune system is doing. Or, as the LymeMD blog says:

"C3a and C4a (Labcorp) are products of the complement system, cleaved from C3 and C4. These proteins are mobilized by the immune system as part of its acquired and to a lesser extent innate immune responses. These proteins can attach to unwanted bacteria and target them for destruction. These tests are sensitive indicators of a busy immune system attacking unwanted proteins or germs. These markers can provide a general sense of immune activation in the face of infection or inflammation."

So, getting better. I'm taking so many antibiotics* and vitamin supplements that I'm kind of shocked I don't rattle when I move, but they are having a beneficial effect. I still want laudanum just on general principles, tho'.

*Currently 2 different abx twice a day for three days in a row. I do that for 2 weeks, have a week off, then start back up again. I'm going to be adding a third abx to this collection in the next few weeks. I AM VERY TIRED OF TAKING ANTIBIOTICS. But they're working, so it's worth it.
Yesterday I put on a smidge of makeup (concealer, eyebrows, eyeliner, mascara), proper clothing, and Left The House! To go to the doctor's office for a B12 + Other Stuff shot, to help me get over this Death Blarg Plague thing.

And I *am* getting over it. Slowly, but it's happening. I'm not constantly coughing and sniffling anymore, and my throat doesn't feel like I'm constantly swallowing shards of glass. The main thing I'm still dealing with is the exhaustion. Like, sleeping 11 hours a night, then maybe having a nap later -sort of exhaustion. Ugh. But today I have felt well enough to do a couple of loads of laundry, and am making a tiny bit of progress on writing. My big goal is to be well enough to go to Noc-Noc on Friday night for [livejournal.com profile] sistawendy's transition party. I'm not going to dance, because that way lies exhaustion and a potential relapse, but by God, I AM GETTING DRESSED UP AND GOING OUT ON FRIDAY NIGHT.

My other goals are to put up and decorate the tree, and make gingerbread bats. I don't know if those are going to happen, because I am under orders from the doctor, the Stroppy One, and [livejournal.com profile] cupcakegothmom (hi Mom!) to not overdo things. I really WANT to do those things, because it's December 9th, for goodness sake, and I'd like to start feeling some holiday spirit ANY TIME NOW. But I don't want holiday spirit at the expense of, oh, being healthy and able to do things.
(There are maybe 10 of you who will recognize where I took the title of this post from, and are probably giggling to yourselves.)

Hey look at that! The world didn't end when the Large Hadron Collider was switched on. Of course, as several people have pointed out, there are all sorts of doomsday possibilities that would take a few weeks to really get started, but that just means everyone has time to prepare for the possible rip in space-time and/or a zombie uprising.

So I'm going to see the Sisters Of Mercy in November, when they play El Corazon. Because apparently I am an optimist, and think the show will be better than the last time I saw them. (You couldn't tell what songs were being performed thanks to the WALL OF DISTORTION, and the smoke machine was cranked so high that it set off the smoke alarm. Fun for everyone!) But my dear StuntHusband has never seen them live, AND [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage is planning on attending. Mostly so we can tell people he's Uncle Andy's younger brother. (Because Andrew Eldritch really does look like he's the older, drug-addled brother of the Stroppy One. It's kind of eerie.)

Random gothy eye candy clicky-link: A pirate-loli photo shoot from [livejournal.com profile] egl. I think her outfit is lovely, and it is making me covet more stripey blouses.
